Justa, yeah I probably do but having convinced the better half that "the cannondale will do everything honest" I need bolstering before I broach that subject again 🙂

ooo good question, I ride a bit of DH on Kilvey Hill and Clyne woods in Swansea, long distance stuff around the Gower and the Beacons, trail centres (living close to Afan and Brechfa ), so a bit of everything really, I place the most importance on the long stuff and the trail centres though (so just riding mostly)

This started as I hurt myself yesterday and I wonder if the FS conspired to kill me 🙂

It gets my goat too. I stop and wait for my mates if need be, but I always pull off the trail out of the way. Sunday, as we rode up the Whites Level climb a rider stopped in the middle of the trail on a steep section for a breather, turned to look at me then carried on panting without moving, drives me bloody mental it does.
Ah well I still enjoyed my ride though

If I hadn't recently bought a Prophet off here I'd have it, its a lovely looking frame.

just an aside to teamyeti and his reference to checking history, as your own royal family changed its name from Saxa-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor due to anti German sentiment (fuelled no doubt by people like teamyeti) during the First World War, I think you might just check before calling other people names. Also surely we can't still bear a grudge against a nation for something they have done in the past? If so then Im sure we wont have to look to far for a whole world of nations who could blame us for a lot of things 🙂

And finally , wooohooooo they are out they are out

    ahem no bias here m'lud

tidy, if i hate it i'll go back to 26"

I've got some hard springs for em so that shouldnt be a problem, dunno about the smooth thing, they seem to be similar to the new fox 831's construction wise.ah well maybe stick with the dj2's

i'm sure the mag ran an article comparing a Charge Duster Ti and Steel with identical spec and found little difference in the two with regards to ride. Will have to dig it out

I think its more a lack of confidence for me. Like I say I find spd's fine for everyday stuff, i've got flats on my DH and jump bikes. As soon as I try the v12's on the prophet it all goes to pot, I rode the black at whites without problem(jumping the little tables etc)then had a lack of confidence moment on the two drops at the end of windy point (the two slabs on the right side of the trail).
I'm wondering if its a saddle height problem, obviously the jump and DH bikes have the saddle out of the way but on XC rides I dont drop the saddle much (most of the singletrack has pedally bits in it)

Ah well , its either persevere or back to spds for me

    spev

I've found a similar problem,I have no problem doing drops on DH type trails but XC stuff freaks me out(I use the same bike for both) ie. the 2 drops towards the end of windy point on Whites are no problem on spd's but i'm useless using flats). No idea why this is happening but i've only been using flats for xc use since the new year.Maybe i'll just use spds for xc and flats for jumps/bmx and DH stuff

diamond back do these which are identical to the Nukeproof ones
or try the Outland ones like these

we've had both in the shop and they are very nice (and better than my V12's) you local shop should be able to sort em

A Pace gilet that i've had for so long I cant remember when I bought it (I can remember where though oddly enough) also got 2 sets of Hope C2's (for the tandem) a pair of M636 spds,Hope sport hubs now on some Mavic 517's
I've more old kit in the shed but that lot gets used

the Deep Purple version of Hush is also a cover, originally written in 67 by Joe South for Billy Joe Royal
but i'll agree with a few others here and say it's age based whether something appears more popular or not

Theres a few singletracky descents up there, as for the quad bikes they usually keep to the fireroads so should stay out of your way. The DH is'nt that bad if you take your time and it can be good fun.
We are discussing starting a club to manage the hill (at the request of the FC)

andy, nothing electrical has been PAT tested in our place since I started over 2 years ago (one of the many problems I could report) the heaters are the tip of the iceberg (literally)
apart from getting him to buy heaters my first priority is to get the **** out and do something else as it just depresses me going into work

    spev

Cheers TJ, i'm pushing for him to get heaters tommorow, cant afford to buy them myself (and why should I- If I gave you a list of the other problems the shop has from a safety perspective you'd be amazed)

Ah I wondered when the " theres people far worse off than you" post would appear. I choose to work indoors as its usually warmer, you choose to work outdoors where it usually is'nt, we make our choices just for me indoors is colder than out and the boss is shirking his duties, I hope your boss is more sympathetic ( what do you do out of interest?)
I've worked in these conditions since 2008 as the boss has promised that we will be moving to new premises.
I suppose I asked for it asking advice from the STW collective, generally helpful but one or two just cant resist flippant comments that do nothing to further the subject under discussion.

I'd love to MTFU but wearing full leg and body thermals two long sleeve shirts and a thick jumper over the top gloves and a hat tends to
a.look a bit odd to customers
    b.still doesnt keep me warm
c.and is entirely besides the point

as it stands i've already suffered chillblains on my toes and I now have the hands of a 90 year old
so forgive be for this but how about STFU 🙂

edit:- also I didnt realise the job market was so good for people to change jobs to follow the seasons

cheers Project, i understand what you meant about the heater( I did take my own oil filled radiator in but it didnt do much)
To be honest if a local inspector came they would shut the shop on the spot thus putting me out of a job so its a tricky area. I will push for a heater and some clothing tommorow and see what happens.
I wonder If I would be due compensation if the local enviro office shut us down?(I mean comp from the employer)
    cheers all

mmmm, I'm earning 12,500 a year, the other half is now unemployed so thats the only wage, I get 110 per month working tax credit (she cant claim anything at the moment for various complicated reasons) now we dont have kids but we manage to keep a mortgage on the go and 2 (small) cars (although one may go soon). We scrimp on luxuries but we both eat healthily. We don't drink or smoke though and eating out is a no no (but i'm too picky to let someone else cook for me :0) ) but we are happy and enjoying life so Its got to be possible on your wage surely?

Project, I'm not buying my own heater as I'm sure he can afford it (whilst I can not) given his recently announced desire to spend 3000 on some new equipment for the shop.
We have at various points mentioned it and its getting to the point where I'm about to snap. We are a small shop so we(the staff) are trying to keep it on a friendly basis but frankly our patience is running out.
I'm not in a union currently (cant afford the subs) but think I will bite the bullet and join again

also any of the cup and cone hubs should be ok to re-space with a larger axle for 135mm spacing if thats a problem as well

why not ask your lbs to build one for you ? Any shop that offers wheelbuilding should be able to sort it out for you

I had a frame only and it was pretty heavy (about 9lb frame only) so it's gonna be beefy regardless. Its basically a Kona (same front end) with a chainstay pivot, by all acounts they ride well (I sold mine before I built it). If you can stretch to one then the Mongoose Teocali on paulscycles is a good bet as well.

so If he removes me and gets in 2 part timers it will only be worthwhile if his contribution to the national insurance is lower for the two part timers? sorry if I seem a bit thick 🙂
my wage before tax is 12360 (38 hours a week) per year so I cant imagine it will work to his advantage but you never know

I agree with kojak, on the bars its very jumpy, although i've just found my old lumicycle zip tie mounts which would work as a mounting system for bars (as an alternative to the old light clamp I mentioned earlier) re-usable zip ties are cheap on ebay as well

my class 6 cards still have'nt arrived 🙁
As for mounting, i've fitted it to a helmet (not with the supplied helmet mount which is very wobbly) on the side using re-usable zip ties, i've not seen the footage yet as a mate has it (i'm ill so cant ride)

ask you local shop if they deal with Mackadams in cardiff, we fitted a cotter pin bb last week after getting one off them. I think they only deliver south wales and cardiff but worth a go.
    Mackadams Factors Ltd
    33a Lower Cathedral Road
    Cardiff, South Glamorgan CF11 6BY

    Phone : ?+44 29 2023 1816

cotter pin axles are a bit weird as they differ in length and the distance between the bearing surfaces, dont forget to order the cups seperately
