Beamshot now here, comparing to a Lupine Tesla 4 and a set of Ayups.
Also a one day sale on the lights, finishes at 5pm.

He is very convincing that the lights are not Magicshine’s re-badged but having used both I can’t help but think he’s in bed with them on some level.

We are shouting at each other as we speak.

Have 3 – my wife convinced me 3 times that there is never a bad time to have kids.

I would like a dog, but wife says it’s not a good time.

Best take earplugs if you’re going to watch the bmx shows. There’ll be some ‘dude’ SHOUTING into a microphone that everyone should ‘make some noise’ etc. Tiresome.

Tiresome? Try listening to it 4 times a day for 4 days…that’s tiresome.
    Yep, I’ll be there…

900 lumens is the claimed theoretical max, as most manufaturers state.
I don’t think that ours actually pump out 900, but they are at least as bright as other ‘claimed’ 900s.

    Will get to it.

    do you people not crash?

Oh yes. Broken my ribs twice – you’ll be pleased to know the lights were fine….
If the bike landed upside down you might have a problem, but the bracket snapping would probably save the light itself.

Uhh? Are you implying that you designed the magicshine?(I’m not being scornful it would just be an interesting revelation)

Nope, I / we didn’t design it – we sourced the light, got samples / prototypes, messed about with it over a few months and bought the finished article. Then found out that Magicshine are selling it 3 months later. Really chuffed.

All our batteries are properly sealed and checked before they go out. It’s a ballache, but better than warranty claims!

All product information is on our website, and it really does have everything there. Contact information too is on the website, and on this forum you can find my e-mail very easily to ask any questions you have in regards to product/shipping.

Not true. The only phone number is in Australia. There is no returns procedure – warranty yes, returns no. No contact details on the invoice..

It’s great being able to find your email on this forum, but not all of your customers are on this forum….

Going back to the start – it’s already in full swing
    Sparky[/url]

I have a friend that spots ‘trends’ – knowing I’m into bikes he asked me what I thought of electric bikes, and I told him that I just wasn’t interested / it’s not cycling / it’s for oldies etc.
Then he delivered one to my house to play with and I haven’t been off the thing since. It looks like a POS but is bloody marvellous to ride on the road. Off road though? I could have done with a motor doing the Beast a couple of weeks ago, but wouldn’t have deserved my pint afterwards.

As an aside can I just say how glad I am that you once again have a UK based supplier.

It’s a shame that they’re just a pick and pack warehouse. No product knowledge, no returns procedure, not even a phone number or email on the invoice.
    Product = good
    Customer service = nil.

Is the spokebloke one essentially a repackaged magicshine?

    Nope, they’ve repackaged our light.

does anyone have any experience of the spokeblokes lights reliability?

A group of us spent all last winter refining them before they were fit to sell. The bracket had to be redesigned to our spec – not sure if the ones in China have been fettled.

I still use the prototype three times a week – it’s had a battering and works fine.

Is the green back-light power switch annoying on those? I’d imagine it could be quite bright and distracting when out riding in the dark?

I’ve got one customer who said that, but the solution is to put a bit of black insulation tape over it…..

Got two handhelds and three kids – I think that’s the right ratio.
Awesome for kitchen floors / cars / insects, but will only last for 6 minutes per charge. That is a lot of sucking though.

They were made through a third party who must have sold the tooling to Magicshine – gawd knows.

Shame really, as if your light was £80 I would get it from you instead. It’s not fair you cannot compete on prices with the chinese.

Ours does come with the helmet mount, so all square really.

Yep, I'll have hyper 2.5 and hyper 3.0 with me – no Enduros though – only one left.

Apparently Earls Court is being redeveloped next year and the CS is going to be at the NEC. Not sure who told me that or if I was sober at the time.

We exhibited last year, and we're doing the same this year, so I get to stand in the same place for 4 days. Hmmmm.

Last year was a bizarre set up – there wasn't much to spend your money on (apart from us, obviously). This year is a bit different – and the Cycle Store is much bigger.

They won't give me any more free tickets, but if you use the discount code SPS you'll get 30% off or so. I might well get into trouble for that. Hey ho.

I know everyone raves about the £50 wonder, but the fact remains if you'd bought in the UK you'd have a replacement by Friday. Hey ho.

We sell the hydrapak 1.5ltr to fit the wingnut hyper 2.5 – it's what I use and I've not had any problems.
I do prefer bladders with wide necks over screw tops though – much easier to clean.

    spokebloke

You can use any bladder up to 3ltrs in the 3.0. I use a 2ltr in mine.

As for the models – I generally use a 2.5 and I've never found it lacking for space.
I'm doing the Beast this weekend and I'll take the 2.5 – it's amazing what you can cram in compared to a Cameltoe.

    Yep, we've got 'em. Here
    Best fit is a Hydrapak 1.5ltr – that's what I use.

Bumped into Mike Tindall in Waitrose – deceivingly big bloke. Brick shithouse, dressed like a sporty tramp.

At the Cycle Show last year I saw all the celebs being mobbed to varying degrees.
Contador – scrum 10 deep. Very popular.
Pendleton – Only viewed from the stage – probably best for her safety.
Shanaze Reade – nobody knew who she was – left her alone.
Eddie Mercx – Middle aged men reduced to gibbering idiots.

Anyone tried this? Seems like it might be a slightly better-built alternative to the cheapo warhorse:

    http://spokeshirts.co.uk/product.php?productid=16399&cat=0&page=1

A few people from here have bought one from us – seem pleased.

As for the new bastid, the old one was good because you could helmet mount it (like ours). The new one seems like it's got issues on the bars and even if you could put it on your lid, would you? If you did you'd never turn it on in case somebody saw you…..

Had a funny conversation with the kids recently trying to decide what voice they'd like to liven up the journey.

After much discussion the winner was Ned Flanders.

Kingswood down the hill from Wotton-Under-Edge not the shite hole in Bristol obviously you don't know the area.

I live in the 'good' Kingswood near Wotton-Under-Edge – excellent place to live. A few of my friends cycle in to Bristol – about an hour and 20 mins.
Good riding on the doorstep too.

Only problem with any area around Bristol is the motorway system – forget it in rush hours / weekends / bank hols. But I suppose that's the same with most cities.

    Ahem.
We are now bringing them in. I've got dirty great boxes full of them sat in my office.
The good news is that they're a new batch with an integrated bladder tube holder – we've been sorting this out with Scott (Mr Wingnut) over the last few months.
More good news – they're going to be cheaper than they used to be – we are selling them direct so no middle man.
Bad news – not online until tomorrow earliest – awaiting product shots for the site.
