This image seems to show a Lush with the seat all the way down – why should your’s not be able to achieve that?

Is the seat tube actually butted 6″ down or is it just that the weld has deformed the tube so the post won’t go past?

I can’t believe any company would internally butt a seat tube especially at that height – I suspect you’re just getting duff information from the LBS to fob you off.

I still think there’s something wrong with your frame. From what I can see from trek’s website your frame has an uninterrupted seat tube with the top pivot welded to the side of it. The reason for having a full seat tube will be so it can be used as such and the fact that you can’t, as I read it, is that the weld has deformed the tube somewhat and it’s not been properly reamed following this.

Could you post a pic so we could see the situation as I feel either I’m missing something or these guys that are saying “that’s just how it is “are.

If the frame allows for 6 inches of seatpost in the frame with no issue, then I hardly think that it is defective. You’re just running into one of the compromises that need to be made in order to make a 14 inch full suspension frame with 5 inches of travel.

Joe this is a mountain bike not a road bike therefore the seat needs to be adjustable over a range of 4 to 5 inches to accommodate climbing and sensible descending. At best 6″ max insertion will give a 2″ drop and that’s not “fit for purpose”. Sounds like the seat tube didn’t get reamed after welding and it’d be a simple warranty job. Trek are pretty good on that front from what I hear.

Try these guys first see what they say – Trek UK – 01908 282626 (this number comes up on a previous thread on here – no idea if it actually works)

    Good luck

Surely this is a defective frame and should be replaced under warranty? IMHO by cutting the seatpost so that with the saddle at xc/road height there’s only 2″ of post inserted the shop have bodged it and it’s now unsafe to ride in that condition. God knows you see enough cracked frames at the top tube junction as it is without putting the extra stress into it. If it were me I’d get onto Trek UK today and ask them about it.

That’s gipping and in no way designed for actual off road riding

Am I the only one that was shouting “come on pedal girl!” down the first straight? Guess that’s what concentrating on training rather than racing will do for you. Must have been huge pressure mind but it’s not like she hasn’t already won gold.. Think BC’s talent team policy has a lot to answer for – treating BMX as a as a way of grooming sprinters for the track. Excuses at the end were poor, as my dad used to tell me “it’s the same for everyone”. Still well done for making the final, it’s more than I could ever have done.

Liam was unlucky, did well in the heats and had a chance of a medal – shame.

Was pretty impressed with the spectacle and I’m proud to have once been a BMX racer though I am a little disappointed by the Tarmac berms and clips even if the speed is impressive.

Loved the nike USA/brazil kit but thought the gb kit looked lame.

Starting a campaign for a new Kellogg’s series here. ;o)

I got diagnosed at 38 with some damage that was picked up in a visual field test – apparently I had a few blind spots that I didn’t know about as your brain fills in the holes. They assume it was caused by high pressure as I was measuring 18 when I should have been about 12ish and it was damaging the nerves.

Been on drops of one kind or another ever since and it’s not getting any worse – I get checked every 6 months or so and I also get free eye tests.

Hope yours is not – not that it’s life threatening or anything but it’s a PITA doing the drops every night. Oh and it’s £7 something a month fro the drops. Whoever make Lumigan must be coining it in.

I’ve only got 100mm on my Gravity dropper and don’t think I need any more. At that it goes from fully extended climbing mode down to directly between my knees with level pedals which is my DH saddle height. I’m only 5’8″ with 29″ inside legs though so not really representative. ;o)

I’m with tucker in that it seems to me (and I’ll own up to being white before I say this) Terry obviously meant to use the f***ing c*** as an insult to unsettle his opposition what difference does it make that he used the factually correct adjective “black” in between? I can understand it becoming racial if this line of insult is taken further or escalates but it seems to have been isolated and blown out of all proportion by the media for their own ends since. While I in no way condone racist behaviour, I personally think the meally mouthed excuse and defence that he was simply repeating the words implausible and do him and his club even more harm than if he’d simply admitted f**king up in the heat of the moment. I don’t think this incident and the subsequent handling of it has done anything but harm to race relations.

Then again I’m not effected by it in any way so what do I know? Can anyone shed any light on the wider context?

Here’s my Tracer 1+ fitted with a 34T Middleburn Uno and the top half of an E13 LG1+ – I’d fit the bottom half roller + bash but Intense didn’t design the damn thing with enough clearance to get one in there properly without messing up the chain-line/crank spacing. Bl00dy yanks – you’d not believe it was a 160mm frame

It gets ridden properly and yes sometimes the chain does jump off the bottom but put in a pedal stroke and that “problem” goes away. I will get a clutch mech at some point though as it’s a little distracting.

Don’t quite get the aesthetics thing either as I reckon bikes looks far better with the single ring up front – each to their own I suppose.

Hitching’s a great way to travel and as has been said, it’s really sad that everyone is so scared to either do it themselves or pick people up these days. Too many newspapers scaremongering and too many scary movies have made people paranoid of strangers and afraid to do anything.

Fairly sure I heard a statistic that the world is a much safer place today than it’s ever been.

I may be going at the end of August/beginning of September, although if the weather is likely to be that bad, I may go to Spain instead

I’ve been this week for the last 3 trips I’ve done to Morzine – it’s s great week weatherwize generally. I think I’ve had 3 days of rain in those 4 weeks but it’s the mountains so weather is unpredictable. Only thing to watch going that late is when the lifts close, I got it wrong last year and for the last week was confined to Pleney side and Les Gets – not the end of the world but I tend to prefer going on longer explorations over the SuperMoz side

My guess would be that the pads used to overlap the old rotor a fraction and that this isn’t the case with the new one. If you’re getting and ABS pulsing type feel it’s likely that the pads aren’t flat and there’s a lip where they wrapped around the old rotors fractionally and that this can be remedied by either chamfering the pads slightly at the edges or replacing the pads. I had this when changing form Shimano rotors to another brand and the pads were catching on the “spokes” of the rotor – chamfering completely eliminated it. I think some people are overthinking the issue. Gary

I’d 2nd the wheelpro book and DIY approach, it’ll cost you say £80 all in (including a cheap wheel jig and spoke key) and you’ll be well on your way to learning a whole new skill. A shop will just charge you £40-50 (at a guess) and you’ll have just some wheels.

This isn’t a troll but is that in a just thrown together state or do you run your seat at that angle as a matter of course Metalheart? I can’t for the life of me see how that’s comfortable unless you’re climbing very steep hills all the time.

Might be worth relaying this to Roger and the other liaison people as I strongly suspect that the Tysons will be as unimpressed with that as they are the riding. Imagine the claim if someone stepped on one …. kind of highlights the ridiculousness of the current situation.

Not sure if you’ll ever see this as it’s 10 months old but I’ve just done the same (well my son did but can’t blame him he’s only one). I don’t suppose by any chance you had a pair of brushed chrome 22-149,Transitions broke the left arm and and have an intact RH arm?

I know it’s a long shot but it’s worth a go and I’d be willing to pay for it.

Just spoke to a useless customer service operative who said they were being discontinued when I asked him hence the lack of Brashed Chrome out there. What happened to the awesome customer service you get with the sunnies?

    Cheers

Don’t use ProGold if you’ve got an E13 chain device of any type – it degrades the plastic and makes it brittle enough to crack easily.

I had pretty moist eyes at the end of that last show, grew up with M&L and though it was pretty repetitive that’s so much of what made them great.

Don’t understand how the BBC could drop the radio equivalent of Morcambe & Wise while keeping the halfwit bully that is Moles and the vacant, squaking ,harpy Sara Cox.

    Comedy gold indeed.

It’ll be close as there’s usually about an inch (25 and a bit mm) difference in TT lengths between sizes. It’ll probably be so close as you can’t notice but your weight will be further back and it’ll steer better.

So what happened? Couldn’t make it after getting back late from work. Was the feeling from the locals negative? I suspect that if you try and do anything anywhere you get a mostly negative reaction and the council will take that into account but I could be being overly positive there. I’d love a decent BMX track to take the nipper to when he gets to be old enough so fingers crossed for it. Thanks to all for their efforts so far.

The caldwell castle thing was an abomination but the guy just wanted to build something and use the tower. At least now the main structure has a chance to not get destroyed by the elements and that thing on the side won’t last too long. I really don’t get planners who can not pass the non intrusive classy looking options then pass that shite. The gun tower was worse, I can’t believe the actress managed to hold her tongue talking to that pompous cock from English heritage. I would have happily smacked him for the attitude he showed and I’m surprised the programme didn’t push the issue. The whole planning system is a crock in this country, where its ok to build 30 Wendy houses on an acre for profit but if you want to restore an ailing building you have to do it to some uninvolved and unelected person’s idea of what is currently acceptable spending fortunes on the way. Was quite a frustrating hour of telly that.

Swamps have never been a fashionable tyre and this was enforced by the fact the Sam Hill never used them – he’d always prefer a cut Wet Scream and therefore they get labelled as sh!t by all the cool kids and everyone is embarrassed to use them.

The fact that a 10 times World Champion quite rates them and they’re a great tyre in super dusty conditions seems to have passed everyone by.

Dirt quite liked them in their latest tyre test.

Actually a simpler question is is it the same as is needed on a Rockshox Revelation? I’ve got one of those. :-)
