There should be a Paper aeroplane icon in the top left of the window normally. Maybe open a new message window just in case

Sounds a bit sketch. Is the scaffolding platform large enough to accommodate the mobile scaffold tower with outriggers too? Assuming it’s a Boss style tower, I’d want the wheels removed and replaced with the flat feet which sit on clamped scaffold boards not loose laid ones. Tower needs outriggers or the tower needs to be fixed to the masonry with an eyebolt and clamp, guardrails at the correct height of 950mm above the working platform along with intermediate rail and toe boards need to be included too. And obviously a valid Scafftag signed by a competent person (PASMA ticketed)

Don’t sign the RAMS documentation if you’re not happy with it, assuming it has actually been written properly. Another approach might be worth having a quiet word with the hospital H&S manager too and asking them to raise a concern regarding the works.

You def aren’t being a knob. I spent 15 years on site as a spark and have done some silly things and seen people do some really stupid things. It’s honestly not worth it for your day rate.

Sorry to hear that Cheesybeanz, that’s awful news. Certainly puts my moans & groans into perspective. Take care! 👍🏼

I like them, they are tough & hardwearing for riding and general wear. Don’t look too shabby either.

I love my Arc’teryx kit, fits me well but it is pricey. I wear it my Gamma LT softshell as my daily jacket since 2014 and I’ve an Easyrider jacket from 2002 ish and it is still going. There will be issues like glued hems peeling back etc but you can generally claim that on their warranty. Definitely better than Rab so worth seeing if you can justify the price.

Just saw you want to keep the wheel, best ignore my advice ;)

A slightly more drastic version of 5lab’s method is to grab the wheel with both hands opposite the pringled section and ‘slap it’ against the ground with the pringled section facing towards the ground. Hopefully you might be able to straighten the Pringle a bit to get you moving. Good luck!

Definitely agree with most of the points raised above. You need to be consistently hitting 2p sized target before trying to hit a rat or other vermin. Extra strong mints are great for practice too! Again practice, practice, practice and watch your backstop. Any stray pellets into your neighbours garden may get you in trouble

You’ll want to make sure your scope is zero’ed for the distance you’re shooting at and for your pellet of choice too. Flat heads like Hobbies are perfectly fine as are your domed pellets.

Bait wise, I used peanut butter mixed with some chocolate spread and veggie oil. Works well.

Have you also considered using a Goodnature trap?

An engineer’s jacket. Used to work for McVities and all the engineering technicians on the production line wore them. Plus you could fit a few cheeky Digestives in the pockets too ;)

I did it on a Mk 1 Fabia, the biggest faff was having to drill out the rivets to remove the panel then order specific rivets to remount. I only changed the steel cable and plastic accessories. If I was to do it again, I’d just get the complete panel to make it easier.

I’d say keep it simple for your first time. The rucksack will be fine, no need to bring the kitchen sink, just the bare essentials, some warmer clothes, some food, drink, A tarp, A mat & sleeping bag and spares for the bike incase you have a mechanical. You could probably bungy cord stuffsacks to the handle bars and/or seatpost, that’ll lighten the load on your back a bit. Oh and use a buff or Beanie over your eyes unless you want to wake up at dawn! Have fun!

And regarding the cops, seniority is normally proportional to the size of hat ;) if they do try to extract a bribe out of you, play dumb, show them your library card or gym membership card or something. As Nicko74 says, they normally get bored after a while.

USD is great, alternatively you won’t have too many problems finding a local trader to exchange their so’m. Make sure you know the rate when you arrive so you don’t get ripped off excessively and be willing to do the ‘walkaway’ if their rate is crap.

Definitely clean/heat them every so often! I used to commute down a mixture of muddy canal paths and roads during the winter. One wet evening, I came down a 30 mph hill and almost into the back of a car when my BB7’s with Clarke’s sintered pads decided they weren’t going to work very well. Normally they work fine, but less so when covered in mud, grit and other crap, so had to use my feet instead, Flintstone style. Definitely needed new undies after that.

I crossed from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan back in 2013 in my car, border staff they were slow and luckily managed to make it through just before they closed for the day having waited since the afternoon time. There were signs back then saying they didn’t take bribes, but clearly the Chinese trucker didn’t see that one as he hid some notes in his passport to speed up the process and was told to go do one.

Got stopped by a traffic cop for turning left on a green light, he was adamant it was red. He opened his notepad suggesting I put a little donation in the back and he suddenly forgot about it. We were also stopped by traffic cops who were just curious about the car and wanted to talk about the Premier League then gave us a huge watermelon. The watermelons are massive there. Do try the beshbarmak (five fingers) too, it’s the national dish of noodles and meat.

My friend is the manager at Apple Hostel in Bishkek, ask for Aigul, she’s super helpful. Apple Hostel is well reviewed on Facebook and Tripadvisor etc

I actually met on her on a bus from Karakol to Cholpon Ata back in 2013, and she invited me to stay with her family for a few days in Bosteri, near Cholpon Ata. Really warm and welcoming family.
Another hostel which is good is Sakura’s https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sakura+Guesthouse/@42.8922519,74.5863839,13.24z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x2742813e5e1f1352!8m2!3d42.8863172!4d74.6139642

Run by a Japanese guy and his Kyrgyz wife, it’s clean, cheap and only a short walk to Jibek Jolu.

Share a taxi or take a marshrutki bus go to Cholpon Ata or Karakol. As egb81 mentions, Karakol Coffee is good.

    Have a great time!

Can you unplug the hob and just use a match or handheld piezo igniter thingy?

I found this article which was mentioned on a Guardian page. Definitely seems like you don’t want to upset the Kremlin, all rather worrying really.

I enjoyed watching his video updates whilst on the road, lots of funny stories. He was an amazingly strong rider, mentally and physically. Gawd knows how he managed to dig so deep and keep on going on his challenges. Sadly a very tragic end. RIP

if the brand new fan is showing the same problems as the old one, i reckon it’s the fcu. Wiring up the fan directly to the supply side (obviously turn the power off first) will confirm that.

Are the switch contacts in the fused connection unit a bit duff? I’ve seen switches which are knackered and momentarily make contact when you turn them into the on position but keep the contacts closed. Easiest way to check is temporarily wire the fan onto the supply side of the FCU bypassing the switch. good luck!

Definitely try contacting your local authority tomorrow morning. Take some photos too. Our Council will send an traffic enforcement officer over on a bike to ticket vehicles parked across dropped curbs if you complain. Good luck!

I wouldn’t pay 20K up front, perhaps your friend can come to an agreement to trickle feed payments based on work done. If the builder doesn’t have money to break ground, i’d be concerned.

I say that having worked for a builder doing basements in London who took good sized deposits to get the job started. In reality he was covering his jobs where he was running over and making a loss, trying to finish them. In the end, robbing Peter to pay Paul caught up with him and he put the company into administration, but not before starting up a new company in a similar name. All the new customers who had paid deposits, unsurprisingly didn’t get anything back.

I love my B17, got about a thousands miles on it after buying it maybe 4/5th hand on eBay. Took a bit to get my bum used to it but now it’s grand.

I’m also thinking about getting a Cambium, maybe the carved, but worried it won’t be as comfy as the B17. In case you’re close to London, I believe you can rent a Brooks to try for £30 if that helps at the Brooks store http://www.b1866.com

I used a bad infestation in our house, upstairs and downstairs. The usual spring traps with peanut butter/nutella weren’t much good.

What did work was Pest Control Bait https://goo.gl/oW7Svk and glue boards https://goo.gl/DEMxxA

The Bait was worked pretty well, although mice were pretty shy in kitchen, but possibly because they had other food sources. Glue traps worked well, especially in areas they would go around the bait trays instead.

Inhumane for sure, but i was at the end of the my tether. Good luck!

For anyone looking, my recommendation would be the Black Diamond Spot, £20, small, powerful and light

    https://www.decathlon.co.uk/spot-headlamp-aluminium-id_8361255.html

Can lock down power button, dimmable in both modes, runs well on AAA well on Eneloops and even better on Energizer lithiums

Musson’s guide is great. Double check your ERD yourself, don’t trust the rim label, along with your hub flange dimensions too. Use tip, cocktail sticks are great for inserting nipples through the rim. For spoke lenghts, i take an average of the online calculators.
