It’s what I have mine for as I live in the tweed valley all the climbs are fairly long and I will often only get 3-4 proper descents in during 3-4 hours riding. Two weekends ago I got around 12-13 proper long descents in just under 4 hours riding. The other thing I do is only put it in the level above eco on the Bosch motor if I really need to. It meant I was working very hard on ascents but still going quicker.

If I lived in low rolling country I personally don’t know if I’d get as much out of an e-bike as for me it’s about quickening the ascents so I can plummet more. But a lot will depend on the style of riding you do normally and the way you use the bike. If you want fitness try using the lowest power level you can get away with. They are so heavy you will most definitely get an adequate workout plus probably tackle climbs in a much more aggressive manner than you would otherwise.

Bought some terrano drys after reading that review for the Edinburgh Day in Hell yesterday and they seemed to cope with everything plus not be as draggy on tarmac. I usually run nanos which are excellent for more off-road adventures but probably more draggy without the less knobbly centre section. Tbf my mate did it on 32mm expanses and was also pretty much fine. Doubt they would have coped with proper mud but again if it’s only a small component of the ride it’s a trade off. Think I’m going to stick with the terrano drys for the summer now.

It’s awesome! Slightly unwieldy in tight turns but so planted it makes up for it everywhere else. Only criticism is the slightly slack seat tube that makes very steep climbs more challenging. But both ups and downs are grin-inducing 😁

@Renton, I’ve had my e-150 rs 2021 for 2 weeks and have ridden it all over the tweed valley. There is no wallowing or difficulty with the rear shock and the bike rides incredibly well. I’m 105kg inc gear so not far from you. It sounds like a fundamental problem with the shock. If anything the bike doesn’t seem as sensitive to suspension setup as my megatower. I’m riding the Whyte with 35% sag.

My warm up was on a trike this morning 😂 I was really hoping it would be the same in the race but sadly not! Wondered what their CdA was…

And I’m out again. Sorry lads been up with the wee man since the small hours and going to be wrecked by tonight particularly after deciding to do a fastest race instead at 6am 🤪

Same as @dangeourbrain I’m probably going to head out and enjoy the dry weather. Plan might change if I’m needed for childcare between 5-7pm. Cheers for organising it all Robbo regardless!

Yeah you can put spacers in the big negative chamber. That’s kind of the point to be able to tune the negative spring as well as positive.

Fair enough you would be close to the max. Did they say a custom tune might help?

I reckon a megneg might really help here. Would increase the mid-stroke support noticeably. They’re actually good pieces of kit.

The answer is yes but good luck finding the caliper parts kit currently! Can you nit unscrew the torx bolt at all? Partially drilling then using an easy out will probably work as long as you don’t damage the threads.

Only the first 4 riders count right?! I hit a PR coming up Box Hill mainly due to Phil’s incredible mentoring as I had no legs even by the bottom of the hill and was fully ready to quit! Managed a paltry 4wkg over the last rise which is worse than most of my PRL full attempts as I simply had nothing left to give.

Ok I’ve emailed them and messaged them so hopefully they can do something. Apologies again! Also we just lost more and more time on the descent once we split so you guys must have been gunning it!

Looking for morestw in the results and wondering if I’ve messed it up for you guys somehow? I changed my name in zwift in the afternoon believing it would automatically update zwiftpower but it clearly doesn’t so I raced as (morestw) according to zwiftpower. Is there any way this can be corrected? Sorry if I’ve messed it up

Thanks boys, that was seriously tough. Probably did a bit too much riding over the past few days as legs were empty from fairly early on. If only I had Phil with me more often :D

The empirical cycling guys explained the hr drift thing as demonstrating you are working hard. Can’t remember the exact physiological explanation but it’s a good sign!

Well done @nixie for finishing! I was having to use my hips almost from the start to drive as my quads simply weren’t available. Looks like hard racing particularly the second go after such high outputs first time round!

Turns out squats at 6am and bike racing in the evening don’t go together too well. 3wkg at the start was eliciting pain like I was in the last km of a tt 😂

I have a power meter on the road bike but what it’s often good for is telling me how my base condition is as some days I just can’t hit the same power numbers. There is a big difference between doing a workout well rested on annual leave and after a stressful day or being up overnight with a baby. If you are hitting consistent speeds the last session should feel almost unmanageable, I reckon, to know you have got the most out of hill reps. I’m othen guilty of doing the last slightly slower than the first too as I’m fresh and raring to go at the start, Not so much on the 3rd, 4th or 5th intervals 🤪

Riding outside is totally different to indoors and has a much more variable nature. It sounds like if you couldn’t complete the intervals that you want too hard initially? Personally I’d focus on doing the workout well and accept HR is very variable depending on lots of factors. After all you are training to ride faster not perfect your HR! Perceived exertion is probably the most useful metric I reckon.

Anybody here listened to the empiricalcycling.com podcasts? Have listened to quite a few now and think they really get to the fundamentals of training and what is actually effective. Well worth a listen although technical at times :D

The campaign is to re-increase to 60 to slow people down! There is no actual evidence behind this apart from anecdotal reports from people who supposedly live on the road. I’ve literally never heard of locals arguing for an increase in the speed limit before?!
