try Lake ExtraWide https://lakecycling.com/collections/extra-wide
they only do a couple of models but a mate had a similar problem getting a wide shoe that actually was on a wider last (not just a wider body on a standard last) and the lakes are his go to shoe now.spevFull Membercheers tidy that, I have no idea why I thought it was a plane though 🙂
taspevFull Memberso apart from NBT ‘s tandem up there i’ve also looked at
https://speed-cycles.com/cadre-tandem-vtt-29275-aluminium-c1387431-exs-24808-p.aspnow I know theres another thread about this particular frame (i’ve found it and read it) and the concerns over tyre clearance but no one has actually said what they have in there. Anybody got any experience with one and what tyre do you have in there? (29 or 27.5 )
taspevFull Memberah cheers, I’m really after a disc rear, frame only would do me, i’ll keep trawling, unless someone has one of those french ones that were mentioned a while ago and can give some info regarding rear tyre clearance with 29 or 27.5
spevFull MemberI use these in my van http://www.peruzzosrl.com/en/bike-carrier/accessories/art-407.php
I had to make little “L” brackets to attach them to the floor (they are meant to convert QR roof carriers to take bolt through). They fit 15mm boost and non boost and 20mm so quite handy.
They retail for 20 quid, any LBS that deals with Raleigh can get them for youspevFull MemberAtmosphere usually good, its more of a laugh for most people, there’s usually a couple taking it way more seriously than they should but that’s in every race type (people warming up on a turbo to do a XC fun cat race back in the 90’s for example).
Personally I’d enter your age category and do it on your Soul, the hardtail cat is full of loons 🙂If your near FOD they have a Mini Enduro there, Afan have 2 events over one weekend in April (the sunday is a Mash Up type thing where you can do as many runs of each stage as you can manage)
spevFull MemberGeforce Junky, thats how observant I am, didn’t notice they were yours 🙂 i’ll message you about postage etc if you dont mind
spevFull MemberGeforce junky, yeah saw them they both for collection and it’s a little to far from Swansea to Stoke or Dursley 🙂
Neil, already had a pair of 29er wheels off you from the £100 offer(brilliant thank you) but I didn’t see any plus width rims there ( I may be wrong)
spevFull Membercheers all, I like a fiddle and making stuff but if its not going to be working well then I wont bother. It was only for a a stop gap pair of plus wheels
spevFull MemberI can get my hand on (but not for about a fortnight) a Hope 150mm hub for free. Just idle speculation until I have it in my hand really. I could just use a 142mm hub and a spacer kit (as I have one of them) but my mind wandered off and here I am 🙂
spevFull MemberBigwill , you will find that your LBS will (if at all) only need(or indeed want) to stock one or two XT rear mechs so there is isn’t much discount for 1 or 2, if they were to order 100 or so then there would be a larger discount therefore a great margin (in CRC’s case to discount further than anyone else can).
As an example that particular mech you mentioned, yes RRP is £89.99 for the short cage, CRC will sell it you you for £59.99, most LBS could probably meet in the middle somewhere about £75 or so.
Also maybe your local shop may fit for free or at a discounted price (we would usually offer a price to supply and fit which would be the same or a little under the RRP). Unfortunately most people don’t often give the LBS the chance to offer any as the assumption is that CRC is cheaper (it isn’t always and sometimes their RRP is way off). Also to save on the postage and to keep stock moving we order when we need it so the 2 or 3 day wait is sometimes to much for people.
Not critivising anyone for buying online as sometimes its inevitable that value (whether price, speed of delivery or choice) will win out, but value is subjective.spevFull MemberPut the bars up higher? If theres enough spacers on top then try that, makes a huge difference to riding steep stuff as it will put your weight back a bit. Or try some 40mm rise bars, those Renthals look like the 10mm rise which is fine for hooning about, for steep i’d try higher
spevFull Memberhow long are the stems on each? stem angle? bar height?
the longer wheelbase alone makes the Fugio more stable and (in my experience) less tiring to ridespevFull MemberDone , PAT dogs are awesome (all dogs are awesome but PAT ones are awsomer 🙂 )
spevFull Memberyeah they seem to be ticking along http://zealousbikeco.com/
not convinced by mega short chainstays but then what do i know 🙂
as for the ad, it is certainly suspect but then you never know (i’ve had customers unable to remember what brand bike they have, when It turns out to be a 4 grand carbon road bike its just puzzling 🙂 )
spevFull Memberah it’s not a fair one is it, i’ll change my mind in half an hour, but
60’s Songs of Leonard Cohen
70’s Sabbath Bloody Sabbath – Black Sabbath
80’s Eat ‘Em and Smile – David Lee Roth
90’s Mr Funny Face – Sprung Monkey
2000’s – Angles – Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip
2010’s Teatime Dub Encounters – Underworld and Iggy Pop ( only because i’ve mostly been obsessed by it this last couple of weeks)
ask again next week and we’ll all give different albums I suspect.
spevFull MemberI’ve got a Mustang, very pleased (although It hasnt turned me into the rock god I thought it would have 🙂 )
bought it used off ebay, was torn between the mustang and the Blackstar Core:ID range, but the Mustang was too good a deal
spevFull MemberI had conti cyclocross 35s in my Kaffenback (frameset soon to be sold) with room for a mudguard
spevFull Memberfurther news, tested the wiring from all the sensor relevant (and some that probably werent) no problems so based on P0088 I replaced the common rail sensor and P0088 has gone (yay) only to be replaced by P0193 and P1210 (nooooo)
P0193 is Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor “A” Circuit High (P0088 was Fuel Rail System/Pressure too High)
so a similar but slightly different error , i’m running out of sensors to try, someone suggested fuel pump
P1210 could be a multitude of things, some say its the camshaft speed sensor, or maybe the MAP, ive tested both and they appear to be functioning (as much as a multimeter can tell you)
so I’m at a bit of a loss as to where to go next, i’ve still got the same problem in that (apart from limp mode) the bugger wont start unless I throw some EZ Start at it, once its running its fine (apart from limp mode)
spevFull MemberFuel pressure regulator/valve is the one on the bottom of the pump, swapped that no difference. The sensor on the common rail is , according to the Haynes Manual not changeable (despite it being a screw fit and the same engine in another vehicle says it can be changed), i’ve got my local motor factor trying to locate the part otherwise I have to change the rail 🙁
first things first, get the mutli-meter out and check the wiring loom, a long boring day of staring at wires beckons
spevFull Membersorry all, been mega busy fixing my flat roof.
Its a 2.0hdi yeah but EGR is blanked off
yeah Wiki, running lovely before it tripped, oddly even with the Anti Pollution errror flashing sometimes the van runs as if there is no problem (making me think its an intermittent wiring problem)
i’ll check all the hoses tomorrow when i’m going through the wiring
P0088 is the fault code – Fuel Rail System Pressure too High
just working my way around but loath to change any sensors until I’ve checked the wiring, hopefully have a bit of time at it tomorrow
cheers the replies though, gives me ideas for things to look for
spevFull Memberif it helps its the one at the top in this photo

spevFull MemberIn fairness I’ve always held out and told the insurer I want cash rather than use vouchers or a supplier and I’ve never had any problems once we got past the bit where I had to be firm but fair. My brother has not had to do this before(the lucky sod) so thought thats just how it was. I wanted some backup stories to give him so thanks for all the replies. My biggest gripe was the 3 options that wheelies offer that are underhand ways of getting you to deal with them (its even worse now that they are halfords owned). He’s spoken to the insurer and they will be calling him back tomorrow so all should be well.
Also the Complete CrossCheck offered isn’t comparable to the stolen one as It doesnt have STIs so they would have to have added the cost of that upgrade on anyway so the second option is useless
spevFull MemberI used to suffer with them but after quite a few diet changes, I found giving up bread (or breads with yeast)and chocolate has pretty much done the trick. I still get one now and again but nothing like as often as before (2 or 3 a week previously now less than 1 a month).
I also found I feel much less bloated after giving up the yeast so an extra bonus (and i’m 2 stone lighter but I think thats the chocolate)
spevFull MemberI’ve just ordered an Alpinestars one https://www.alpinestars.com/andres-tech-shirt
im after the more tech side of it otherwise i just bung on one of my other check shirts
I like the look of the troy lee one, whats the sizing like? I tried the alpinestars in a medium and snug is the only way to describe it (couldnt get the buttons together)
spevFull Memberthank you bigblackshed, no idea why I couldnt find that using the search function 🙂 and thank you all for the other choices.
lets be honest #hipsterbawbagcentral at my age is a compliment 🙂
anybody got a Royal Racing Cutter Hoody in a large they’d like to sell me? Otherwise off to Alpkit I go
spevFull Memberta both, just uninstalled and re-installed chrome and it seems to have fixed it this time (tried it once before with no luck) will keep my fingers crossed that its sorted
spevFull Memberi’m ordering mine next week so I’ll report back as soon as it goes on 🙂 (about 5 mins after it comes through the door)
spevFull MemberHopes Tech 35W is 35mm wide, not used them so dunno how strong they are.
I’ve got DT Swiss M1700 wheels with 30mm internal, se far so good, hammered them and no dents dings or problems so far, I think they are the XM481 rim (not 100% though as Its not written down anywhere).
Ive built a couple of pairs of Halo Vapour 35 (30mm internal) for a couple of people and been quite pleased with them.
Mavic EX729 are 29mm internal or EX630 (30mm external so prob 25/26mm). Mavics are my favorite from a wheel-builders perspective, the manufacture is so tightly controlled they practically build themselves, always very round (some rims arrive out of the box like eggs).
spevFull Membercheers rumbledethumps i’ll give that a go for 4 quid
edge 20 would be good but probably overkill 🙂
spevFull Membernicky wire anyone ? ****
who put Rob Halford up? nowt wrong with him 🙂
spevFull MemberI’ve just read the manual through again and it doesn’t mention whether you can adjust the frequency of data logging GPS date ( My Etrex Legend has this option) so more googling for me 🙂
spevFull MemberI can get Lezyne at a reasonable deal as well, just not as good as the Garmin at the moment (and the HR is a belt which I dislike). If I can increase the frequency of the logging then that’s fine. I use Strava for logging but am unconcerned about KOM’s and the like ( im happy being in the top half results at my age).
Thanks for all your comments I think I’ll give it a go and report back how it is.
spevFull MemberThe plus has a gps but seems geared to running, it’s got an “other” setting which seems to be for any sport other than running, will give it a go I think, just a shame it doesn’t have a “bike ” optionp
