where are you based koval? If your in South Wales you can come and try my 16″ out for size, i’m 5’9″ but have short torso long legs so always get caught out on sizing, went 16″ in the end , slightly short in the tt at 23″ effective but it suits me

yeah the BigWig stays are 445, can’t say I’ve noticed it feeling barge like, it jumps well (skills park at afan) corners very well and whips through singletrack, i’ve got external lower cup headset with a 120mm xfusion fork to slacken it off a bit. It also quite a bit cheaper than the other options (Paradox, Yelli etc)

i’ve got the finalised geo sheet for the bigwig if any wants it
email me spev11 at gmail.com and i’ll send it on

It’s a bit of a pain as they are in storage, I’ll get them and fit them though as I may want to use em in the summer

We have a multitude in our riding group, the Charge Cooker Hi is good but no lightweight, the On One is great and I love my Kona Unit but they are all steel and a bit portly, . You can jump on ’em as well, we rode them at the Afan Skills Park and clearing the tables was no problem.

we charge £20 per wheel if you bring all the bits in, usually free if we supply all the bits (unless its something really odd like snowflake lacing etc)

I’ve got a pair on my unit, only had one ride so far but I’m impressed so far ( I’ve got a pair of x-fusion vengeance on my full sus which I’ve ridden much more and they are superb)

yeah thats what I decided last night, if I can find a 30t front ring then I’ll give that a go. Trying to get a simple set up without knackering my already dodgy left knee is complicated 🙁

I’ve just ordered the bb face/taps having used them in my previous employment, the head tube one doesnt do 44 unfortunately, can’t see us having much use for it mind( that means I’ll have 5 in tomorrow to do 😳 )

Icetoolz do some very good tools( much better than cyclo) , if you have an account with windwave you can get em a bit cheaper as well

duirdh, the capreo wont fit my mega (and neither will v-brakes) so smart comments about whether we need disc’s or not are not relevant really.
I’ll most likely go 38t and see how it goes, think I’ll get rid of the 11t as it probably the gear I use the least (pump rather than pedal DH as i’m getting on a bit now 😆 )

not worried about the weight (well not until I shift a bit off myself), not sure whether to go for the 38 or the 41 at the moment

    Scott Timber bought in 92
Here it is at the top of Kilvey Hill

I added an 150mm long Kalloy Stem in light anodized blue soon after this,
replaced it in 94/95 with a Specialized Rockhopper Comp

Anybody tried this? I’m gonna give it a go on my mega I think, not sure whether to loose the 11 or strip a cassette down and custom ratio one up

The neighbours havent mentioned it but they are a bit odd (and don’t comunicate other than to express jealousy), the water system around here is odd (along with a lot of other things) and very old. I’ll take a sample and keep complaining.
Cheers for the offer of the filters, keep me posted i’ll certainly take you up on it.

We have a recurring problem with the water smelling a bit sulphery (is that a word?) and occasionally it goes a browny colour (even more so after heavy rainfall). Welsh Water have assured us its safe (and it probably is) but its unsightly and puts you off drinking it. We have a water jug from Brita but its a PITA refilling the damn thing

I’ve got the air sprung version and they are superb I see no reason why the coil ones wont be any different (except heavier)

I’ve got 170mm hlr’s on my mega, great fork and highly recommended.

I’ve got one on the front of my unit, much better than the rapid rob that was there, found it grippy enough at Afan skills bit on Sunday, will test it further on the weekend. Not convinced I need a super tacky rubber for this bike( after all i spent 15 year on all manner of shite tyres and didn’t die)

Some good info, cheers all. The Kronolog is the cheapest (bar the gravity dropper copies) with fixed cable so i’d consider one as a last resort. I’m gonna strip the frame down for a clean if I get the chance tomorrow so i’ll have a good look at the cnc seatpost junction

I’ve got a pair of HLR Air on my Mega, only had them 2 months so not needed to service them yet. They have performed superbly so far so i’d imagine the Coil HLR,RC and DLA models will be equally good (although I prefer the simplicity of fixed travel forks)

I did have the same problem last week but put it down to me clipping it on a gate at Afan. I did think about tapping a thread into the drive side of it so I could fit a bolt.

I dunno, my Billabong winter suit seems to be just as warm as my Xcel 654 (Billabong own Xcel), fit is paramount though, I tried a C-Skins suit and couldn’t get it to fit snugly, maybe i’m an odd shape though

    you tried http://www.wetsuitoutlet.co.uk

both usually have some deals on suits, finding anything in a medium is not easy though

Rowan came to look at ours but during the original process(before parks got involved) the council guy was a complete tosser. It looked like we wouldn’t get it but then parks sorted it. Ours is a tidy size but is a one lap only track with only the one line.we’d have preferred a loop with line switching but beggars can’t be choosers. It cost In the region of 15k ( I think) , I’ll see if I can find some pics to give you an idea of what we have

We’ve recently had one built in Clyne Valley (Swansea) by Jason Carpenter.
Im not 100% on the financing of it but the Council Parks Dept paid some of it and had a Euro grant for the rest ( I think)
    http://www.dragondownhill.co.uk/2004site/BMX.htm
that’s Jasons website, we had some problems but in the end the Parks Dept worked really hard to get it sorted so I’d start there if I were you.

My brother phoned Customer Services and they sorted it out, just waiting for the unlock code now (can take up to 7 working days), phone em again and insist (theres a link on the Orange website with the details, just quote that to them)
