Juicy 5s are fine – they have a different bleed port.

You can check the hose. Fill it with fluid and leave it overnight – if it's the wrong stuff it'll be on the outside of the tube by the morning.

I think you're in the same boat as me with the barb – doesn't look like that'll fit in the body of a 3.

I did this for my mates in a half arsed kind of way.
So, I got the syringes, tubing (make sure it's brake fluid proof), fluid and barbs. then I found out that Juicy threes have a different bleed port and wouldn't work with the barbs I have, so I gave up.

Anyone wants a kit (including 100ml Rock Oil fluid) for £10 including postage, email me (as long as you haven't got 3s).
I'm not doing any more of these once they're gone – I could just do with clearing the box of crap under my desk.

Paper round. Pizza delivery. Gigolo. Pig semen collector.
Give up the cash thing, do something you enjoy. That's what a hobby is.

I'm off to visit the pigs.

i seem to do fine with semislicks in the rain and even occasionally a 32mm touring tyre, but what do i know….

Well, I obviously have no idea where you ride, but around the south cotswolds you'd last the trip out of your gate before falling flat on your arse with semi slicks. If you can ride them, fair play. I can't.

I used mine for first time and thought they were great, even in hte boggy bits – they are a summer race tyre after all.

Yeah, I know they're a summer race tyre – it was summer when I started! Went through about 3 more seasons on the 75k though.

    Bog=OK, slippery mud=lethal.

When we got to the campsite I commented on the bloke next to me who also had Aspens. He said they weren't the worst tyres he'd ever used in the wet, but were very close to it.

i somehow doubt it – you can get away with ANY tire on the rear. seriously.

    Utter crap.

Had a good day out. Two mates did the short route and stayed bone dry. I went long and ended up utterly drenched for for about 3 hours.
Some nice downhills, but they didn't make up for the climbs.

Got all excited when I saw the 5km to go board and promptly went over the bars into the gorse. My arms and legs look like i've interfered with a porcupine. Thanks to the French bloke that pulled me out of that one.

30 seconds later I went over the bars into some heather. Quite a relief after the gorse. Thanks to the bloke on the Cannondale that pulled me out of that one.

Maxxis Aspen were excellent for the first hour, but after that they made the bike plain dangerous. They're coming off the bike today.

Robdean, I cite conflict of interest. Did you pay full price for yours?

I think you really are missing the point. I too doubt that the DX light puts out 900 lumens, but the amount of light it does put out is more than adequate for 90% of riders. I didn't realise I was talking to the elite 10%……and I bet you think your dad is bigger than my dad too.
For a lot of non-sponsored riders the fact that you could buy 6 DX lights for the price of one Maxx D is highly relevant and I'm pretty sure that's what the OP meant.

it's not just the rated maximum lumens of the LED you choose to put in your light, but the development of an effective lens for the intended application (different for bars and helmet) that makes the light truly good for riding at night.

    Nope,
I'd say riding ability comes into it too. If you need daylight, and 900 lumens isn't enough I suggest you wait until daylight and MTFU.

    start changing batteries every 30mins

Not sure what's going on there. Mine lasts 3 hours come rain, shine or minus 10. The batteries are li-on – shouldn't be much of an issue.

My advice is try a DX or similar light. If you can see what you want to see then job done. If you're struggling, spend another £50 and blow the MaxX-D blokes into the hedges.
If you need more than 1800 lumens (allegedly), it's probably best if you stay inside for the winter.

If they are broken (and bruised is bad too) the general consensus is 5 weeks to heal.
If sneezing, coughing and laughing feels like you've been shot from 3 feet away, they're probably broken.
If it's bloody uncomfortable to sleep and is tender to the the touch they're probably just bruised.
Broke mine in December, bruised them two weeks ago, racing this weekend. Oh joy.

Recently got a Surly Cross Check – it'll tour with ease, and has mounts in all the right places.

Very comfy. Also, comes in 700c in smaller sizes.

Thats defo a crack. Right on the HAZ of the weld.

From the photo (which may be misleading) the crack is in the body of the weld, not the HAZ.

Rub it back, let's have a look.
5 Spots are ali right? You'll need a dye penetrant test.
    But it looks borked.

    Never design on word. Please.
You'll need to present the file as a vector, along with any bitmaps at high res.
    So, Illustrator, Corel Draw, Indesign.

My kids eat olives as if they were sweets.

I'd say parsnips. I will eat just about anything, but parsnips are the devil's chopper.

Did a few thousand miles on road with them last year and, like others above, no punctures. Get them at 80psi on road and they roll OK.

They're made for abuse and weight – if you're not an animal and avoid the pies I'd go for gators or similar.

Spent a cracking few months at Kibbutz Ein Gev, and I can remember one or two of them.

As mentioned – Masada is awesome.
Jerusalem is amazing – spend as long as you can there.
Sea of Galilee – good for a day out in a hire car. Good restaurant on the seafront (lakefront?) opposite Tiberias. You can do a kibbutz tour too if you fancy it.

My 10 year old is 5'1" and has a 24" 'Barracuda' type thing. Cost about £100 and is fine for his level of ability / enthusiasm. 26" is too big for him (I tried him on an old Merlin).
When the bugger stops growing I'll get him something decent. And use it myself.

Allen Carr stopped me in my tracks 10 years ago. In the early days I used to have a glass of water every time a craving came along. Got tired of going to the toilet before long.

    +1 for the evil smell.

Also – irony is a bit of an understatement, but after helping millions of people quit Allen Carr died of lung cancer. And was then reborn as a camp comedian.

Had a set on my VT1 for a couple of months. They've got my limited skills out of trouble a few times. Well put together, but they should be.

The compression adjustment is meant to replace a lockout – but doesn't.

They replaced Maguras – if I had to choose again I'd go for better Maguras.

Good bike, but one bike too many in the shed.
It's last year's model (they don't make them any more)and it's had the wheels rebuilt (the weak link, sorted).
