None listed on importers b2b (in any size)

As Nicolaisam said above, Banshee Prime meets your criteria, the pre 2017 models in XL are 480mm reach the 2017 models are 484mm, they have a low standover so dont look like a garden gate 🙂
And weight wise mine is 31lbs with heavy tyres(conti baron and mountain king) and a brand x dropper, hope hubs, pikes, slx mostly and clipless pedals, could knock a couple of pounds off if I tried but I cant be bothered.
Also the 2017 have a choice of dropouts allowing all kinds of 29/29+/27.5+ shennanigans.

I’ve got a large so I’m a little biased, have slack bushes and a 2 degree headset to stretch the wheelbase and drop it down to 65 degree, to be honest it was great without but i’ts a superb bike with.

Pcworld and Curry’s are hard to avoid if you want to look at stuff before you buy it, but yeah they should have gone on the list a while ago. Amazon are on for those reasons and a whole bunch more.

And thats it, PC world’s useless Know How helpline finally got back to me to arrange collection and changed their minds completely, told me to take it to the local store. There I had to have it tested by a staff member (didnt want/know how to do this), so we phoned the CC department (again) and finally got a solution. Under SOG they offered a depreciated value of £280(which is pretty much what the SOG guidance says so cant complain too much-I did but to no avail), initially in vouchers for their store but after vowing never to shop there again (due to the shoddy “customer” care) they are crediting my bank.
Not happy at all but that’s all i’m likely to get out of em.
You may have more luck but I doubt it. PcWorld and Currys now added to Amazon as shops I’ll not use 🙂

When I spoke to them the second time they tried to find a logic board and failed but you never know. If you go down the consumer law route you just have to take it to the store and let them deal with it, don’t take no for an answer though. Once they have it , its up to them to either source the part or if unavailable to replace it 🙂

I use LV for my 08 Scudo, I find em very reasonable, worth a pop

After another call to Apple (as I’d emailed them and they instructed me to do so again) which came to nothing apart from being advised of the comsumer law ( 6 years from delivery- so pretty much any 2011 macbook pro falls under this). I duly trotted off to PcWorld to be told that the shops dont deal with it you have to call our customer care number (0344 561 1234).
The pleasent young man explained to ask for the “out of warranty dept” and all would be dealt with there. Phoned them explained the problem and my dealings with Apple to be told that the team would arrange to collect it, there would be a charge of £60 which would be refunded after the repair/replacement (if it is under the fault that Apple acknowledge).
They know the problem with the Macbooks and, whislt being a bit coy are quite helpful so im hopeful that it will be resolved soon.

gavtheman, where did you purchase yours from? If isn’t one of the Apple official stores then the above will apply just in a different way.

Pc world would be the normal first port of call, but this all rests on that link in my first post which encourages you to contact apple as they feel best equipped (and after the court ruling that led to this solution) to deal with it to the customers satisfaction

I get all the go to pcworld stuff, my argument revolves around them agreeing to do it if the part was available and the fact that if it failed last month, under their own terms they would have sorted it out. What if the part wasn’t available in December when the foc offer was on? No one at Apple will answer that

spev

Grahamb , yes Ive pretty much been there, after much discussion and them saying they would repair it FOC it appears that the part in question isnt available anymore. Obviously they stamped on them all on the 1st January.
I think you going to find the same problem when you do get to the store, although if you do manage to get it repaired then both the senior advisors have been lying to me (and Stormfront Ltd) who confirmed that the part is out of stock.
Ive also checked various websites who offer parts for macbooks and they all list the offending part ( logic board) as out of stock with no supply date.
I suspect if the machine had been purchased from an Apple Store not a reseller we’d have more clout but as Swansea doesn’t have an Apple store we resorted to pcworld.
I;ve just fired off an email to their contacts/complaints dept so will see what they say.

It was on finance, it’s 5 years ago so digging around for paperwork at the moment

I’ve spoken to two senior advisors. I’d nip to the nearest genius bar but it’s 50 miles away. Apple have published an admittance of manufacturing fault so that’s a bonus, will give them another ring maybe

yep Jam Bo thats very much like it, cantfor the life of me find the scott version though, sure it was at EuroBike a couple of years ago

I’ve got one, it’s excellent, not tried + in it yet but not that interested, it’s very capable and unlike most 29ers ( I’ve ridden quite a few). I agree that the build price could be high, I was lucky as I already had everything bar frame and fork. Its hard to compare to cubes and the like as itsoon less trail bike and more enduro (I hate that term, but it’s the nearest to how it feels). It covers rough ground almost as well as my dh bike.
If your near Swansea come throw a leg over mine for a test ( if you have a local dealer ask about special offer frames, ison have some in sizes)

cheers Psycorp , i’ll measure my Banshee Prime when i get in later so i have a proper numbers comparison, the banshee is pretty good but I’m not sure what the actual measurement is

spev
Full Member

Psycorp if you could yes that would be tremendous. It’s odd that, although i’m 5’9″ i’ve got longer legs than my mate whos 6’1″, i’ve currently got a large Banshee Prime which is about 760mm so ideally i’d like it to be around there somewhere, the large Parkwood is 840mm which is mental high really.

What’s the standover like on the primal plus? I tried a large parkwood and even with my 32″ inseam (I’m 5ft9) I needed Elton John’s 70S boots

I’ve got a pair of M200’s, cant find owt wrong with em , 6 months of off piste South Wales and a summer Mini DH series and they are not dead yet (I can kill a pair of shoes in 3 months so i’m happy), i’ve also got a pair of MT91’s which I love but there a little tight on me so dont use them much, but there are good if you like a big shoe.
I wont wear anything that doesn’t have some kind of ankle protector though.

I’ve got a 2008 scudo combi ( with windows all around, barn doors), speed limits are same as my car, it’s on my sun visor along with height and width reminders, dunno if it’s cos it’s got windows though. It had been converted from a stock empty shell to have 4 removable rear seats by a Midlands youth offenders unit.

Ooo Vantage R Plus eh, will a 29×2.4 go in there do you think?
Blog layout is ok but I prefer the text on the left pic on the right, dunno why I have the same problem when a magazine lays a page out that way as well.

Its THEBIKEHUB deviant , always try to help if we can, could probably squeeze it in Monday if that helps

Like I said, phone me tomorrow if your near to Swansea and i’ll fit it if you get it to me early enough ( We keep Saturdays relatively clear of jobs for this reason) bear in mind that the lower mount runs through the lower link so will need the cranks and rear wheel removing to ensure the lower link and chainstays don’t fo flapping in the wind, its not a 5 minute job so will more likely cost around £20 or so (depending on bolts being seized etc)

Where in South Wales are You? Give me a ring tomorrow if you near Swansea (Thebikehub 01792 466944) and as long as we can establish correct length etc I can most likely fit in in tomorrow for you

24 years here, Scott Peak in 92, upgraded to a new Specailized Rockhopper in 96, tried a Proflex 856 for a bit then swapped back and fore between a variety of fs and ht bikes up to the present day where I’ve just completed a summer mini dh series at 46

Ah go on then, I love a dog thread 🙂 this is Molly the rescue collie, terrified of everything when we first got her (still scared of horses, sheep and pigeons taking off)

have a look and see if the inner arches(plastic) are secure, mine came loose and flapped into the wheel, rubbing a wheel shaped section away

Right, sorry for the massive delay, work has been crazy busy,
here’s the rear with a Conti Speedking 29×2.0, 50mm at its widest on Halo 29er (23mm internal) rims

loads of room there

this is an Onza Ibex 2.4 (its huge) 58mm wide on the same rim

fits ok, bit tight down at the chainstays

the only other tyre I had to try was a Conti Mountain King 2.2 (56mm on the same rim) but its much smaller than the Onza

spev

Ah right I think I might have a schwalbe of some kind there as well, it’s gonna be like kwikfit later

spev
Full Member

What 2.25 tyre you thinking of? I’ve got some conti speed kings in 2.1, a conti mk2 in a 2.1 (which blows up big), a der Baron 2.4 and a onza Ibex 2.4 I can try. I’ll report back once I’ve had a go ( will try for decent pics to show clearance as well)

I’ve got a 08 Scudo LWB that has removable rear seats, when I want to use it for camping I whip em out and bolt in an IKEA sofa bed (obviously not for passenger use) and away I go. It’s basically a metal tent and as i’m used to camping it suits us fine. We’ve made an awning/shell tent that fits over the barn doors so I get and extra 2 foot or so for bike storage, everything else goes under the bed when it’s out.
Depending on how we feel I either take a 2 ring coleman dual fuel burner or a single ring gas burner ( and eat out for a bit of comfort)
It’s not glamorous or luxurious (unless your comparing it to a tent) but it’s good for a couple of days away.

What size and colour is it wicki?

spev
Full Member

cheers Wicki, the extra 6cm is going to bugger the handling up completely, only asking as I’d found a frame on ebay for £99, not a bargain if I have to buy the forks as well.

Works components reach adjustment headsets are 5 to 7mm long depending on type, combined with a truvativ 60mm stem surely that’s long enough?
What frame is it?

spev

And in fairness she does get a dentistick between the evening feed and the morning so we aren’t starving the bugger ( she looks at us like we are though)
