I have a set of kinesis maxlight 300 quid of winstanelys which are decent weight, width and dead easy tubeless. Well worth a look, get decent reviews to

I am in for the first time, busy summer now as doing the mega for the first time in July as a warm up.

I have a banshee prime and it’s the most confident I have been in a bike both on the floor and in the air.

Banshee phantom is worth a look 105mm rear and up to 140 on the front. You should be able to build a decent one for 3k.

I took my rear shock out to do the bush the other day and then lifted the bike to move it, it felt like the bearings had gone to. It had 2 real areas of resistance which I then realised to be the clutch mech. It is probably not significant when you factor your body weight in. Give it a go and you will see what he means.

The new one is a big improvement to be honest and comes in a fair bit cheaper than the lev with the 150 drop

Mtbguiding if you have one of these new style ones

    http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/kind-shock-super-natural-remote-435mm-seatpost-259421/varid-259425?currency=3&delivery_country=190&gclid=COut0oSHicICFbPMtAodQTkAiw

Then they are much improved with the only issue for me being the actual attaching of the cable under the seat clamp which is a faff. If you have the older one they do struggle more with the cable and muck in general

Is it one of the new ones with the little lever on the post within the clamp, if so have you taken the seat off and checked it is fixed tightly.

Two of my mates have sets, one is the travel adjust. Both really rate them but the travel adjust ones dropped down after about 14 months, a service sorted them though which was overdue.

I have found you need to make sure the Pistons are central when you fit a caliper and make sure they push evenly on to the rotor. If not one side pushes on to the other and bends the rotor across when braking. The adjustable spanner is how I straighten them.

I take stuff back to my lbs and they sort the warranty regardless of where I have bought it from.

In my experience the warranty issues have been resolved by the distributor and not the shop. They have just sent them off.

My banshee prime is doing the mega with me next year, it handles anything I can do and more, you do need decent wheels though

OP I am not in the trade however it seems possible that in mtb you maybe finding more and more people are buying direct – YT, canyon, commencal, on one etc. They have been getting their bikes in the mags and getting decent reviews and come out a lot cheaper relatively for spec.

I have a banshee prime and in normal fashion recommend that, not the lightest but pedals well and is ace down.

    Should say Langsett not Langley

    sprocker

There are better route choices if splitting into 2 just on the basis you do a long slog from Langley to glossop and then a fair bit of uninteresting stuff over to hayfield, I would stretch it out a bit over 2 days and fit a bit more decent stuff in. Drop me an email if you do not know the area to well and I can cobble something together for you

I have done that Lord of the loops from the vertebrate book, 4000m of climbing on 110km it’s hard. You need a lot of daylight though unless stupid fit or willing to go with lights.

I had pikes on my enduro and now have 2015 factory float 34’s on my 29er. I have ridden the 14 factory fit ones on a demo bike as well. To me all decent ish forks but the small bump is better on the 15 ones and they seem to hold better in the mid stroke more than the 14’s. I did prefer the pike to the 14’s as they seem to be more supple without diving. I do not prefer them to my 15’s though once I got them setup. They have taken a lot of fiddling on air pressure but are now very good. If you fancy the fox I am sure they can be improved with the different seals and oil.

I never had problems on the pikes relability wise in the 6 months I had them but I have 2 mates whose had to go back.

Round bakewell, eyam, monsall head you should be able to link stuff together, there is the vertebrate book for the area. Further south round ambergate, wirksworth, black rocks is very good but lots is a bit cheeky and you need to know where, it’s fine in the wet to.
