No need to apologise. If a nameless alcoholic dies and we make a joke (and people do) nobody bats an eyelid.

to be clear, Swansea City Council planning and legal departments made two huge obvious errors during the planning and land transfer stages allowing a high court to rule against it. I’m no conspiracy theorist but its valuable land that would/could be sold for a large sum to someone like the bloke that owns Trade Centre Wales to build a giant bond villain-esque carbuncle masquerading as a house opposite the existing skatepark so he can complain about the skatepark.

    Nope, still not angry

Or in the case of Swansea, make it so you cock up the process of granting permits etc to UPGRADE the EXISTING skatepark (thats generous, its a metal ramp thats been there for 20 years) allowing local rich bellends to get it stopped (our outdoor skatepark in waiting). Or,in the case of a local transferring his park from nearby Llanelli to a unit in Swansea (Fforestfach) had his change of use refused (still ongoing) on the spurious excuse that ” we want leisure facilities to be nearer the city centre” , fine if they can find a unit large enough and cheap enough.
Obviously if you have enough money in your back pocket you can stop skateparks or open a large store (currys, tesco etc) wherever the hell you want and get your rates discounted for a long period but don’t try a provide a needed facility whatever you do.
Im not angry about it no.

yeah I usually take them with a pinch of salt with but sometimes when its obviously fake and or calling my core belief into question It rankles a bit more. I responded with a request for more info but nothing.
Then one of my mates found this https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nick%20gurr
which goes some way to explaining the user name, ive reported it to google as a fake user/spam review so maybe they will do something about it.
As for the reviews in general we come out quite well , there are always going to be some negatives but I can deal. As I said I’ll happily be called miserable or surly all day long 🙂

There seems to be a global shortage, like turbo trainer panic buying, non of my distibutors have any, wheel on or off not even rollers. Although I think Halfords Ebay shop had some last week.

Oddly, whilst I was rereading stuff ( cos I got it wrong so was re-checking) I see both Fox and Rockshox say +/-5mm for their a to c measurements, so a 150mm pike could be anywhere between 556 and 566 based on nominal being 561mm, seems a bit imprecise that, they seem pretty accurate everywhere else.

    Pikes from Here

Dvo’s from their website but I misread the figures:) did say I was tired though😀

    spev

I know Cotic say its travel not A to C that you should stick to, but:=

    Pike @ 140mm axle to crown 541mm
DVO Diamond @ 140mm axle to crowm 552mm
    Pike @ 150mm axle to crown 551mm
DVO Diamond @ 140mm axle to crown 562mm

surely if the leverage of a pike at 150mm is enough to rip a head tube (I’m not convinced) then my DVO Diamond will do at at 140mm ? I’m not an engineer or bike designer and my maths is shonky at best so if i’m wrong please tell me (but dont be mean, its late and im tired)

He seems to have removed the IG page, it shows a lack of care of FB and IG part that they allow him to continue using their platform, surely its got back to them that he is using their platform to con people? If you use a cafe to deal in illegal products and services eventually the cafe removes you from the premises, surely the same would apply? Although expecting FB and IG to follow any moral path that is acceptable to the reasonable amongst the population is expecting too much maybe.

Still, lets keep checking on the shyster and forcing him further into his little corner.

My comment is still showing as of now, perhaps he’s sleeping the sleep of the untroubled. I don’t doubt he’ll delete it and block me tomorrow, I’m hoping he’ll report me for some kind of harassment or abuse.

I’ve just read that link up there regarding the current guidelines about closures etc, no problem with retail shops being shut but there is no mention of service type businesses, car service centres etc, I’d imagine they will be allowed to continue trading? Vehicle maintenance being key for the other essential services? Unless I’ve missed it somewhere, head is in the shed at the moment so it’s quite likely

I have a Cycle Workshop (virtually no retail) and service quite a lot of bikes used for commuting (far more than we do leisure bikes), we’ve been operating a distancing policy and are ramping it up (including keeping the door locked and allowing pre-booked only in), given the amount of people who use us to keep their commuting bike running should we still be open?
I’m fully prepared to close up for as long as required but I’m also mindful of not letting people down who need us, a large portion of the commuters are travelling to fulfilment centres (Amazon etc) and the local supermarkets to work (essential staff), and a suprising amount of doctors.
I’m properly torn between doing the right thing and doing the necessary thing. We were already planning on only having one of us at the workshop at a time anyway and just doing servicing and essential jobs but we are properly concerned with how we should proceed.

I’ve got a Raceface D30 shirt like this https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Body-Armor,54/Race-Face/Flank-Core-Guard,12384 , its basically a close fitting shirt with a slot at the back for a d30 pad and the same on the shoulders
you can buy this https://www.musto.com/en_GB/d3o-recoil-pad/80012_291-O%2FS.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw9tbzBRDVARIsAMBplx_FRRmmwPJPes0vteUMY5onkteLuqyxR9SC5DZvsDWvs7830qNZ2E8aAnd8EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&locale=en_GB&source=googleshopping from there or Ebay (you can cut it to size and shape)
and get a “pocket” sewn into a close fitting shirt like the raceface one so you can fit a bit where it needs to be? I’d imagine you have somewhere local that does clothes alterations (or do it yourself)

    EDIT
just to add, there are commercially available kidney protectors but they look a bit of overkill for MTB use, most look like there there for Martial Arts and being kicked

not about the adverts as such, I log in and go to the forum and no adverts and I remain logged in, If I log in and go straight to FGF then it logs me out. Doesn’t log me out if I go to the forum first then go back to the front page and then go to FGF, hope that makes sense 🙂

Scandal or Big Dog , ive just built a Scandal for my brother and , apart from being Aluminium its not a million miles from my Cotic Solaris Max in geometry and ride.

I’ve got a Solaris max, I’d say it’s as much fun as the bfe I had before it, it’s not as fast as my last fs but I’m certainly having loads of fun. I’ll be racing Welsh Gravity Enduro and the mash ups ( maybe the odd Dh race), strava would say I’m close if not sometimes faster on some of the Afan enduro stages(6 feet under and stage 4)

have a look through here https://www.instagram.com/in_pages/ scroll down the pages until you find a pic of a smug tattooed **** in a yellow Patagonia top, it would appear that the 27th Sep was Jordan’s birthday, bless him he looks happy enough given the amount of damage he and his **** friend’s have caused. I’ve had my refund (from Paypal not from those shysters) but I’m happy to get involved if anyone fancies spamming them for a response

Your LBS and get either the RSP one from Raleigh (sold in two parts) or the similar Gusset one, i’ve had both and happy with either.

do the wall from the bottom but turn off Graveyard down Six Feet under then down Resurrection (after exit from Six Feet under turn right along the fire road for about 100 yards, the sign is on your left) to the main path at the bottom then back to the car park. Much more fun that both Blade and ZigZags (Wall final descent).Although if you don’t like steeper trails then maybe Six Feet is not the best option.

yeah that Circe is lovely, I also saw a converted “conventional” tandem, longer rack and big bags type of thing, dunno if it would be strong enough to carry two child seats though, i’ll see if I can dig it up

Ah fair enough TiRed, I’m having a shit day ( humans are quite annoying) and its not your fault 🙂 (unless your one of the humans thats been in to annoy me today)
I have a mate who’s used Charlotte’s Tandems in the past. I have a Tandem of my own so it’s not something we’ve looked into other than on his behalf.
I think my brothers plan is to try a triplet at some point and see how that goes, as it is the cargo bike gets used daily and the twins love it (and my brother gets more exercise as he works from home)

    spev

I think your passive agresive statement speaks for itself. If you have children who are both able and like cycliung then yes maybe a tandem is the best solution. If that’s not the case then a cargo bike makes a lot of sense, I’ve not told you why my nieces are on the cargo bike at that age and you didn’t ask before telling me how wonderful your own children are at cycling in comparison. The OP also has no idea whether his children will enjoy cycling in the future.
Personally I think a cargo bike is a great idea (and a tandem later on) as it has a multitude of use’s.

TiRed “Admirable, but mine were pedalling the kiddyback tandem at 4yo and the eldest completed London to Oxford at 6yo”

Sorry TiRed I thought the OP wanted advice and experience about cargo bikes, but it’s obviously a oneupmanship exercise in who’s children can ride the furthest at the youngest age. Hey Ho whatever floats your boat I suppose.

I’ve seen somewhere a tandem converted to cargo use, might be worth a look as you’ll be able to convert it back and pull a trailer with it?

I’ve got a Mk1 Yuba Mundo and my brother has a current generation Mundo, both great to be honest. He’s been carrying his twins on it for 2 years (they are 8 now and still fit on it) he bought the monkey bars, deck, footboards and deck cushion, at the time it came to £1300 or so but it was called the Mundo Classic so I think was on offer (didnt have disc brakes). Its longer than the Kimbo though as its a proper longtail.
There are some cargo bikes on Ebay now and again so might be worth a look.

    Cheers all.
I only started racing DH and enduro in my forties (mostly Winter DH and Mini DH with the odd enduro if its somewhere interesting), not discgraced myself yet (4th overall for one winter series, not achieved that heady height since mind)

Cheers all, bought a tabA 2019 10.1″ in the end, does the job I wanted, other than that its difficult to buy anything else as apart from Currys no one has stores with stock (and currys has limited stock) and its the sort of thing i like to have a look at first 🙂

Yeah that’s what I thought about the Apple, I don’t have many apps that I use really anyway so that wouldn’t be a problem, but the price doesn’t seem justifiable really. I did consider the Huawei tabs but there aren’t many reviews of them. I’ll go look at the Tab A tomorrow and decide. Cheers for the feedback all. (woulda replied earlier but managed a ride where it wasn’t raining.

Still rideable , the lines into some have had to be modified after the road was upgraded. Personally I avoid it during weekdays. Rode it a fortnight ago without seeing many up there.
