I had the same problem when fitting a Hope headset to my C456 last year, no matter how hard I hit it it never went all the way. Eventually gave up with brute force as I could imagine the headtube exploding if I kept on pounding it with the hammer.

I left it with the small gap and it has been fine, used the bike for everything including big mountain rides and have not had any issues with it.

Jessops have been bailed out time and time again by certain big names in the camera industry, it was only inevitable that this would happen. I feel sorry for the staff but the company has helped force many small camera shops to close down in the last few years.

I work in a small independent camera shop and we could not compete with Jessops as they would sell the cameras and lenses for less than we could buy them for from the manufacturers, they would then hard sell accessories at full rrp to get some money in. How can a company think it will survive by not making any money on cameras and lenses and think it could survive on the profit from accessories such as memory cards and cases?

The profit we make on new cameras is under 10%! We keep new cameras in stock but do most of our business with secondhand equipment. If we relied on new equipment, we would be out of business.
people think that just because a camera sells for £400 plus the shop must be making a huge profit, this simply is not the case anymore.

Led on charger should go green when fully charged which should be 4 hours I think?, test the light after though as I didnt use mine for a few months and the battery will only hold a charge for 10 mins now.

Have owned Defender 90's (300tdi)for the best part of 10 years, still gives a grin when used on road and off road, use mine as the only car and its great. Yes they leak are thirsty, built crap etc, etc but there is something about them and the random people that come over and start talking landys when yer in the local supermarket carpark.
Seats are ok if yer no over 5'8 (which I'm not), have driven mine all round the UK and Scottish islands without (m)any issues. Even had the GF driving it off road for the first time, which was scary for me as the passenger.
Dont think I would be without one now, and it got me home everyday during the freaky Scottish winter.

Dust is innevitable with any zoom lens and unless its really heavy will have no noticable affect on the pics you take, the mark on the front element is a different matter, if shooting into any light you may get flare coming from the scratch, normal shooting it shouldn't show up. Get a lens hood if you dont already have one(EW73B.
We have sent lenses to have their front elements replaced and it's expensive so I would'nt bother. H A Lehmanns is one of Canon Uks repairers so it may be worth contacting them if you want it done though.

Ive just picked up a new 456 summer season in 14, im 5'6 tall and the first thing i noticed was the top tube is shorter than the inbred it replaced. Will replace the stem with a 80mm version as opposed to the 50mm its currently using. Dont know what the angle would be like with a 100mm fork, my fork is set to 130mm but will be set at 150mm at the weekend so it will be super slack.
I used to run a 125mm fork on the inbred which felt fine, have you considered this frame aswell as it was originally set for a 100mm fork (i think).
First ride out on the 456 up and down snowy/icy mountain track over Glencoe and I love it, you can throw it through corners harder than I used to on the inbred.

Thanks guys/gals? The £30 is apparently to do with the solicitors themselves and not a third party.

Ive had two defenders (both 300tdi 90s) in the last 8 years, usual problems like p gaskets, fuel lift pump, injectors, leaks for the top door seals that always land on yer lap, noisy not too comfy etc etc. Parts generally cheap and easy to fit.
Tried a normal car a few years back and got bored within a few months, sold it and went back to the Landy. I use mine everyday and it's great, really came into its own in the last month and a half of bad weather.
Cos mines a CSW with the rear fold up seats it's not great for carrying bikes, get mine in without the front wheel no probs but thats about it.
Landys are either in yer blood or not.

Me Land rover defender 90 with 165 Bf Goodrich All Terrain tyres, so far hasnae even looked like gettin stuck in the bleak north west of Scotland where the snow is proper like! spent the last 2 weeks ferrying peeps about and pulling stricken vehicles when theyve got stuck. GFs Seat Leon went 2 metres forward then 2 metres sideways before leaving her drive, she then gave up driving it.

Aye, new starter had new solenoid on it. I like the fire idea, I may just make a huge fire underneath and melt the whole thing;-) The shed is away at a mechanics today so hopefully he'll find the gremlin.

Starter solenoid clicks when the ignition is switched on, have checked the immobiliser and the stop solenoid on the injection pump just in case this was preventing fuel from entering the pump.
Im thinking that its possibly a dodgy connection in the ignition wiring and have got hold of a wiring diagram, so I will spend tonight tinkering with wires. Still at least its less complicated than the bikes!

Have been using a 300tdi 90 everyday for 5 odd years now in north Scotland, great things but dont expect many luxuries thay you would find in a normal vehicle, although the newer ones are no bad compared to my shed.
Went back to normal car a couple of years ago but soon got fed up with the boringness of it and went back to the green oval. Not many Seats around that can pull large tree roots out of the ground or drive up 45d/gree inclines.
You do get used to the overly upright driving position, the banging yer elbow off the window and the leaks that come through the top of the door seal and always end up dripping on yer crotch. There is always something nice when a fellow landy driver gives you a wave when they drive past.
I would love to get a newer TD5 or Puma engine variant but wont due to the tax costs. So I'll keep mine for 20years until it dissolves on the drive or the government bans me from using it.

Fellas, if yer ever up my neck o the woods, Inverness (unlikely I know). give us a shout and ill swap your olde Essex banter for some Scottish trails wi a southern twist. Dont forget a pot of cockles and mussels for me though:-)

The lack of riding in the Rayleigh/Benfleet/Southend area forced my move to North Scotland;-), now I has all the singletrack and steepness I need right on me doorstep, and very few dog logs to worry about.
Stopping at the cockle sheds in old Leigh during our Sunday Hadleigh castle hack brings back the memories.

Yer nae tae far from Golspie laddie, mebe an hours drive from Drum, would be well worth a visit. Otherwise head to Contin just outside Strathpeffer (20miles? away) for some xc, Learnie on the black isle (40miles?) for a short but technical trail. There are also loadsa secret trails about, including mine (10miles away) but im no telling where it is.
Abriachan is a basic route made out of the wrong type of gravel/marbles, only gets interesting when you head into the red natural trails where you will find some nice singletrack mixed with peat and the slipperiest north shore in scotland, its been coated with eels. There is a route which takes you over the top of the hill which gets interestiing on the descent, lots of steep steps. You can also link this up with the west highland way which will take you to drum without to much tarmac pedalling.

Forecast is gale force winds for north west scotland on Saturday night, BBC says snow on Sat and Sunday. Should be good, I will most probably be sitting in me Landy watching everyone cycle past.
    Good luck to all competing.

I need my fuel injection pump re-conditioned on me landy, if stw pay for it that’ll negate the need to send me a hip flask.
    Deal?

Running zombies is out of order, Dawn of the dead, the 70s original still has the ultimate zombies.
