legend, sorry you’re wrong, from personal experience (unfortunately) for my company/policy at least.

The policy shouldn’t just end, get the new car and transfer that onto the policy(additional premiums/fees will probably apply. The anniversary dates will stay the same.

Agree about the Autotrader thing, had to fax a number of adverts to the assessor as part of the argument to increase a pay out.

taka, sounds like the same car (106 Kid?) as my daughters. Paid just over £700 while she was learning which increased to £900+ once she passed her test through Autotrader insurance, the renewal last year was about double so switched to Swinton for just over £800 with 1Years NCD. Strangely both policies were with Sabre as the under writer (as were all the other quotes) Now I know girls get cheaper rates and all everyone’s circumstances are different but it may be just a case keeping on looking there may be something out there.

Adding parents (assuming fairly clean driving records) as named drivers should help as will reducing the anticipated mileage. And increasing the excess, but don’t agree with that, what’s the point of insurance if you still have to pay. Although at the car’s value any claim would be a write-off.

    Good luck

Let’s hope that the Woburn thing is settled amicably for all involved, both riders and locals. We as riders have to be sensible and considerate to the other users when on the trails. ie Don’t come blasting out from the undergrowth across one of the sand bridleways without looking and making sure is safe to do so.

As for Chicksands, if you don’t intend to ride their precious “bike park” or waste wood yard as it looks. And you get stopped ask them to call the police because you want to report them for demanding money with menaces. See what they do then. Otherwise ignore them and carry on your way.

Sounds like the battery has just about had it. How old? OEM’s will last between 5 and 7 years, replacements 3 to 5.

Had a similar thing with my Mondeo last winter and my wifes Astra last week. Interestingly for the Astrat an OEM from Vauxhall was the cheapest and a heavier duty unit than Halfords/Motorfactor/On line……….

Neither of the two Sig XC's I've had came with spacers. The fitting instructions only say a 2.5mm spacer is provided with the DH models (different flanged cups) and then only describes using it to adjust chain line.

When using with a 68mm shell there is only 1mm of exposed thread (with the XC gold cups) hardly a heap and not enough to thread a spacer on. Why? Never had a problem.

    Good BB by the way.

Which BB? The Raceface Signature can do both, either wined in one rotation for 73 or out one rotation for 68 form flush with the shell.

I wouldn't have thought it was logical to do on a small car. As stated, currently subsidised and the downsides with loss of space etc. Initial outlay will be in the region of £1500 to £2500 depending on the install needs and with the slight drop in mpg do the maths to see if it's economical. Usually aimed at high milers on big engined cars.

There's also an argument for a drop in re-sale vakue due to the caution needed when buying a car with the conversion already done. Keep all the paperwork and servicing up to date. Also check insurance.

Does it require a fresh download of the phone app?

Yes, either from the Ovi store or the new site. Done it the other day (again E71), no problems. There are extra features but not looked at them yet. You can import your current routes from the old Nokia site for the rest of the month.

This may have changed as it was nearly 20 years back. Changed jobs, both firms offered BUPA cover but it meant leaving the old scheme and joining a new one. My wife had had some diagnostics/treatment for peptic ulcers covered under the old scheme but they marked it as a pre-condition on the new one with cover excluded.

If it wasn’t being paid for I’d look around for other cover and check their precondition policies carefully.

Interesting, same experiences from others as previous years.
Just done an online quote, to compare (without the annoying fat man).
Renewal from AXA £265.68 (last year £251.28), online £262.19. Not the usual vast difference, as far as I can tell I've got them both the same ie Premier cover, same £50 excess and options (comparing last years policy to the quote).

Will double check everything, as per nbt, but is it worth wasting my time talking to them for three quid?

Have a 115 estate, don’t know about comparisons to the 130 Mondeo but it’s a tad slower than my previous 130 Passat and 2.0L petrol Mondeo (hatch), not that you remember after a while. Carries and vast amount of stuff, bikes, kit, family etc. Do 100 miles a day on the motorway and it keeps up fine.

You’ve mentioned the DMF and there’s the associated starter also the TDCi’s can suffer injector problems. The estates have a different rear suspension layout so don’t suffer the sub-frame bush issues as the hatch. Regular servicing and all should be fine (famous last words).

M1 between J13 and J10 is 50mph with contra flows, can come to a halt if there's the slightest disruption. May make a difference to your calculation. Saying that the A1 has similar at Hatfield.

First off my sympathies to the families affected.

It’s pretty strict already to obtain a shotgun certificate already. In summary you have to apply giving all the same details as a passport ie proof of ID and a counter signatory as well as all criminal convictions including motoring offenses. You also have to give permission for you GP to provide any relevant medical details. Background checks will also be made on anyone living at the premises over 18. Once they are satisfied with that you are visited/interviewed by the firearms officer, they will ask why you want the gun – you must have a legitimate reason – and explain safety elements. Finally your security arrangements will be checked prior to the certificate being issued.

So if they check out the applicant for medical and criminal issues as well as others with potential access, it is technically an offence for anyone else to know where the cabinet keys are kept. I’m not sure what else could be done. A “nutter” will always find a way to vent their frustration or whatever it is.

Last saw them a couple of years back at the London Motor show! Yes, not the same as the 70's or even the 80's comback but would still go if geven the chance. Fav band………….

The premium will go up, my daughters did last month. You are now able to drive unsupervised, greater risk.

Have both, roof carrier easier and quicker to secure bike, beware belly prints on door. Tow bar, no worries with height restrictions in car parks.

Well, I called the insurance company again and asked them if they take Pass Plus into account, unfortunately the don't but I guess others may do.

uphilla I feel your pain, see my post on pass plus. Daughter (just 18) passed her test yesterday and I've spoken the insurer this morning and the premium has risen from £700 to £1000. Now this is for a Pug 106 with a 954cc engine, barely moves but that's not taken into account. Broker advised something small, cheap and French???? There's only a couple of months left on the policy so in reality the monthly premium isn't too bad bare. Hopefully the one years NCD will help at renewal.

To set her policy up (as a provisional) we went through Autotrader as the broker and Saber as the actual underwriter, Saber where the only one coming up on searches no matter who the broker was. We put the policy in her name to start accruing NCD with both myself and my wife as named drivers on TPFT, car garaged, limited miles (4000) and included legal cover.

I'm ooking into at the pass plus scheme to possibly reduce the premium, advice so far is mixed.

See one almost every week checking passing cars near us. Trouble is the untaxed are also more likely to be unregistered as well so nowhere to send the fine.

not sure I know anyone who paid more after removing the L plates.

Well you do now, policy gone up from £700 to £1000, to dumbstruck to ask about the pass plus, will have to call back once I've regained my composure…………………….

Non that’s discernable. XTR on the 5-spot XT on the on-one, both just work as did the 595’s before.

    almost full service history

For a car with less than 50k miles isn't so good – missed one in four. Saying that the offer seems a tad low but as stated probably reasonable. However the "best" way to sell a car ie get rid of it, is to reduce the price.

The 107 is built buy a joint venture company in the Czech Republic with the others mentioned and has been tarred with the same Toyota brush, rightly or wrongly.

Thanks for the info. Codes appear to be different different although very similar times.

Price difference – BA £518 vs. VA £405, not quite 25% but enough. Same BA flight last year was £358.

AA do charge for drinks, flew with them to Chicago last year because BA would not do the onward connection times I wanted, home bound plane had to turn around because the engine light came on………………………………………..

Thanks. Flying LHR to San Fracisco, it's for work and have done it the last three years with BA but this time it's being suggested to use VA (nearly 25% cheaper ??). Not so bad as will get to ride Mt. Tam & Taramancho again.
