I've just measured up 2 x OS bars I have. One set is EA70 low risers and the other Kona low risers. Both have about 12cm from the centre of the clamp to where they are down to standard diameter. So basically about 24cm of bar that you couldn't cut. This area also seems to co-incide with the bend in the bars as well.
Not got any flat OS to check I'm afraid
Hope this gives you an idea.

Don't forgot people that this bill is for a quarter not a month although its still very high !
I know BT have made some changes to the why they bill me for my calls and broadband which might explain the one off charge – not sure.
As for the Openzone connection, this runs off your router as a separate connection. You need to go into your setting and try removing it from the list of your networks to connect to. That should stop it switching.
I think my quarterly bill was just over £100. I use around 10Gb per month.
You need to learn how to swap the wireless connection back – its very straight forward and should take you all of 30 seconds not days on the phone to India.

10p from Tesco seems to do me fine. But then I don't really care what the shade of light is ;)

I'm not saying its not a nice looking bike but why take a Humu Humu Naku Naku frame and cut the second tube away ???????

I think its the angle I'm standing at makes the colours seems a little strange.
Mind you I crouched down to look straight on at the screen and it doesn't really do it much justice to be honest !

Think the pink looked better than the little brownish colour….

Not sure you can call something pink a bad boy……

However, I have been tempted several times by the same bike.

Well its got the right rear stays for a Humu Humu Naku Naku and if he had the extra bar removed (god knows why) then no doubt he had the internal cable routing done at the same time.

So bascially is a nice frame that has been butchered……. :(

You 'may' have some issues with the front mech as its designed to handle a narrower chain. Nothing a quick tweek of the cage wouldn't sort.

I thought it was going to be someone had just ordered a 458 and wanting to know if they could fit a towbar for a thule rack, or a saris bones on the back.

More like 'Which fire extinguisher for a 458 ?' :)

Sorrry, but had to laugh when you fell over for the second time….

As for the orignal, that did look a long way down and sounds like the bike got off lightly !

As the others have said – just paid as part of salary but a separate line.

Work out how many business miles you are likely to do and sort out a tax rebate on it. This will then help offset additional tax.
My tax code is currently 1100 thanks to my mileage claim :)

I am also due one from British Gas but as said above I really don't see the point of it.
I already know that something switched on is using electricity and that the kettle uses more than my computer

My experience is pretty similar as above. I would 14mph is fine to maintain on the flat along with some freewheeling then egg whisks lol !

Legoman – on the bike I have just built for my son it has some simple Marz coil forks on it. I found them too hard for myself to compress so I removed the spring assembly from one leg and it now seems perfect for him :)

Another vote for the Ridgeback bikes. I have had both a 16" and a 20" wheel model for my lads – good resell value.
One then moved to a 24" wheel Kona Hula and the other has a 24" Hotrock.

The eldest had just moved from the Hula to a 16" Kona Blast that he helped me build up. His first build :)

So a Kona Hula about to be sold if anone is interested…

Yep reply address is fine as I receive normal replies, just not when I send to my distribution list !

Yes it happens with both direct replies and reply to all.
Tried to replicate with the wife replying to them but them works – then again she is using the same provider as me.
I'll have to check the email when it comes to the wife and take a gander at the properties of my address.
I'm not running my own SMTP server.
I guess I could also try sending from another account already set up as well.

    Hmmmmm

I've been been using a DMR unramped ring from CRC for a couple of years. Cheap as chips :)

    The easy answer is no.

However, how about getting her to try some gripshift instead of trigger levers ?
My wife finds them much easier to use. Also gripshift can be bought that will work on either Sram or Shimano (but not both due to different cabel pull)

I reckon a certain amount of this must be down to the new engine.

My experiences of teh VAG 140PS engine has been great. OK, its a little slow off the line to start but then get it above 1500rpm and everything is great. As for constantly changing gears – I find on the open road I often only use 3 – 4 of the 6 when accellerating up to speed. I find the ratios are very close and double shifting works just fine.
    Getting 25 – 30k out of a set of tyres is great…
Somebody mentioned service costs – are diesels really more to service nowadays ? OK the longlife oil isn't cheap when you only have to change it every 20k miles it doesn't exactly burn a hole in your pocket.

My last time was last month. I was trying to show my son and his mates what a 'manual' was.
I borrowed one of the kids BMX to demo………never been on a BMX before….
Anyway ended up falling off the back or it in a heap on the floor – they laughed and I cried ;)

I'm just off to the hospital now to have an operation on the prolapsed disc I caused, exactly 2 years since the the last operation caused by a similar exploit :(

One day I might learn, but until then….

    never put GT85 on forks

Out of interest why is that ?

Been using it on my All Mountains 1's for about 4 years now. No issues with seals or the stanchions……

I use http://www.interparcel.com and use the Economy service. This is delivered by UPS and they have always collected and delivered next day despite claiming it is a 48hr service.

Has the rider of that IF(?) lost his right arm as it looks like half the bars have been cut down ?

It can be fun at time when you are bored to trawl through eBay and look at soem of the fakes on there – always great for a chuckle :)

its getting worse now my 10 yr old is getting into it 2

Give them another couple of years and you can move your bike to the kids and then buy yourself something new and spanky.

Just bought 2 x 16" frames this week to build up for my kids. The wife still can't understand it despite having a nice Cannondale parked in the garage………..

Get her to talk to Mamadirt, who buys another tiny bike every other day, and has just 2 pairs of shoes. Then she'll feel better.

..and both of those pairs are probably for riding ;)

You could introduce them to each other although Mama is from around Newport I believe…

Let me get this straight from the start – no I'm not a like minded woman, unfortunately neither is my wife.

The downside to your wife being interested however is that your bike spend fund / spend now needs to go round 2 people instead of just yourself.
I hope you haven't shot yourself in the foot here ;)

Nope – they look the same and both hold your seat in place.
Save your money for something else IMO

In that case then I would go for Whites over the Wall. The long fireroad climb in the Wall would probably kill hte excitement of his first ride.
At least the Whites climb can be a grind but interesting at the same time.

When you say he has only ridden on the road before – do you mean he is a roadie and has strength and stamina or do you mean he cycles down to the pub ?

If he only cycles to the pub then he is going to struggle on any of the climbs and terrain in Afan IMO.

I believe that the range in 27.2 posts is very limited. I was reading a similar thread on here not that ago from somebody asking the same.
Might be worth doing a quick search and see if you can find it.
