Hello again, glad you’re pleased to see her 😀

You will wake to the cutest dog farts. Make sure you get her ‘chipped ASAP’ lots of naughty people about.
Is your dog called ‘Thrust’ or ‘Moon’ (Google translate)
    POSTED 1 DAY AGO #

She’s chipped already, the breeder sorted that.

She was named with the word for moon in mind. (I’m pretty sure the Kanji is correct… Been brushing up on my Japanese ) Pronunciation is probably less accurate though. But she’s Tsuki it sounds nice and suits her too I think.

I would say not to walk it too far as a pup though. I always advice the 5 minute rule for walking. which is 5 minutes for every month they have lived.

Yes I mindful not to over walk her, but then after short walks she wants to run laps of the garden/house so what’s the difference whether she’s on the lead with me or running about the place?
The longer walks I have had my daughter and pushchair so she gets a ride if she feels like it.

Here’s another pic, taken just now.

Thanks for all your comments. I wasn’t going to bother returning to this thread due to a general negative feel from some comments but I’ll just wrap it up now.
Tsuki has settled in really well and everything has so far fallen into place perfectly.
She usually has one full day a week alone but there are no signs what so ever she is at all bothered by that. During the day when we are with her she will tend to enjoy her own space either curling up in bed or on the rug, very cat like in that way.
From day one she has slept right through every night and have not heard a peep from her until I get up and go down.
She wasn’t house trained when we got her but within days of being allowed outside she naturally got the hang of it so that has been a breeze.
Walking on the lead really well too and will go for miles already. Absolutely reaping the rewards right now!

Five29/ Segment Swingarm on a Five Front end.

Maybe modded as i’m pretty sure 650+ doesn’t quite go in a Segment.

So which one of you gave up work so it wouldn’t be left at home on it’s own? Must be nice up there.

That’s not a dog, it’s obviously a fox cub! Yeah that happens a lot.

Is that a Shiba Inu puppy?
    You got it.

Suede approves and says hi to Tsuki.

Ah , nice camo . Hi Suede.

    OK well it happened!
Picked her up on the 19th of December. She’ll be 13 weeks as of tomorrow and settled in perfectly.
Here she is when we first got her.

Setting up to keep your weight off the front end will have more of an effect IMO

I run low rise DH bars on my rigid. A high front end with plenty of spacers make for a surprisingly comfy ride. A large back sweep like On One OG’s make it even more so.
ESI grips help too as does a + tyre.

    Osprey Poco.
It costs a bit more than many others but go a compare them side by side, the extra £ is easily justifiable, such a well made and excellently designed carrier.

Maybe look at a 2nd hand one they are tough as old boots so I’d imagine you’d find one in near perfect condition.

    I have a friend involved here. http://www.heartwoodproject.co.uk/
    They produce charcoal.
Maybe there is something similar in your area?

Had the same with my Z1c.
Using it one minute then gently chucked it onto the sofa, when I picked it up screen was unresponsive and I discovered a hairline crack in the digitiser panel.

No insurance and only £30 for a new assembly, takes 10mins to repair yourself, so couldn’t be arsed with arguing the toss.

Snap. Spent my lunch break looking for the same. Glad you tried the eBay ones before I wasted my £ 😆

I’ll have another go tomorrow and post some links.

Whilst it’s true that an AC compressor is an expensive item should it break, my car doesn’t need an oil change every 5,000 miles, valve clearances resetting, fuel mixture setting, points, etc, etc.

Yes but that is all simple driveway servicing your everyday owner could do It’s not non serviceable items failing requiring expensive expensive replacements.
The modern car has killed the home mechanic.

Always Hope, whenever I build a bike hope brakes are the only constant. probably first and foremost of all components.

I’ve not tried the new M8000 series Shimano but I’ve heard the big S may have addressed the horrible feeling which has plagued their previous brakes, doubt the spares issue will be sorted though.

The phrase ” they don’t make them like they used too” has never been so apt today.

You’re right – modern cars are so much better. [/quote]

    Incorrect.

There’s no reason why they can’t be though.
As is the modern way things don’t last because they are designed not to. There’s no money to be made if things last forever.
    Planned obsolescence.

I see this has gone away from the OP, and become just a list of old cars that have done well. The question is, is there a car you buy today, brand new that will be around in 10-15 years and be considered reliable. The answer…….none. The phrase ” they don’t make them like they used too” has never been so apt today.

    This.

You see a lot of manufacturers nowadays touting 10/15year anti corrosion warranties etc, the reason being they’ll never be claimed on due to them being on the scrap heap by then anyway worthless because of expensive electronics, engine, gearbox faults.

Thanks for you posts everyone. You’ve generally reinforced my stance on the matter, being that as obvious it’s not fair leaving the dog locked up in solitude for long periods.
This has really been the only reason we’ve not got a dog from the moment we moved in together 8 years back.

I appreciate all the recommendations they are all good options.

I do however think my Gf’s suggestions could work out and as such I’ve been in contact with a number of kennel club registered breeders of and will be having a chat with one or two later in the week.

When you said a puppy had been “requested” rather than being discussed I presumed you were referring to a child. As you were. (-:

Err yes of course hmm .
    Thanks for your insight 😉

Sorry for asking the obvious but, your kid does realise that puppies turn into doggies, yes? I don’t mean to be rude but that statement rings alarm bells to me.

    It would to me to.

But if you re-read you should see its my GF who has wanted a dog/puppy for ages it’s just now the littlun has joined in.
I’m pretty sure my GF understands the stages of growth.

Yep looks like the Spitz’ group are right for us, spent a few hours researching Shiba Inu’s last night but the Buhund seems good to infact in some ways a better choice. Thanks for that.

Now, apparently Grandad who was a breeder with show dogs back in his day would be happy to come round and see to it whilst we are out.

Hmm yes working really is a pain maybe it could come with me? Shop could do with a dog trouble is I’d have to stop riding in Or… what 29+ specific puppy carrier ?

Lovely she is, Sandwich and yes enjoying the pub is a definite requirement.

2 days out of 7 it’ll be left for 6 hours+. 2 days your mum will “check” on it.
No way is that OK. You need to re-think.

    Yep, my thoughts.

    What is ok?

I’d love to do the rescue thing but it’s a puppy that’s being requested of course.

During the working week only Tues and Weds would be days where it’d not see anyone but then it’d be from 9 – 15:30.
Monday I’m home, Thurs,Fri My Mom’s on nursery duty so could check in. I have however always been of the opinion that it is not right to leave one locked up. Although my Gf’s parents had no issues with their Lab in the house without issue.

Yep. My Brother has a Staffy, great around people young and old, clean, quiet, absolute nutcase when it encounters another dog.

I have a large lean-to building which used to be my fish house I could adapt this with dog flap to garden.

Yes, I am aware of the state of the classfied sites. We have kept various other livestock and wary of unscrupulous breeders.

I really just want experiences of various (traditional) breeds or to help me avoid giving in. I’ve been saying no for about 8 years.

Yes I had read that that they were diggers and of course need a huge amount of exercise which I’d be ok with as any excuse to go for a wander suits me, I had already ruled them out after research. they just cropped up in the local classifieds amongst the masses cockerdoodles etc.

The STW review is just an extension of his 2014 review on a bikepacking build set up on regular tyres. That review was more detailed and the STW update is based on the 29+ build and simply suggests (previous negative thoughts clear in mind) it doesn’t offer huge improvements.

Being a rigid bike I’d say setup/Spec can make or break it.
At the end of the day ” it’s just, like his opinion maan “

I prefer my review anyway and that’s all that matters.

Nice to know my old 1971 VW Fastback is still going. Was my first car.
This comment made me chuckle ‘Non standard tyre sizes fitted due to suspension being very low’.
Good to hear its still being run in the same spirit!

    Cool.

Mine never got any comments like that, even though it doesn’t actually have any suspension travel at all 😆

Absolutely brilliant place and all but the blacks should be rideable on pretty much anything.
    [whops it out.]
I rode two days on a fully rigid, second day with a cracked rib.
    [zip ]

You’ll be fine as said plenty of rocks (hence cracked rib) take plenty of spare tubes or inflator if tubeless, pinch flats galore.

    And from the same film….

The scene needs a bit of background. Earlier in the film Bob (the sheriff) threatens Billy explaining that his shotgun is loaded with dimes “enough to spread you out like a crazy woman’s quilt” to be exact.

Spectabilis – thanks for the heads up. Just looked at the Calendar and I may be free that weekend. Not too far for me to travel either. Cardinham trails about 30mins drive from Padstow….I’ll chase you up if it works out.

Unfortunately a change of plans means I can’t take it with us now, sorry for any inconvenience.
Hope you get the chance to try one soon.
