Worked for a couple of years Purchasing for UK cycle company, trade (from UK distributors) is often more expensive than the big guys (CRC/ Wiggle etc), especially with delivery factored in. Savings can be made going direct to factory but only an option if you’re thinking of buying 200 group-sets for example.

Most architecture students seem to have skills in Rhino & SketchUp, but not in Revit/ Bentley/ etc.

Bit of a tangent but what software skills do you find practices are looking for the most from students & graduates?

Cheers for the responses so far, my knowledge of this stuff is stuck in the core 2 duo days so all insight is good. To clarify by ‘3D modelling’ at the minute that entails Sketch up but may include 3DS Max for example in the future. Our first year purposely avoided computer work so I’m only now discovering/learning to use what I’ll need over the next few years.

Ordered tuesday, called today after no response to an email, got through after 12 minutes and it’s still not left planet-x.

It only takes a bit of a notice on the site that orders aren’t leaving as quickly as they promise in the delivery section and it would be fair enough, but no contact two days after it should have arrived and it hasn’t even left their warehouse isn’t really fair. I understand that christmas can be mental for companies like planet-x but don’t advertise super fast delivery and the whole ‘order before 3pm shipped same day’ if you can’t provide it. An automatic email when i ordered to say they were running a bit behind would have saved me a lot of hassle and time and i would have understood, but don’t take my money if you know you can’t fulfil your side of the deal.

Ordered on tuesday, still on ‘waiting to be picked’ even though they claim to dispatch the same day if the order is before 3pm… £120 that i’d rather have in my account or in shoe form.

Have a look at the Gaerne range, CRC have lots of good deals on em, excellent shoes, hand made in italy, so so comfortably, noticeably better than my shimano shoes.

Perfectly reasonable price, they’ll probably be re-greasing and cleaning the bearings while they’re at it, its a pig of a job with a well used hub.

they do look a little strange just white, i’m thinking about stripping of the paint and polishing it to make it look a bit more bling

Alot of similar issues with elixir brakes, don’t think there’s much of a definite answer to it! Someone i ride with changed discs, bled them, changed pads numerous times etc everything you could think of to no avail, he ended up buying a hope tech m4. The front one hasn’t had the same problem though….

No those shoes are plenty stiff

i had the exact same issue, i moved the cleats forward quite a bit, just experiment with different cleat positions, it took me a few weeks to find a comfy position.

My king creaked like a bugger, couldn’t get it feeling solid either, always felt like there was a little play.

So i got the file out and filed off the crappy compression ring and fitted a split one out of the spares box, works perfectly now

brake cleaner designed for automotive use may be okay on motorbikes(dont take my word) but not for bikes, they contain a trace of oil to stop disc corrosion, which is easily burnt off by the temps car brakes get frequently.

So best of take the pads out first, then it should be okay

Slack and stiff 120mm rear, 130/140mm front bikes with through axles. Would be perfect for the UK.

Why isn’t he announcing it? not like it would effect the world as he’ll be riding for gb, hopefully that means he’s riding the Tour of Britain?

I just don’t think Sky could control the peleton like HTC did, i reckon he’d still get the stage wins, but it wouldn’t look as good or be as impressive as having the whole of HTC on the front, Sky’s leadout wouldn’t be as big i reckon

so whens he gonna announce it? Surely the deals done, and he’s under no agreement not to say now its September…

Would be very interesting to see what Renshaw can do on his own, he has the speed!

It’d be nice to have a team built around him again, it was really impressive when HTC decided they wanted the stage and had 9 men at the front of the peleton setting the pace, looked much more organised and effective than any other team.

Renshaws gone to Rabobank but i can’t see him following, i don’t know why i don’t want him to go to sky, and i like sky! I’d like him to join Garmin, probably cause i like the kit!
