I did JOGLE, and the prevailing winds thing is crap.
Wind behind us for 10 of the 14 days, anywhere north of Aberdeen seems to go in circles.
Blog here. with all B&B info etc.

I really wouldn't want to end up in JOG. I fancy doing it again and i'd do it the same way again.

To be honest I've been worried I'm too harsh with them so was prolly hoping I wasn't alone.

I worry about this too. My 10yr old son is allowed an hour and a half on the Wii a week, and an hour TV a day. He is also the only kid in his class that doesn't have a DS which seems unfair to him. On the plus side he devours books out of choice and can hold an articulate conversation with an adult.

The way I explain it to him is that I can't just go out on my bike all day, everything has to be in moderation.

As with most things, you get what you pay for. A £200 quid shed will be crap. I know, I've got one and I have to take care not to fart when I'm inside it if I want to keep the roof on.

Build your own – much more fun. I got completely carried away and ended up with a double glazed fully insulated, heated beast. I can fart to my heart's content without a care in the world.

I'm putting these on a t shirt. Unless they make sense in which case they're useless to me.

He's 10, so he will have had all the 'birds and bees' videos at school long ago. Ask him – he'll know more than you.
It was my 10 year old's birthday 2 weeks ago.

Did mine at CwmCarn in December and was off the bike for 5 weeks. If you get a cold you're in for a world of sneeze pain.

Get a Brooks B17 saddle and fit it to a bike that you are comfy on.
Buy a pot of Assos cream and use it often.

Keep doing day rides until your planned daily mileage doesn't cause any problems.

    Pedal fast through Bolton.

I tend towards the John Lewis, waitrose, audi end of the spectrum :o)

If this is the case you'll be fairly cheesed off with Gloucester.
Frampton is a nice village, easy access to big hills.
Waitrose in Stroud (approx 6 miles).
Painswick nice too, right in the middle of big hills.

Edric64, sounds like your working alone is probably the best solution for all concerned. Well negotiated. Spectacularly good management on your part.

I guess you've never employed the great British Public deadlylarcy?
    I'm with Edric.

Grim. I've been in business 12 years and never seen anything like it. It makes me feel slightly better that it's not just me.

Around here (South West), most people I have spoken to over the last month are on their arses – this was confirmed to me by my bank manager this afternoon.

As far as I'm aware, as an employer if you open the scheme to one person you are obliged to open it to all employees, from the cleaner to the MD.

    They can't discriminate.

Get to your local physio, or get a referal from your doctor.
When my knee did the same I was lucky enough to be seen by a local physio who specialized in cycling – sorted me out in half an hour.

    I'm typing this on a G5 powermac from http://www.scrumpymacs.co.uk – I think it's from mid 2006, running 10.4.11. with 1Gb ram.

Next to it on the desk is 2 year old custom PC (won't bore you with specs) running Windows 7, with 4Gb ram.

Old Mac is twice as fast booting from cold, and runs CS3 much faster.

At home I've got a Macbook refurb, about 4 months old – awesome – £579 direct from Apple.

Are they worth it? Yes, because my wife has no idea how to work a Mac, so leaves it well alone.

I did my first outing singlespeed at Cwmcarn with a 16t. Seatpost snapped after 5 minutes (bloody carbon crap) so I spent the next 2 hours on my legs with no respite.

    Oh how my mates laughed.
Biggest problem I found was lack of torque to get myself out of trouble on the tech uphill stuff i.e not enough legs.

18t a good idea to start with.

My current car came from here http://www.leasingoptions.co.uk – don't go by the advertised price – they will haggle.

You could always try http://www.lingscars.co.uk – put your sunglasses on first.

If you find anything let me know – I need a new one in June.

Still spend a lot of time doing it and enjoying every second. The only hard part is trying to charge for your time….

    Much better…How?

For a start you can transfer music back from your ipod to your computer, and you can also use sharepod from the device itself.

    spokebloke

You don't need iTunes for the ipod or the iphone.
    Use sharepod – much better.

Don't want to pee on anyone's fire, but I knew a chap who did this a couple of years ago and lasted about 18months.
Main reasons for failure? 1. You're competing with supermarkets – suicide.
    2. The cost of shipping.

Not sure if that helps or not.

Got the new book this week and did the base a couple of evenings ago. Wife came back from the pub and said the house smelled fantastic. Resulting chicken tikka masala (3 kids under the age of 9) was bloody marvellous.

I agree about advertising on STW – works well. Sorry about the fat man.
Don't bother with bikeradar – massively expensive. In fact when I pointed out to them just how much it costs per click based on their figures their rep abruptly halted the email conversation.
