Freight Worse Than Death? Slopestyle on a Train!

How TF does this effect the suspension? I get there may be some feedback from the chain flapping about being damped but the other “benefits” simply don’t stack up and smack of confirmation bias or emperor;s new clothes syndrome.
Can’t help thinking these’ll eventually go the way of the anti-vibration stickers or Leatt braces . . . .
SpeederFull MemberDoes this make sense if you’re close, or over the VAT threshold? Does the car not accrue VAT if sold once you are? Would either mean you have to effectively drop the price 20% or sell to a trader which I assume is effectively the same thing.*
* Cars may have different VAT rules in business – iinaa.

That or is was a cunning attempt to make the police line collapse.Laughing?
Shame they couldn’t see it as he was turned away from them.

They weren’t even in the same race
Might want to watch more of that last lap.
With out the two errors it might at best have at best been a sprint with Pidcock in second wheel
If Pidcock had closed down that gap and it went to a sprint, my money would’ve been on KoretzkyI don’t doubt that TP was nervous about the sprint and that’s why he went past in the more technical area. My “different race” comment was based on the pace that TP showed immediately after the pass – the speed differential in the woods after was incredible.
SpeederFull MemberSod the points, I’d be worried for the reputational damage it’s doing. Both, employing a very average driver and not having the balls to sack him. Redbull don’t need the point money and who would do worse? My guess is that it’s a Max thing and they don’t want to upset him with a quick no 2.
SpeederFull MemberSixCs on my Starling for the last 8 years (and they were 2nd hand when I got them) but I’m not going to comment further as I’m off to Morzine on Friday and don’t want to jinx anything.
SpeederFull MemberI’ve only seen the BBC’s 1 minute something highlights but VK can have no complaints about that, if it wasn’t happening there, it was happening before the finish as the speed differential was huge. They weren’t even in the same race.
SpeederFull Member@multi21 – I only watched the YT highlights – it wasn’t that clear cut in the best bits edit. I might watch again.
The Max meltdown made it the best race of the (last 5?) year/s for me.
SpeederFull Memberor willing by the sound of the team radio – I think he’s burned those bridges.
SpeederFull MemberI’ve only watched the highlights but I don’t get why McLaren would gift Piastri the win? He may have got the the first corner first but that doesn’t entitle him to anything if he’s not the faster driver over the race? A win’s a win but I’d rather my first F1 win on merit rather than team orders.
Watching the toddler have a melt down was hilarious. More of that this season please then a slow slide into obscurity.
SpeederFull MemberWatched the women’s last night then went to bed as it was late. Will watch the men tomorrow night when I’m bored in the hotel I’m in for work.
Thought the track looked bonkers and the riding incredible.
Anyone else thinking that Warner’s commentary might be just a bit much? Feels like he’s over compensating.
SpeederFull MemberThey do look a bit dated now, but at the time they were revolutionary and of such good quality that you almost never lost any money on them as inflation kept the 2nd hand prices about the same as the price paid. That and the fact that Isla actually kept and supplied spare parts, meant the things are lasting a hell of a long time.
Proper bikes for kids rather than gas tube Halfords specials or novelty themed bikes which were the only alternative when she started. Applause emoji.

I can’t believe in 2024 someone would launch an Enduro bike with that dropper arrangement and expect people to buy it. Is that a 100mm dropper?+1 – Bike looks great but was it designed in 2004? Shock’s in the wrong place for 2024 and 200mm+ droppers. Basic design FAIL. Shame.
That eBMX – WTF? It appears to be a BMX shaped eBSO. Ridiculous. No surprise it’s already discounted

But for a viewer, aside from the absence of RW on the mike, it is objectively better than the red bull era.
I like the track marker posts but that’s about it. The programme is inferior and the rate of change they’re trying to introduce is going to break the sport. Putting the coverage behind a paywall at the same time as increasing costs for everyone, doesn’t allow the audience building that is required for the teams to sell themselves as mobile bill boards and bring in money through sponsorship. Mountainbike racing has largely been run on an industry backed basis for many years and the industry simply cannot support “F1 on bikes” on it’s own.
Who are they expecting to pick up the mantle of creating these feeder series they talk of because sure as shit the UCI aren’t going to do it.
SpeederFull MemberOoh that Pro racer is nice. Interesting it’s got 401s. rather than the hutch crank.
Whatever happened to Hutch anyway? Was there ever a more aspirational brand in BMX?
SpeederFull MemberDoesn’t it depend on when the shutter opens though – that could be only a partial T-Bog . . . .
then it’s just bad timing, not bad style. :-)
SpeederFull MemberI had an orange thing that was the spit of a Schwinn Stingray back in the late 70s/early 80s. It appeared from nowhere under the Christmas tree as a combined birthday/Xmas pressie and I rode the wheels off it until I got my first BMX. I loved that bike and I’d happily have it back for old times sake. Ride it though? Not a hope. The saddle was uncomfortable enough in 1984 and I’m not sure it’d go high enough these days.
It was a lot like –
but was orange and had a smooth black seat, 3 piece cotter pin cranks, a shorter (white) gear lever and not quite so ape hanger bars. If anyone knows exactly what is was from that description I’d be very grateful for the info.
SpeederFull Memberi just ride assuming that everyone is going to **** up at some point and position myself/take liberties as required. Urban cycling definitely needs to be an active, rather than passive, pursuit.
I also ride with flashing lights both ends at all times of the day to make sure being seen isn’t an issue and make sure I eyeball everyone I can and make large hand signals where required. It doesn’t always work and occasionally things go wrong but I try not to hold it against anyone. We’re all human.
I did almost report a guy I passed this morning that was texting on his phone while the traffic in front moved away. There was a police car 4 cars behind and I very nearly stopped on my way past to alert him to the fact but life’s too short and who hasn’t fiddled with the satnav or radio in traffic?
SpeederFull MemberA great review. I’ve not ridden one of these but it reflects my experience of a Swoop over the last 8 years.
Great bikes. :good:

There are a few on here who don’t like Max but he has a lot to catch up with Schumacher
Well, yeah, of course. Schumacher remains the GOAT when it comes to dirty tactics. Never liked him. Always thought Verstappen was more like Senna*: dancing around the fine line of what’s acceptably robust and then sticking with it. (Though the difference in era meant that was manifested in different ways: when Senna came into F1, drivers were still being killed with some frequency; Max has had the luxury of hugely safer cars and circuits.)I don’t know whether I’ve changed as I’ve got older. I was a big fan of both Senna AND Schumacher but simply cannot accept the skullduggery employed by MV. I don’t know if it’s his father, that he abuses the shit that is DRS, that he was that fast from such a young age and I’m jealous or just that I can’t stand his smug face.
SpeederFull MemberIf you do decide to sell I could do with some internals to replace the ones in my son’s Pike RCs.
SpeederFull MemberDoing the same for work at the end of the month so watching this with interest. ;o)
1SpeederFull MemberBuckland can get ****ed. If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.
Where was his voice over the last 5 years?
The Reform vote is both worrying and probably indicative of the Brexit factor.
SpeederFull Memberjimster01
Just had a look on the tactical voting website, “Not Sure”, West Worcestershire is a tory stronghold. ****!!!Lived in Malvern for 1/2 my life and was always frustrated by this. Michael Spicer was a ****.
At least there’s a hope that it might change but I would have thought there was more chance of it turning orange than red????
SpeederFull MemberI think the Glasto come down was great – what I heard of it before work – let the guys have a lie in. I think they’ve all deserved it.
SpeederFull Memberossify
Well I don’t remember seeing you before, so… 🤷♂️

2SpeederFull MemberWho TF is shrinktofit? I’ve never seen this user before.
And Free Member moaning about cookies and throwing around the word “scam” – breaking rule 1.
5SpeederFull Member**** me people can moan. If you don’t like the site, other sites are available, foxtrot oscar.
Going to the ASA?! I have nothing but contempt for anyone who would do such a thing, this isn’t a big commercial website looking to rip you off, it’s a side hustle of a mountainbike magazine that is just about getting by and the adds are what keeps the lights on.
I’ve seen lots of posts about the site being “unusable because . . . . something”. Never do these people think, “there’s lots of other users who have no issues, maybe it’s me?”
I despair.
SpeederFull MemberHaving now read the advert, avoid. Too many things just don’t ring true and the price is daft for the mileage. It’s a <£500 car.
A real little old lady car will have <60k on it -they do exist.
2SpeederFull MemberDealer peace of mind is a bit of a fantasy imho – better off not spending the markup and keeping it as a contingency.

Those half assed screws locked him in his house? He’d be pulling at it from the other side. I’d be impressed if anyone could do that in the heat of the moment.
1SpeederFull Memberstevedoc
Those Bold look great money but not a lot of info on themthere’s a user review on this very forum – it’s one of the NBD posts – have a search. I think the guy quite likes it.
1SpeederFull MemberYou know you don’t have to be catching air to have a massive OTB to smashed face right? You can do so much riding in a day that the relative exposure is huge and it gets tiring over a few days so mistakes happen easier. There may be some danger compensation that means that they’re actually better off with a regular lid but you only get one head.
SpeederFull Memberspeeder if you want the orange one it’s £0
I couldn’t get it to bond well on the shaft so I’ve bought a couple of standard ones. Let me know and I’ll post it.
Thanks for the offer Steve but it would just be weird with my colour scheme. I’m sure someone will take it.
2SpeederFull Member@Trail_rat I’m with @funkmasterp on this.
They are shit, fragile, tiny and a PITA to get enough air in to when compare to Schrader. They are worse in every way yet have somehow become the go to standard.
If narrowness to fit in tiny rims and a long stem length are your requirements then fine they’re absolutely perfect but for mountain bikes, especially those running tubeless, they are shit. I also don’t understand how we’ve not evolved towards bigger valves holes in rims and Schraeder valves. Are they perceived to be too heavy? Is there no way to patent them? Even the new expensive solutions are using the daft tiny valve hole – why are we persevering with this ridiculous standard when we’ve 3 handlebar sizes and however many wheel size and hub standards?
I don’t get why you’re defending them @Trail_rat ?
SpeederFull MemberI would have started with the 90 degree wash as the heat works wonders for loosening stuff but sounds like you’ve got there in the end.
And +1 for the soda crystals – i combine it with the white vinegar in the drum when I’m cleaning ours. Do it when it obviously starts to smell a bit.
