I only have a hardtail at the minute, and it is just different and at the minute I am really enjoying it. Ride all the stuff I did on FS some of it slower some faster.
I will get another FS to go with the hardtail next year provided I can find the right one, short travel rear 110/120 ish, 140ish front and fairly slack 66 ? with short stays any suggestions ?

Custom wise likely to be more to do with bad builds than them being a viable option, I have had a few sets done by local lbs and found myself constantly taking them into to be trued.

The mavic s appeal because of weight and being stiff. I have heard their warranty is pretty good. It does bother me though I cannot get hold of spokes etc easily though.

I have looked at hope and their new rim but they seem heavy of not the fastest hubs. Tried spank oozy and kinesis and bust them. Considering something built round dt swiss hubs maybe best, just not sure what

I have had a ti one for about 2 months great bike I just can’t decide on wheels. I have some superstar jobs I got on offer which are fine but I fancy something wide. I am worried about tire clearance, got a 2.3 purgatory on the back but know the wide rims flatten them out more. It’s my only bike at the minute and it has done all the peaks stuff, Wales and Marin enduro it handles it all fine and is great fun to ride just different to a full sus.

I have tactic rims on tesla hubs, paid 200 as a stop gap while I decide whether to go carbon or not. I have had them on a couple of months and I am really impressed so far, stayed true and pick up is really good. I am hard on wheels and found myself constantly having to sort bearings, spokes etc on the stans/hope combos. I am actually now considering the superstar carbon ones which I would not have thought about until I tried these.

Not going to try and explain the science but my mate has just got a mojo hd3 with the ibis 41mm rims. He is running hans damf 2.35 at about 18 psi and the grip is ridiculous. They are so good that I am going to try them in my switchback to see if they will fit.

Yeah no there is a fair difference between the iPhone / android. I do like the iPhone but the battery drives me mad.

I have some AM ones and that has a similar number of clicks there is not a massive difference between each click but a big difference from one extreme to another

I would hold on to the money and put it towards your next bike.

I cannot comment on the alpine but had a bfe, I tried it at 160,140 & 130. The later was the best and it felt weird at 160. Like deviant I think it’s a half arsed go by cotic. I have a stanton switchback ti and that is a very different beast to the bfe. Slack with suitably low Bb. Looking at the numbers I would go with the alpine, could do with being a bit slacker for me though.

My mate has these came on his mojo build, he is 6 rides in and impressed so far. They are on drswiss 350 hubs. Hand damf 2.35 look massive on them.

I have just gone back to a ht, a ti switchback from a long travel 29er. I have had loads of fs in the last few years and a bfe thrown in to. Test rode the switchback and just loved it. I ride peaks mainly with lakes etc. There is no doubt a FS is faster in lots of situations but not all and I actually prefer the switchback on the really tight steep stuff as it is well slack but more precise. I ride a lot and got fed up with bushings, bearings etc

No doubt I will be back on a full suss but don’t see it having much travel, there is nothing out there that I know about though which I would consider.

Weeds are a garden feature, superstar wheels is true stop gap until I get the money for my industry nine’s (ride alright to be honest – so far). Nailed wood is for attacking the kids when they touch my bike. Neoguard is shit but I find them all mostly useless except the mojo one but it does not fit bos (which are 140 mm as recommended)

I am doing it on a ti switchback, I am totally sure it’s the wrong bike though and would be better something that bounces at both ends.

I have tried one and really liked it but went for a banshee prime in the end, similar numbers, frame only and will take chunky tires. Had it for about 8 months and really like it. The enduro is a bit lighter though.

Having to do the bearing on my banshee prime after 5 months annoyed me enough yesterday to think maybe it will be a five29 next time. Weight wise the banshee weighs a ton so no disadvantage there.
