Which Thule racks have you got? I’ve got a couple of the old 510s which have particularly short straps – basically won’t fit anything above 2.2 tyres.

I contacted various shops and thule themselves and was told there were no longer straps for that rack.

However one of the towbar racks has very long straps which will fit. I think they’re about a fiver each. I’ll dig out the link if you want it?

    no no no no.

Ultraviolet trumps all of these. Utterly, incredibly awful.

    Although merit goes to:
    There will be blood
Any of the Predator films aside from the first one
    I am Legend

and how has no one mentioned AI?!?

Hyundai ix35? Had one for nearly 3 years, decent emissions, decent efficiency, loads of kit for the cash and drives reasonably well! I say reasonably, I do still miss the beemer occasionally!

Oh right, so is it worth looking at upgrading my rp2? I like it, but i’d like a bit less bob on the climbs.

hi, i’ve literally just made the same switch on my hardtail. I spent a lot lot less than that, but I still wondered about spending the cash for quite a while.

The weight bit wasn’t an issue for me, i’m not fit enough, light enough myself, or able to buy light enough components that the weight loss would be a big benefit to me!

However, I switched based on recommendations, and so far i’ve been really pleased with the results. I’ve found that the two chainrings are far more useable for my ‘normal’ riding.

In 3×9 i found i’d be changing on the front a lot, and occasionally i’d get caught out in the wrong chainring. With 2×10 you can use more of the rear gears without changing, so i seem to have a bit more flexibility when i need it. As a practical example, there’s a climb we do locally where i’d have to drop to granny for a couple of sections, but i’d want middle gear for several other sections of it. With 2×10 i can just rack through the gears at the rear for the different sections.

Same with some descents, i can switch up then double change down a couple of times for a steep climb halfway down.

Basically, i really like the change, but it only cost me £200 or so!

as pdw said, fees are something like 3.2% plus 20p i think, so if you’re sending £100, send £103.40, paypal deduct their fees and £100 hits the account.

Sorry to hijack, but could you use the kingspan board to insulate a ceiling? We have a utility on the side of the house and get mould on the ceiling where condensation forms as it’s so cold. Would boarding out resolve this?

OK, there’s actually quite a few options,

Indian you could go to the one at the end of fleet st called itihaas, which is just behind summer row, food is good and good value too. Or there’s lasan which is in the jewellery quarter, it won Gordon Ramseys TV competition a couple of years back.

British cuisine there’s a couple of restaurants on summer row which are nice. Also the mailbox has several nice restaurants, including my favourite Steakhouse, Miller and Carter.

There’s a jamies Italian and a wagammamas down by the bull ring, oh and Brown’s there too.

Hi, sorry to hijack, Could this cause the fork to be much harder to compress? Out today and my forks were almost rigid!

Not used the bike in a few months though, so could be something much worse I imagine…

Mark d, thanks for the offer – specs are:

    wired – Scantronic system
wireless – Pyronix or Visonic Powermaster

all for 6 PIRs and 3 door sensors.

What do you reckon? For some reason the budget figure in my head was £600-700 installed, so obv circa £1k seems high, but the budget figure is utterly without basis!

i don’t see how, isn’t this how ebay make their money? You can sometimes get weekends where there is no listing fee, but that’s the only saving i’ve seen! I’ve stopped selling on there tbh, it hurts too much!

sadly no existing wiring to use so its either a full wiring job or wireless. I’ve got a few quotes in, but they’re higher than i expected – approx £1k seems the norm for both wired and wireless.

Thanks for the offer ton, but is that a ‘proper’ pro level sort of one? We bought our current alarm was 150-200 self install job and it’s just not up to the job.

The main trick is just to get the tyre right down into the well of the rim, that’s where the slack comes from.

Possibly the greatest piece of advice ever. Thank the lord.

For hoards of undead, I’d recommend either a 50 cal or something with a bit more poke. Maybe the 30mm GAU8 from an A10 mounted on a tripod. One shot from that should take out several walkers

the GAU8 would need one hell of a tripod mount – including the ammo drum and feed i think its about the size of a VW beetle! Also the recoil is so fierce it actually slows the plane down under sustained fire so on a tripod mount i suspect you’d be in some trouble!

hmmm, it depends on how much you read really. I have the original nexus 7 and just upgraded my kindle to the new paperwhite. The nexus will definitely do the job – you can download the kindle app and sync your e books with amazon just as if you had a kindle. The app works well and there’s obviously plenty of room to store books.

that being said, i still have both because the kindle is a lot better at this than the nexus. The nexus will do the job, but the kindle does it a lot better. The e-ink set up is great, there’s no glare even with the paperwhite back light on, its much much lighter and also works far better in bright sunlight. I’ve used the kindle by the pool on holiday and it works far better than a nexus in this situation.

Be careful with the seat tube ones, cotic advised me that the seat tube is very thin on a soul (and potentially on a bfe I guess?) and would be easily deformed using one of these. I tried it on the seat post itself but it makes the seat so high it’s incredibly difficult to mount the bike let alone ride!

got the paperwhite version back in October to replace my old keyboard version. I have to say i think the paperwhite is well worth the extra cash. As durham says – its just better for reading in all light conditions, the contrast is just that bit better when you’re reading in daylight, and obviously loads better when its a bit dark. Absolutely perfect for when i’m doing the last feed before bed with my son and the little table lamp is all the light i’ve got!

sorry, not explained it properly, the main light works, but the isolation switch needs to be turned on then off after 20 seconds or something so that the light works on the PIR but isn’t permanently on?

hi guys, did anyone have a link for a UK seller who sold the head unit without the battery and charger? What with all the concern over it, i’d planned to buy a better battery, but i don’t really want to have to have 2!

I play rugby at a reasonable level and spent the summer doing preseason fitness training, but then got back on my bike after a couple of months off riding and got utterly destroyed on some of the climbs! Fitness for Rugby was fine, for biking was awful!

Up until recently I was working as a client side project manager, doing refurbishments and new builds. Really enjoyed the job, and being client side brings quite different challenges!

I’d recommend ciob too, I went from non cognate degree (psychology!) to fully chartered in 5 years of intensive but work based learning.

Bought this one off boots about a month back
    http://m.boots.com/mt/www.boots.com/en/Philips-AquaTouch-AT896-17-Wet-and-Dry-Electric-Shaver_1300001/

Really really pleased so far, works well dry but is great in the shower and gives a pretty close shave, especially if used with shaving foam in the shower. Also great for extra wake up in the morning! Fast to charge, and with battery indicator.

Only downsides so far are its difficult to get a good accurate cut at the bottom of side burns in the shower without a mirror and it’s difficult to get a really close shave on my neck for some reason!

I got it on special offer which helped, if you search about they’re available for less than 50 quid.
