Maybe fixing your shifter for free wasn’t on the top of his ‘to do’ list and was a little busy, fair enough if he was charging but what are gonna sell a knacked x9 shifter for? Nowt

so can the bolts that attach the ground anchor just be unscrewed, o do the heads come off or something (serious question, I am interested in getting something like this, I just don’t see whats to stop a thief unscrewing the bolts)

    POSTED 1 MINUTE AG

You hammer in ball bearings to the heads of the bolts

To be fair you can easily smash the bearing up ad be left with just the outer race of the cartridge and a tricky job, isnt really worth doing when you can get a new one for £16

I mean between the crown and the fork brace, to compress the fork.

Use a belt to compress the fork, usually does the trick

superstar hubs are crap, bearings fail after a few months, seem great to begin though! I’ve had hope xc’s for a while now and they’ve been faultless

Yep, fine, mine were like that a year ago when i bought them, hasn’t worsened or caused a problem, maybe just an effect of being in contact with the foam ring and sitting for a while? either way its no issue

I’ve had one of the cheaper plastic clamp workstands but they do deteriorate over time (although it got some use), got a Park Home Mechanic one now, £110 from merlin, excellent quality clamp and stand.

    Hi,
I run a bike repair and servicing business just outside of Longridge, i doubt i’m official enough, but ‘The Orange Apple’ in Longridge should be able to help. Although he isn’t an orange dealer.

My number is 07811353378 if you need any work done to your bike.

    Hope that helps,
    Sam

I’m pretty sure they aren’t properly floating like the motorbike ones, they are fixed.

or replace the whole thing with some Shimanos.

I am shocked and appalled that you said that. Shimano breaks are the biggest pile of crap i’ve ever seen, non serviceable and either on and off or pull to the bars.

is there an easy way to check frame alignment? seems like a hardtail is becoming more and more likely…

I asked trek about the part, part no 292904. They didn’t let me order it from them as im only a consumer…

Taking it back to the lbs isn’t really an option as i bought the frame second hand.

I think it’s the bolt that the bushing runs on is worn, when i got the frame about 6 months ago it had play in it so i replaced the bushing, maybe it was used for a while with play? wearing the bolt? It’s acting as a top hat spacer which you’d usually replace every once in a while. I don’t think the frame is out of alignment, not had any big crashes on it.
