For balance I had a black Labrador with no helmet run into my bike a couple of weeks ago.
Knocked me off, luckily I was riding slowly up hill on grass.
The new bike ended up with one pringled wheel needing a new rim !

Oh, plus the dog didn’t have lights but I did !

I used to suffer with occasional attacks until last winter. Suddenly I was getting an attack every other week which really cut down on my ability to walk around and cycle etc.I have a very mixed diet so couldn’t immediately see a diet change that would help.

I used to go straight to Naproxen but following a kidney scare related to Naproxen I am now on Allopurinol every day.

Seems to be a safer bet than dealing with it when it arrives !

Looks like a bottle cage with the attachment plate removed !

Probably the ones that fell apart during production.

I trust you also apply the handbrake whenever stopped to avoid dazzling those waiting behind you with brake lights? Some of the newer Audi & Merc ones are so bright they make me feel nautious.

Unfortunately on the Merc the brakelights are linked to the automatically handbrake. Hence you can pull up to the traffic lights, putting your foot on the brake will automatically put the handbrake on in the ‘Hold’ position and leave the brake lights on.

I guess Audi uses a similar system.

@the pinkster how do you find the Decathlon chest light ?

Therefore was looking at it earlier but was put off where it looked like the beam was swinging around a lot.

partly bricking up a window to avoid a bit of a wet floor is worth the effort

I had a similar dilemma in a bathroom with a window in an unwanted area. I built a frame inside the window and filled it with some of the square glass blocks then plaster boarded round the rest of the window.

From the outside it looks like the full window, from the inside you can only see the much smaller 2 glass squares which still allow light through.

Ive got an excellent picture of a Toyota 4×4 parked at right angles across 2 disabled parking bays.

Unfortunately I have no idea of how to post the picture !

    @jameso

All good cheers, apart from the puncture I managed to get by Ivinghoe Beacon.

Need to go back and do it in the daylight to appreciate the views :)

What happened to the (excellent) Adaptalight lenses that Specialized were using?

I loved the ones I had as well, although the yellow frames were a little him.

Best riding glasses I’ve ever had until I snapped the frame 😥

I used to run a DMR Saturn ring on my SS.

Google suggests they are still available.

We had a Thule ‘Clip-on’ boot rack for years and it was one of the most solidly built and stable racks we’ve owned. It murdered the paintwork on the car though.

I also had a Thule Clip-on for my VW Touran. It carried 3 full suspension bikes no problems and never moved an inch. Absolutely rock solid as mentioned above.

Luckily I put helicopter tape over the rub points on the tailgate so my paintwork was fine.

Would definitely recommend one to anyone.

The only downside was the rear windscreen wiper couldn’t be used. I had to remember to switch the wiper off before engaging reverse to ensure it didn’t automatically start.

If you’re not the original owner I’m not sure why you expect any warranty support? You can be pleasantly surprised if you get it but almost no-one sells bikes with a transferable warranty.

Calibre warrantied a second hand bike for me 😀

    That was a £600 bike…..

The whirring noise and the the limp mode are the signs of the blades sticking on a variable vane turbo as used on the VAG engines. I had the exact same thing on a 140/170BHP VW PD engine.

You could try sticking some turbo cleaner through it, there are variable reports on whether this actually works or not.

Me, I just sold the car to a local garage before it got too bad.

Not seen a gas fitting like that before.

I suggest you check with whoever you borrowed it off

Not much difference in the diameter of the tyres but you would need to check the offset on the wheels.

Last winter I was running 4.8 Minions front and rear . Found these to offer better grip than the JJ in the really deep and sloppy stuff. Only down side was slightly more self steer at low pressures.

JJ for the rest of the year.

I bought a pair of Scott heaters gtx from start fitness at year in the sale with a 10% off voucher. I think they were about £60

I also bought a pair of these boots and was rather disappointed in them compared to my much older Shimano boots.

They seemed more waterproof but colder than the Shimano .

I’ve now got a second pop up appearing after clicking on ‘Continue to site’

Just then it kept sending me round in circles between the 2 pop ups.

    What’s going on here ?

@witterings  I’m similar to you, waiting on either the large Arkose 2 or 4 to arrive in stock. Certainly reluctant to put any money down until I can actually collect.

Ive been waiting for a couple of months now so I hope that the carpet isn’t pulled before they arrive.

@jameso Do you have visibility of when the 2019 Arkose range will be in store or be able to share specification details ?

I have money to spend but I’m currently waiting on seeing what the new colours and spec is before deciding whether to buy 2018 or 2019 model.

Try the likes of Kwik Fit.

They offer a service where they will recharge the system and add dye to it for leak checking.

If they cant sort the problem they refund the money.

Not sure of the details so please check……….

Why not let the wife drive the Avensis with all of the bikes in it and you just drive the S4 free of any additional lumps of metal on it ?

Plenty of riders heading out from Worthing or surrounding area.

Most for happy for someone to tag along and be shown the area including the cake and beer stops. You can’t go too far wrong to be honest.

Ensure a trip to Whiteways near Arundel as well.

Whereabouts will you be staying ?

I’ve never tried getting a bike in the back of the OH’s UP!

    (insert sexual innuendo here..)

If nobody has an answer for you directly I can give it a try tonight and see how it goes. I would have thought that with both wheels off it should be fine.

I’m surprised by the fat tyre comment as well.

I’m currently running 4.8JJ up there at the moment and found them to float over the deep gravel nicely as you would expect while my friends on skinnies were digging in.

@DezB – with Lloyds online banking you can now pay cheques in from the comfort of your home and no need to visit the bank. Just scan the cheque and you’re done :)

I’m sure other banks have a similar process.

Sounds a great plan to me but my main concern would be as mentioned above.

Coming off, injuring yourself then having anyone find you. There are a few hills were this could happen quite easily with a slight lack on concentration in the middle of the night.

Doing it with a full moon would certainly help with visibility and route finding, if a clear night of course.

I’m sure you could then ride many sections without lights for added experience.

Cycled through Angmering Park Estate on the South Downs the other day. This area is normally called the Somme for obvious reasons.

It was completely bone dry, first time I have ever remember seeing it dry in the 15 – 20 years

With the current conditions I would also recommend a dust mask.

Certainly my riding mates reckon that when following my fat bike :)

Bit worried about reports of ambulances leaving but no announcements.

This was the same when the first kids were rescued, it took a while for them to actually confirm that the boys had made it out safely.

That looks like a proper 4wd.

    Looks like a baby G-Wagon!

Looks just like the original SJ.

Loved the SJ that I had many years ago before it disappeared into a pile of rust.

I’m thinking that maybe the SDW locals like myself should club together and guide Poopscoop on his next attempt of this epic journey.

Let get him from start to finish in one piece !

    3rd time lucky they say……..

Also…..on A24 crossing…..I managed to back track WEST…. I didn’t even notice! Lost about 10 or more miles I was totally gutted… You have no idea.

How the hell did you manage this ?

Did you take the alternative route over the bridge into Washington then back up the Bostal Road then manage to cross the A24 again ????

Any way, keep the report coming as its keeping me smiling :)
