You should be there for her on this anniversary.

Perhaps you could go for a pub meal to break the usual routine, but big celebrations are probably off the agenda now.

You have to judge the situation as it develops.

Sometime’s, sitting there with a cup of tea and chatting is all that is needed.

I’m sorry about your loss. It’s not easy and everything will be different from now on.

    Give your mum a hug!

    Good luck!

Castle speakers are superb and British too, well they use to be but they are still from Skipton Yorks. My neighbour has got a pair and they are pin sharp crystal clear with a nice weight.

Actually they’re not made in the UK anymore. If you look up Castle’s old factory address on Google Maps, you will see a development of new houses.

The manufacture of Castle speakers moved to the far east several years ago. I shouldn’t think the oriental built speakers are any different from those made here, just that the cost to build them is far lower.

If you can get a pair of Howard S2’s on eBay, you’ll be getting a speaker on a par with something costing IRO £2000 in today’s money.

£500 should cover it. They are trully awesome speakers and the best sound you will get pound for pound. Things don’t get much better until you start spending phenomenal sums of cash.

I think it is you that is the spongebrain Junkyard!

The OP has children! These should be his main focus and not what is on the end of his cock!

I think liberal attitudes like yours are all too common these days and this selfishness inevitably causes a great deal of misery to many innocent people!

If adults could act like adults and take some responsibility for their fmilies, instead of acting like self-centred hedonistic egomaniacs, then the world would be a better place.

That is an unrealistic notion of mine, because individuals believe their wants and needs are more important than those of the people around them. They will argue robustly to defend what THEY want, their rights etc etc and stuff everyone else.

If you had witnessed close hand, the damage an extramarital affair could have on a relationship, you would wind your misguided little neck in!

Such an affair occurred in my immediate family this year which culminated in my brother in-law hanging himself.

So go carefully when preaching your liberal thinking to others Junkyard.

Thinking about it, your name suggests the place where you belong!

This is another example of the stupid thinking of the upper class twits who get to run the country these days!

And this applies to all parties!!

Excluding from the top jobs in politics, capable people of all backgrounds and who have real life experience, is a very dangerous thing!

As things stand, we really may as well not have a democratic system any more!

The Westminster political machine is well and truly broken!

PS, any pattio abutting the walls of the house need to be below the damp proof course. In the photo, this has been mitigated by use of a peashingle infill. I’m not sure whether this is a little on the small side however. Difficult to say without looking closely.

You need to leave access to manhole covers and in the photo they have used one which you can lay slabs into. I used one of these on the patio i did and reckon they are worth the £50 outlay.

A very fair price, knowing the work involved to do the job properly.

I’ve used the same slabs as in the photo and done about 4 times the area in paths, separate patios etc.

Harcore is not necessary except for backfilling perhaps, but a well compacted base with about 3-4 inches of ballast and cement on top is. The slabs are then laid on this using a mix of sharp sand and cement. The joints are then pointed with a strong mix of soft sand and cement. The pointing needs to be done with a damp mix and has to be tamped into the joins and smoothed off.

Your bodger tradesman will dab a few blobs of cement down on a bed of compacted sand, but this will only remain solid for a matter of weeks. Whacking down some type one, or broken up hardcore below this would be beneficial, but not really necessary for a garden patio (method used for floating block paving). The pointing on a patio bedded on sand will crumble in no time.

If you need to park a car on your surface, you would need a thicker layer of ballast and cement, ideally reinforced with steel rod sheeting. The slabs will need to be very well bedded down and of suitable thickness and strength too.

If there is levelling to do for this patio and retaining walls are required, footings will need to be dug and concreted before any bricks are laid and the resulting void will need to be built up and concreted too.

£1800 for a job as per the photo is a realistic and fair price.

I woon’t for one second pay any attention to Junky’s post, or indeed anyone attaching any sort of economic value to going to university. Is that seriously all it means to you? Pound notes??

It’s all about developing the mind. Which, if you have the aptitude for what’s in store, is worth it at any price.

Roads from London to Norfolk very quiet on Thurday night, tourist towns up there not that busy.

I think a lot of people are skint and the price of fuel isn’t helping.

Or perhaps people were just scared off by the hype on the telly about bank holiday gridlock.

Anyone coming to Britain on a Bank Holiday may be getting the impression we’re a bunch of badly dressed, ignorant, overweight, lazy, complaining football obsessed loosers.

And when I go abroad during school holidays, the motley crew at the airport are much the same.

You get these religious fruitcakes who claim to have deciphered numerous coded messages in the Bible. They claim the Bible has accurately predicted a number of recent catastrophic events. Why is it then, that all these bible bashers don’t rock up before a disaster to warn people of the imminent danger? That would be the Christian thing to do now wouldn’t it?

I wonder if they’ve tried spelling god back to front?

Anyhow, if God did exist, he’d have to be a malicious vindictive little cxxt for all the suffering he inflicts on all the innocent and good people of the world.

Top Gear has been a great success for the BBC. It is sold all around the world and has been a success because of the innane stupidity of the show. This strikes a chord with a wide cross section of society, but cleverly satirizes petrolheads as well as appealing to them at the same time. This widens the show’s appeal, so non-car enthusiasts and whole families sit down to enjoy the show. I predict the programme continuing it’s popularity because the show’s makers have recognised that dumbing down any TV show boosts viewing numbers.

I have found some parts on ebay that were stolen from me about 2 months ago!!!

If you have irrefutable proof, option 1.

    If no proof, neither option.

The seller might not be the scrote who nicked them though,

    – A good reason for using option one (if you can prove unequivocally that these goods are your property).

You can download from iPlayer on a PC and transfer the file to portable devices, but I’ve not seen a mobile version of iPlayer that works on anything other than streaming (could be wrong though).

Works brilliantly on my ageing Nokia 5800, but thanks for your input.

Sideloading is a pain and what makes the 5800 so useful to me is it’s ability to download a programme while i’m getting ready for work. Then I can watch the content on the train. A one hour show takes about 2-3 mins to download and then you are set. This feature really takes the monotony our of commuting and I really wouldn’t want to be without it.

Have done a bit of digging around and found these are the only fully supported handsets. Not a very comprehensive list and no Android handsets 😐

    Nokia 5800, E71, N86, N96, N97
    Samsung Wave (S8500), Monte (S5620), Genio (B5310), Pixon (M8800), Omnia II (i8000)
    Sony Ericsson W995, Satio (U1i)

Come on BBC, get your finger out and include some more recent handsets!

Always reminds me of a nasty greek island holiday i went on. We all got bussed to a remote beach for a BBQ, you know, one of those expensive rep. excursions.

There was a hut on the beach where they did all the cooking and there was a cute little lamb tethered outside. We all sat around drinking and watching the sun set, but feeling slight concern for the animal’s fate.

Then one of the chefs came with a cleaver in hand and took this creature inside. This raised a few eyebrows and one or two said they no longer felt hungry.

He emerged a few minutes later with blood on his hands and no “lamby”!!. This shocked everyone and a lot of the women were in tears.

Then a few minutes later, the joker brought lamby back out again, much to the relief of the punters.

Well I guess they had to entertain themselves some how.

I did wonder how long it would be until lamby bought it though!

I did the bike test 4 years ago, but some 25 years after putting in about 35,000 miles on two wheels. We learned the hard way in those days (many people injured themselves (including ,me), or even died).

I did the bike test after around 970,000 miles of motoring experience, mostly on 4 wheels, but it wasn’t easy getting back on a bike. It made me realise how inattentive I had become at the wheel. Unlike on a bike, when driving a car, you can get away with being a bit lax.

In my opinion, biking requires a much higher level of attention and skill than sitting in the comfort and relative safety of a stable 4 wheeled vehicle.

The competent motorcyclist is without a shadow of a doubt, the superior road user. I would say IMHO, but this is fact.

    So there! 😆

As a biker, you’ll make a much better driver than most. You are 90% of the way there already. You just need to get used to the differences with 4 wheels and pass the tests. It’ll be a breeze!

They didn’t ask permission to put it in, so why should you ask permission to remove it.

In law, as in the playground, two wrongs don’t make a right.

Nonsense! The cable was illegally installed on your land and damage was done to your property in the process.

Leaving it in place could unwittingly be giving permission to permit further unauthorized digging up and damage to your property.

It’s your land and you can do whatever you like with it! There is no “wrong” on your part in removing this cable.

Talk to your buidlings insurer if you have legal cover.

I would write and tell Virgin and your neighbour to remove the cable within 10 working days and after which, if it remains, you will instruct a contractor to remove it at their cost.

I’d copy the neighbour and send both letter recorded delivery.

I’d file a claim for the damage, inconveniece and distress caused if your insurer will entertain the idea.

And in fact some of the very best comedians imo, have been people with serious mental health issues.

I don’t think their general mental health is any different from anyone else’s!

Comedians are usually highly intelligent people who realise that mental issues are part of being human. They are smart enough to realise our limitations and make light of it, which is probably not a bad thing.

If the rest of us weren’t so terrified of mental illness, the comedians’ jokes on the subject wouldn’t be so funny.

    PS. I’m mad and I don’t care!
