Why are you zipping a PDF to start with?
Text weighs bugger all, so sort your images out (seems like a blind spot) and you’ll not need further compression.

cheers all, can’t compromise on image quality. even as it is some line images are too shonky.

This might be the issue. If the line images are shonky and you file size is 3gb you are in a whole world of resizing hell.

Images to be viewed on a screen don’t need to be more than 72 or 96 dpi if resized correctly – 300dpi at size on a screen is pointless.

Regarding the Wingnut quality issues – they changed their production mid-2010 from USA to China which might sound like a backward step, but was quite the opposite.

The bags are now made in the same factory as Gill sailing products and seem much better assembled than before.

Bit of a shame really… sorry to add this but not persuaded that the new site design is quite right.

As mentioned, still populating the shop.

Welcome comments on the new site too.

Oh, and the 2.5s will be back on the shop tomorrow for £60.

    Sort of.
New site went live on Friday and I’ve yet to fill the shop.
Only got about 10 2.5s left now – and won’t be getting any more in……

3 xp-g Troutie running on quite a wide diameter board (I’d previously only seen a triple on 20mm).

I’ve got a prototype – will sort out a beam shot when/if it stops raining.

I was going to sat the Spokeshirts light is a decent light for £100, but it doesn’t seem to be available as a set.

We’re out of stock of the big light at the moment – should have the next evolution in a couple of weeks – 1100 lumens for £129 – smaller than the Tiddler.

Got a few Tiddlers if you fancy a decent helmet light though.

Saw them at the London Bike Show yesterday – looks like an electric crack pipe to me.

Ditch the Big Fat Pig headset. It’s a bit crap, poor seals and weighs hell of a lot. Mine seems to be coming loose all the time as well.

    +1

Have to tighten before every ride. Going in the bin ASAP.

We have the use of 3 electric bikes. They are cheap Chinese ones and the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ applies especially to elecy bikes.

The electrics are shoddy to say the least, but once you get to know what’s what they are absolutely brilliant. Ours are 250w and are fine, but you can get bikes with larger motors.

We live about 1 1/2 miles from the nearest town and it is much quicker to get on the elecy bike and fire into town than to take a car and have to park etc.

On the continent they are much more popular – a mate in Germany says they’re more common than normal bikes.
I’m in the process of building a trailer with a hub motor at the mo.

And if you want a laugh take it to a party and watch people fly up and down the road on it whooping.

This might be a bit dangerous.
Just bought my first BMX since my Diatron Wildcat circa 1983.
My wife will kill me if the bike doesn’t.

I find that about 1000 lumens scares the living shite out of doggers.

I made up a tiny triple XPG (about 1100 lumens) helmet light as a prototype and found two things:
    1. I don’t need that much light.
    2. I could only use it when the ambient temperature was less than 5 degrees – cooling was an ‘issue’

Gone back to our Tiddler – 400 lumens with a tight beam is perfect for the helmet IMHO.

I did it this last year and contrary to psling thought there was loads of tarmac, especially the first 10km.
Also lots of unrideable stuff unlike the HONC which only had one unrideable climb last year.

    Beautiful scenery though.

Have a look at our new event Heaven

How much cheaper that free can you get, or 59p for that matter?

As an example, I downloaded Angry Birds on my Sony, and my son did the same on his ipod touch. Free versions mind you. He got 12 levels, I got about 50!

The ‘seasons’ version is free on Android, 59p on Apple.

You can get the simplicity sim with unlimited data for £17.50 a month – I use one.
Went from iphone to Sony Xperia mini pro and I’m very impressed with Android. My new phone has too small a screen to do it justice but the OS is better than Apple IMO.

I’ve also noticed that apps in Android are often cheaper than Apple, or you get a lot more for your ££.

I’d say writing off Android phones would be a huge mistake.

Oh and Spokebloke – sorry I didn’t buy one of your lights. Seems to have caused issues – hence you crashing this thread.

No issues in the slightest – I crashed the thread because I felt sorry for your vacuous post – thought it needed awesomising.

TJ – I really haven’t got the time or the inclination to read the other posts on the subject but I’m intrigued by the statement that animals don’t have rights.

In the early nineties I worked for six months in a factory that made small diesel engines. On the test bed (where I worked) there was a never ending supply of diesel which disappeared nightly in 5ltr bottles. 95% of the staff had diesel cars….

This was normal – there were some that took it further with diesel engined lawnmowers etc. Then they moaned that the company wasn’t doing well and it was the management’s fault. Now bust….
