You will be able to use any Shimano rear mech with the shifters.
It doesn’t matter which model it is…..

Grant has that got particularly long forks on it ? Just looks very slack. Maybe its the angle of the bike or something.

    Here you go…

Looks like its around the right price.

Oh and of course you need to be careful of situations where shops put items on a clearance price and suddenly you want more for your 2nd hand item then it can be purchased for new !
Why not have a search through the Classifieds and see what other people have been asking for.

Just put the price up of what you are after but add you will be happy to take something in part ex.
I reckon it would be easier to sell it and then find a frame you want afterwards.

    Just my opinion :)

    Oh, I’ll give you £50 posted ;)

the bike went completely out of control fishtailing

that does sound horrific.. and VERY dangerous.. We should mount a campaign to get them banned immediately before someone gets seriously hurt..

yep – ban them now, then virtually every member of Sussex MTB will have to buy new tyres.
Well apart from me coz I have never run a Highroller.

I feel a letter to Watchdog coming on ;)

I hope they aren’t laying more lumps of concrete on the track this time !
Last time I went I remember that a number of the muddy holes had basically been filled in with what looked like builders rubble :(

Here it was in its former glory before the rigid forks.

I’ve had a pair for a couple of years on my SS so not used heavily. Not touched them since I’ve had them and they run super smooth and straight. They do seem to be a good second hand buy.
That said I got mine in a wheel deal from Merlin for £200 including a set of brakes so was happy.

Doesn't it use needle bearings rather than bushings in 'normal' forks?

However, the selling point on this is that you will need to sell your gran when they go wrong…

Well I'm lucky as I run my Dawg with up to 150mm on the front as its so solid. This makes it lovely and slack on the downs but a bit twitchy on the climbs at times.
I'm looking forward to riding something that pedals like my Hei Hei on the up and like the Dawg on the downs. That would make me very happy :)

I'll have to check the exchange rates when (if) they finally release the UK prices.

Juan – thanks for that summary on it. It just makes me want one even more to replace the aging Dawg I have. I have read that the key to getting it to ride sweetly is setting the magic link.

In terms of the head angle I understand they have slackened it slightly for the 2011 model from 69 to 68 degrees. Some other minor changes as well.
<Starts jumping up and down> I WANT ONE NOW :)

lol – there seems to be very little feedback about them yet. I don't think they could have sold many of the 2010 models.
There still isn't any pricing available for the 2011 models in the UK.

Go on then – tell me all about it………….

Juan – stop trying to tease me !

I know that a 17" will be too small me luckily.
Can't wait to actually see one in a shop over here and throw a leg over it :)

I'm surprised that you managed to break the bolt at such a low torque to be honest.
I would have thought they would have handled signicantly higher forces than that.

Strangely enough I was looking for these on CRC this morning but noticed they only do black and silver now :(
Not looked anywhere else yet but I was after some gold ones.

WEll I'm more than happy that it has effect on me :)

I could barely make it up the stairs without severe knee pain for months. A couple of weeks after taking it – no pain at time. Obviously just timing.
The same sort of timing that after a couple of weeks of not taking it the knees are killing me again !

Time to go find my tablets – placebo or not – its works for me…..

I got a DMR Saturn ring cheap as chips from CRC. Loads of different colours and sizes.

I have a nice CycleOps Mag drive with cable adjustment on it which has been hanging on the wall of my garage most of its life.

    Like this[/url]

Some people swear by them but other like me just swear at them. Bit of an impulse buy that didn't really work for me. I'd rather just head out for pootle.

We are still good friends tho she is married to a friend of mine now ;)

It really shouldn't change things if you are both consenting and realise its a one off type event.

There is no problem with the front shifter when using a double front mech. The mech just wont allow the shifter to do the final shift.
I using a triple front mech but its adjusted to only allow shifting between the 2 rings and not onto the bash ;)

Another vote for a 36t ring

I run 2.4 WTB Timberwolfs on my Dawg. Look pretty much like MX tyre.
Not very fast but great through thick gloopy stuff :)

Soundsa reasonable price but bear in mind that Giant's are heavily discount at the end of model year – so about now.
Should be fine for a starter bike. The forks are reasonable basic so check them over carefully.

I reckon that Marz are making a come back. The new 44 range looks good VFM and with their no service warranty for 5 years…..(I think)

    I would be tempted :)

Lookn to have some extras thrown in such as servicing. This is of value to you but of lower value to the garage. A win-win.
New tyres on the car as well ? Get them to fit them….

Anyway surf_matt will be along in a mo….

For the past 6 years or so I've also used rucksac type bags. Very comfortable to wear, plenty of pockets etc.

Got both of mine from PC World I think, made by Techair
