I borrowed a rear bb7 in Sardinia this year as my rear Elixir had packed up.

In all honesty I couldn’t tell the difference between the bb7 & the Elixir’s (maybe a reflection of the elixir’s performance). The bb7 worked a treat and I was very impressed.

I’ve been wearing RaceFace Flank LW’s for the past 18 months – very comfy, not too sweaty and saved my knees when our local tree roots took to wearing copper slip!

Not going to add anything about lights as its been done to death already.

From past experience I recommend if it’s your first few times out at night it’s always a good idea to:

    1. have a back up plan in case it goes wrong,
    2. take a spare light,
    3. have a route planned and know where you are when on the route,
    4. make sure you bike’s in good working order before setting off,
    5. if you’re riding with someone else make sure they’ve done up their saddle pack before setting off down a long bumpy downhill that’s covered in fallen leaves unless you enjoy spending an hour or two searching for car keys, iphone, pump, etc….. :|
    6. avoid riding with certain mates if they repeatedly get knocked off their bikes by deer and/ or regularly crash into trees -unless, of course, you’ve a helmet cam :D
    7. keep pedaling like the clappers and don’t stop when being chased by a large angry Alsatian
    8. have fun :-)

Yes and proud to do so.

Why wouldn’t you want to wear one, especially if you’ve made a donation?

    How about Sardinia?

I went there this summer with the missus – its an amazing place.

Loads of great riding both on and off road,

    Brilliant food and wine,

Really friendly locals who love cycling,

    Hills and amazing beaches

    Very chilled, relaxed place :-)

…..so you come to Pompey on a wet miserable day with 30,000 other runners, manage to clog the place up and close the seafront and then you wonder why no one was excited!… :-)

Uses hydraulics anyway. Planes use hydraulics – go figure…

True, but plane hydraulics are designed for use at high altitude whereas hydraulic seat posts are not……

    Hi,

I’ve had my Venturi II jacket since Xmas – it’s great.

I use it as my main mtb jacket (thanks to underarm vents) as well as a general non-biking waterproof and it works a treat.

    I’ve just fixed mine.

Clamp the good piston with adjustable pliers (careful not to damage the surface of the piston – wrap plier jaws with electrical tape).

Lightly lube the sticking piston with a silicon lubricant.

Wait 5 mins for lube to penetrate.

Gently press the brake level till sticking piston works free (or blows your seals!!!!).

    Bleed brakes.

If this doesn’t work then as simondbarnes said and

Remove pistons. Chuck in nearest bin. Fit new pistons/seals. Bleed brake.

    Good luck :)

+1 for the Mazda 6 Estate diesel. Rear seats fold completely flat and very economical.

There’s some good riding around Porlock, Lynmouth and Minehead – I just used the map and rode whatever looked good.

Can get a bit boggy up on the moors.

And there was me thinking that you only did the course so your better half didn’t show you up on the skills front…

Now all you need to do is find an anti-faffing course and you’ll be all set!

    LOL – I’ve been rumbled…

Bigsurfer – I bought that very bikestand from Ribble back in the summer as it was the cheapest I could find.

When it turned up I discovered why it was so cheap – it’s crap!

The bike stand wobbles when used and the plastic/nylon clamp is very cheap and doesn’t look like it’d have lasted very long so I sent it back and swapped it for the Tacx Workstand T3050 Spider Team (far better construction and holds the bike steady).

I spent a week snowboarding in Serre Chevalier two years ago and had a great time.

There wasn’t a dedicated snow park when I was there but there’s plenty of fun to be had riding through the trees.

An excellent training aid as well as being handy as a bike computer (if a little bit on the pricey side).
Lets you know just how fast (or slow) you where going when crashing
Battery life is good, it picks up satellites reasonably quickly, has a solid mounting system for bars/stem and can be quickly swapped between bikes.

You realise that when she does we will have to pay for a 24 hour, 365 days a year guard for her tomb?

For two reasons, one, to protect it from dancers and streams of wee, and two, to make sure she stays in it…

    Yup, 2010 EX8.

    It’s the mutts nuts…

Only things that I’ve changed are:
    1. Swapped stem for a shorter one,
    2. Threw away the horrible Bonty tyres that came with it.

Apart from that it’s been brilliant and has so far with stood some very hard abuse without complaint.
