I’ve used em for about 5 years now, not daily but for riding and surfing. I find them perfectly fine and comparable to the Boots ones I used before. I do find the right eye tricky to get in for some reason (might just be me). Can’t honestly say they dry out quickly (I left em in overnight once and they came out fine) but I usually take them out out after whatever activity I’ve been doing is over (for surfing they come out immediately)

Genetic do a Flare and a Digest Bar with varying degrees of “flare” have a look

    http://www.geneticbikes.com/products-list.php?cat=H

i had Flares on my last build, nice without a massive flare to the drop, Digests going on the next one

    they not too expensive either

I was hoping to do Eastridge, will see how it pans out. I’ll be out of Vets and into Grand Vets in 2 years, problem is all the other fast buggers will go with me 🙂

Might go have another go at 6 feet under this weekend, I live reasonably close to Afan.

I raced, did ok for my first enduro, I don’t really do competitive pedalling 😀 apart from from mini dh races. Surprised to see how many in veterans though, the mini dh usually tops out at 20 odd.

Off to do some sprint training so I don’t end up blowing out of my arse at the next one 😧

there’s that as well, the footage of the camera flying down the trail was funny though, under the down tube is quite good, facing through the fork, but I find most POV footage either makes me sick after a while or it makes everything look flat.

Its good if its used sparingly with static and panning footage though

I’d not recommend it, last time I tried I used a GoPro roll bar mount, no matter how tight I did it up, it rotated, inner tubes under the clamp, bits of rubber, gaffer tape, nothing stopped it moving. To the point where it went in my wheel and got flung about 50 yards down the trail in front of me.

Maybe you could rig something up from the disc brake mounts? at least it wont be able to rotate then

17, 1974 Mini Clubman Estate in teal blue, ah I loved that car, shared it with my Mum (who also loved it)  wish I still had itm would make a great surfboard carrier (although my 10ft would look ridiculous on the roof 🙂 )

BBB do a really long post (450mm if memory serves)  looking at the Giant Anyroad in large thats in the shop for service thats got an enormous length post on it, easily 300mm out of the frame (i’ll measure it when I pop in)

    edit: http://www.ison-distribution.com/english/product.php?part=SPGUL09K

ison lofty post at 450mm, should be long enough 🙂

The thing is I’ve been throwing together weird drop bar/flat bar, funny ‘tache bar bikes together for nearly 25 years, I’ve no idea why (might be age) but the more I look into gravel/cross hybrid conversions the more I confuse myself. I suspect i’m just over thinking it 🙂  (not something that usually applies to me)

If i’d decided 10 years ago to do this I’d have just “done it” to paraphrase Nike 🙂  now I think i’ve just read to much about geometry. I’ve got a Singular Buzzard frame just hanging about i’m just gonna throw bits at it until it looks like a burly Singular Kite 🙂  i’ll post photos and reports with both wheel sizes once I’ve built it (and maybe fallen off it)

I know, I’m knocking up a spreadsheet as I type, as I’m thinking of trying 650b I’m worrying a little over bottom bracket height(probably needlessly as I’m going single ring)

Once I find a frame with reasonable clearances I’ll get started

Not overly concerned about weight really, can’t imagine a decent hybrid(like those cube frames on bikediscount) are much heavier than most. I’ve always had steel hardtails so anything will probably be lighter 😀

I’m not criticising gravel bikes , more trying to knock one up on the cheap I’ve got all the parts to build either  a road bike, gravel, cyclocross or some kind of weird hybrid of the three.

We have a Giant Anyroad in for servicing and  it got me thinking .

After watching some of the flat out nutiness he is saying ( I think, the audio is appalling) that regular bikes and cars need fuel but racing ones don’t.

He is a properly angry man

yes!!!! i have a new light entertainment loon to investigate now that iv’e exhausted the Flat Earth Society website (seriously worth a read for pure entertainment mixed with befuddlement).

    How do their brains work?

Might be worth looking for a cheap compact camera that has a time lapse mode and get a bar mount for it, also more usable as a day to day camera then as well.

Just had a look at the kickstarter page, looks good but they state the battery will last about 2 hours in time laps mode. Doesn’t mention if you can connect a usb power pack to it (or a dynamo) which is a shame if you cant.

Why not get a cheap(ish) 27.5 frame like that Brand X from CRC, some fat 26″ tyres (Hans Dampf or WTB Ranger 2.8) throw it all together and see if it works? cant see why it wouldn’t, slightly lower BB (prob the same as an older specialized) shouldn’t be a problem at most trail centre’s

Dunno about the lakes i’m too far away 🙂

in the van i’ve got 2 of these https://www.seasucker.com/collections/rack-accessories/products/20mm-fork-mount

bit limited as cant be used with anything other than 20mm (or 15mm if you buy that size)

I’ve also got some Sram 20mm ones than can be adapted to QR and to 15mm with a shim but they not available anymore as far as I know

this seems like a good option as its 15mm and QR compatible (i’ll probably get some next)

I’m 5’10” on a large, 150mm brand x dropper at its lowest and it fits me, I have gorilla-ish arms and legs though. Where are you? if you are near Swansea then your welcome to sling a leg over mine, if not I can go measure the standover height for you in the morning if that helps?

ah figured as much, as he’s got a replacement I’m going to try and get the head off it and see whats in there, looks like they have crimped the steel over on the lower section so no joy down that end

Cotic BFE or Soul? Both around £1600ish
I’ve got the new Bfe and its a great bike, replaced my Mega as my do it all bike and, whilst I’m biased towards hardtails I’m finding it more fun and involving than any bike if had for a while.

Could be worse, it could be UPS, they keep taking our deliveries to our competitors warehouse about 5 miles away in a different postcode ( I say competitor but I mean they deal in the same trade but are massive and we are tiny). Out of the 10 most recent deliveries 5 have gone there

Yeah got a medium , I’m 5’9″ , 160mm forks , so far rides awesome, very stable at speed, easy to whip around corners and just plain fun to ride. I’m not a mad fan of strava ( I only compare my own times- pointless looking at others due to differences in GPS quality)but I had it on for my last ride and got a 3 PB’s , whether that’s because its faster or just because I enjoyed riding it more than the previous bikes I’m not sure. If you in or near Swansea and want to cock a leg of a medium then get in touch.

Just fitted a Brand-X 150mm dropper, if it’s as smooth and reliable as the previous 120mm one then its another bargain. First ride last sunday was a riot, absolutely mental 🙂
Anyone fitted 26+ to theirs yet?

Right then, lets try this, Bfe, Medium with loads of stem spacers and no lawn (although my wall could do with a repaint)

As promised, it arrived and i’ve built it. I’ll make no apologies for not lining my tyre logos up or for the stem spacers, i’ve not decided how high I want the bars yet. I’ve left my forks at 160mm to try em out but i’ll prob drop em to 150mm next week

I’ve just had my racing jackets done by Ciliary Blue, very pleased with them. If yours aren’t on the list email them and double check, mine weren’t but they’ve done them.

Check everywhere not just local or near vicinity.
My mates bikes were stolen from Swansea, found one being sold on eBay in Bognor Regis, he had a couple of bikes I recognised from a robbery in Thetford. He’s still trading on eBay as well, highly suspicious.

How tall are you? Banshee Phantom? there are limited sizes available for the 2016 version, you’d have to see what your local dealer can do (Ison Dist are the supplier).
