I can relate to OP as I had an estate that I sat in on my own mainly and downsized to a 308 GTi hatch. I just prefer the smaller car, had planned to but bike in the boot which I can do front wheel off but found impractical with a dirty bike so have stuck some roof bars on.

Civil servant not yet agreed but told to prepare for disappointment in the 1.5 to 2% range, nothing last year. Wife is NHS got about 4% backdated to April arrears were completely eaten up in increased pension contribution and moving forwards it’s about 1.8% more.

Similar to above after ideas up to £1,800 for something to add to collection following getting a promotion. I have a tag aquaracer, Seiko presage, Farer. Happy used if people have anything for sale or new. Ideally auto.

I have a bfe max which I use for night rides and winter mainly. Its really fun to ride on most stuff for a couple of hours but I find it just generally unpleasant on rough terrain. I have an ibis ripmo I use for long rides, trips etc. If I had to chose the hardtail would go but its great having both

drove the Tiguan with 1.5t petrol with DSG, nice and smooth but only got low 30mpg on a 100 mile run and it felt pretty gutless when overtaking compared to my diesel kuga.

So many people riding now if everybody stuck to the bridleways and no “off piste” at all there is a potential for alot more conflict with other users especially with all the electric motorbikes. Need to apply common sense not damage fences, trees etc and exercise care on what you have not ridden before. If a land owner is dead against you doing it then you need to consider elsewhere. Maybe a ban on head angles below 68 will stop these crazy steep trails 😉

On one inbred can’t remember the exact one as blanked it out my mind. Bright red colour build up with brand new drive train and the moment I went off road the chain sucked straight up. Did 4 rides pretty much wrecked the chain stay and gave it away. On one or planet x whatever they were didn’t want to know as not an issue. Pretty sure their next range came with loads of chain ring clearance.

I bought one of the last 5 frames direct from orange when my bronson was recalled under warranty. Was going to sell it when I got the bronson back. Paid 2k for it with an x2 shock, paint option and headset which I did not think was that bad. Got the bronson back and sold it. Just enjoyed the 5 a lot more. I like tight steep trails and rutted berms etc it feels so good on it. Open fast rocky its not as sure footed but then I have tried numerous long travel 29ers which excel on that but I then find a hand full in the tight. Just a really fun bike, not for everybody though and depends how/what you ride. Full builds are really expensive but frame only and savvy buying can get you a decent one for 4 to 4.5k.

Mortgage is largest expense by a long way but an investment. Buy cars outright at about 5 years old and try to keep for 5ish, I can’t believe the price of new cars and the finance that goes with them. Family holidays 4-5k a year, clothes last me years but the kids go through them at some rate. Daughter is into horses which is very expensive even when you don’t have one. I do spent alot on bikes with both me and wife riding having a selection. I also like watches and have a few of them at a few thousand each which I have acquired over the last 20 years.

I have had dogs all my life and am really careful where I let my current one off, never round livestock or in areas of lots of people etc, couple of occasions where we have come across people I was not aware of and he gone up to them. He has come straight back but one man gave me a torrent of abuse and the dog never got closer than 15 feet to him, and I was apologetic. I put it down to his fear at the time he did say he would kick it to death if it came across again. Dog was on the lead by then so empty threat in reality, had my 10 year old son with me so not on on his part. Don’t condone the behaviour OP has suffered though but there are lots of idiots out there and more dog owners than ever.

I live there and have been around the area for 40 years, most of it is totally fine as just some bits on the flood plain to avoid. What street are thinking of ?

A call like that quick standard practice ! Really, it was a key factor in a great game that is definitely not normal in other games, really refreshing

Depends how you measure success, on world cups, S hemisphere thump the North with just a single win this side to England and only France making a final out the rest. The English claim of superiority on this stage on the home nations but it is much closer in the 6n, autumns etc as it is between SA, AB and AS in tri nations, each hemisphere having far more exposure to each others game. I have watched every England game live since 2001 a painful journey at times with the games against Wales often the most painful to watch and lose. No idea why maybe my Welsh relatives or its just the daffodils.

A game with plenty of talking points, Wales deserved winners, not sure on a grand slam as somewhat flattering opponents to date and France will be tough. I feel a bit for Itoje as mentioned above, having to play with the useless lump Hill. His only contribution to a game is missing tackles and flopping over on the wrong side. People criticise England’s constant kicking but it appears Young’s has little other option as if they keep the ball in the own half they give a kickable penalty away.

Complete tear and some cartilage damage, did it 2 1/2 years ago at taekwondo. No op, had a physio who reckoned I could build up enough strength to not need it. I went back to mtb after 4 months and taekwondo after a year. Still do alot of squats and hamstring exercises but its good most of the time. Just a bit of cartlidge pain some of the time.

I have a gravel bike, find it pretty much useless bar when I have an hour to get out, then a bronson for when I want to enjoy riding. I am in the peaks and I notice people on 140 to 160mm full sus mainly with some going hardtail, big increase in ebikes of late.

I am happy not having one on my gravel bike, but would rather not ride my FS if I had to use it with a rigid post.

Head into the top of the wood on the beeley road. Climb over the wall. Head right at the first junction. Travel along for a bit through the stream. About 300 yards (very roughly) after the stream there is a track on the left which doubles back on yourself, nice steep techy to start and then into loamy stuff lower down.

We had a labradoodle puppy who is now 9 months. Had him at 12 weeks and although it is a commitment it is nothing like a baby. He slept through from the start no noise and the house training was a gradual thing over about 5 months. I was expecting it to be much worse but it has been great and the kids have loved having a puppy.

Two adults and 2 kids 10/12. We are £700 to 800 a month so imagine you can trim a bit. My wife loves gin as well which I moan about the cost of extensively.

My specialized Allez failed on the chain stay after 15 months, the on line retailer stated that it must have due to a crash/drivetrain failure based on a photo inspection. I contacted specialized directly who sent me a complete new bike within a week.

Put a set on my hard tail, hub spilt nearly in half after 19 miles. Now awaiting a new wheel and hopefully just a rare fail.
