And so to add some useful input to the thread I’ll add a recommendation for something from Olympus, maybe PEN or the OMD range – tough little weather proofed (some models) cameras.

The camera is so, so good. Only issue is it doesn’t shoot in RAW which is only an issue if you’re into heavy editing IMO.

Yes, you can, if you use the Halide app, but you can only use the wide and telephoto lenses, not the extra-wide.

Strange, all lenses are available with Halide on mine.

Edit: just checked, right you are. It changes the setting when you switch to 0.5 , never noticed that before !

The Cujo is a great little bike as mentioned above, my daughter had the 20” It really inspired her confidence. She recently turned 8 and had grown out of it and although the 24” seemed like the logical progression the colour was not within spec. She now has an Orbea MX24 (team disc) it’s a wonderful bike equally as well made as the Cujo but with a slightly higher spec- hydro brakes, Deore GS 10speed shadow+.

It was a little long in the reach but I’ve got into the habit of fitting backswept bars on her bikes, she likes the more relaxed riding position. She’s got a trimmed down On-One Geoff bar on this one.

Has anyone been to the Pigs nose inn – East Prawle ?

That’s pretty close to what my entry in this thread would be.
A good mix of local ales and ciders straight from cask, food just simple honest pub fayre.
Quirky old pub full of interesting and amusing nicknacks, there’s log fires, a snug, a knitting corner, shoe corner, aniseed balls and snuff on offer.

You’ve got a dart board and a pool table in the side room. Out back, the weird toilet area where you’ll also find the communal shower room.

The owner, being a record producer has created a live music venue in the linked parish hall (you could spend your time in the main pub without knowing it existed )
It’s been a while since I was there and checking their website just now I was surprised to see Atomic Kitten n the list of acts that had played there! But don’t let that put you off .

It’s ages since I looked at any of this style of bike, but my memory is they have tiny changes from commonly used geometry…

I’ve only used the phono stage pre-amps, I had a little bear; it seemed ok, did have a bit of a buzzing sound but that was from the supplied AC adaptor so easily sorted. It turns out it wasn’t a true tube amp, more of a hybrid OP-amp so I replaced it with a Graham Slee stage which performed better and the little bear has sat boxed in the garage ever since.

I did do a bit of research into the power amp options and found Yaqin seem quite well respected products for the price, didn’t quite pull the trigger on one though. That’s not much help I know, other than beware of chip based amps masquerading as tube, some usually hide the IC on the underside of the PCB so all looks good when taking at first glance to the unknowing.

Great cameras ! I’ve experience of some similar models, had an EM5 Mk2 and now have the EM1 Mk2 and a bunch of Pro lenses.
As said fantastic stabilisation and some great in camera features such as the various stacking modes.
I love the Livecomp mode for really simple startrails.
(Not sure if all those features appear on the 10…

The lenses are really nice too especially the Pro’s which are built like tanks as well, makes for a really tough system.
You haven’t mentioned what you will be taking pictures of so can’t really comment on best lens options.
I have the Pro 7-14 ,12-40 and 40-150 with the latter spending most time in the body – superb bit of kit, super sharp with instantaneous AF.
The 2.8mm macro is great fun too, also works well out of macro mode as a portrait lens.

Note: if you are to invest in any Pro lenses prices are going up from the 1st Feb.

If you are going for Hikvision make sure you get the proper Hikvision rather than their budget HiLook range, you won’t see the Pro Hik listed for sale to general public so ask for a quote, use an authorised seller to obtain full warranty and UK support. Opt for the newer larger sensor G1/G2 Darkfighter or even “ColorVu” camera options for better nighttime performance.

For more accurate event notifications enable the Smart event rather than motion detection, here you can set up digital tripwires and intrusion zones, you could also add facial detection.

Look at the Acusense range for the most accurate detection modes.

We currently have a lovely Shiba Inu. I’ve always admired the closely related Kai Ken; if we get ourselves a property with a bit more space I’ll likely have one.

We have a VW T3 camper with a rigid pop top, making it 4 berth.
It does the job pretty well but the issues come when you want to hop from site to site or leave the camp for an outing.
The amount of kit we have shoehorned into it makes for an annoying game of tetris when you need to put it back into van mode ! With a 2nd child on the way the plan looks to be to sell it and go back to tenting – which we don’t really fancy (this van is so comfy and warm- can’t remember being cold in it even at Christmas)

Or the other, more popular option – building a new camper based on an L2H2 Peugeot Boxer or similar with fixed bed with a garage underneath- hopefully it won’t too much of a pig driving around town.

    Yes!

And you got some Junker bars, how did you manage that?

Andy had a handful back in April, he posted on FB that there were a couple of spare 70’s up for sale so I grabbed them.

I bought a couple pairs of Trickers the other day, the Bourtons are too big and I prefer the Durhams. The Bourtons can be returned but I got them at a decent price and am happy to sell on if interested. Uk Size 10, come up big suit a regular 9/9.5

White sole probably not suitable though.

    jbl mini monitors or similar?

Car speakers are different ohms to home hifi ones.

JBL Mini monitors are actives so the impedance is irrelevant.

Gotta give a shout to Middle Ninfa, just out of Abergavenny.
Not too close to a pub but a great back to basics site.

No cars allowed on site, wheelbarrows are provided for getting your kit up the steep campsite to the various set campgrounds (carpark in field at entrance)
Each pitch has rocks for building your fire pit. A friendly horse freely roams the site. Amazing views.

    Showers are solar, compost shitter.

Yes any decent system would have alarm triggers,
I also thought about putting the Peter Kay clip on one of these https://www.voiceoff.com/ 😁

Motion detection, as mentioned above is a very basic feature of a modern cctv relying on any change in pixels, can be triggered by anything as simple changes in light.
I recommended the Hik system, these are a lot more advanced with smart features such as line crossing and intrusion detection which can be fine tuned by marking multiple, specific zones with adjustments for sensitivity and max, min size of object required to trigger to quite effectively reduce the amount of false alerts.
There are also object removal, left baggage, face detection, etc modes but maybe more suited to a public environment rather than domestic.

I’ve successfully managed to filter out atleast 90% of cat alarms on mine and clocking the postie, DPD guy without fail.

Last thing you want if the system is to provide comfort for your wife is a system crying wolf all the time.

Hikvision IP systems are the way to go. If you call a decent installer it’s what they’ll be wanting to install.
Opt for the the proper trade level, Pro range rather than the Hilook – Hiwatch consumer grade, sub-brand stuff.

IP, so easy to install either running cat5 or distributed via switches, WiFi bridges etc.
Plenty of camera models and 4K options at a fair price too.

Remote viewing, playback via app, PC etc and highly configurable event alarm notifications etc.

After arriving at Lands End and quickly leaving, head to Porthcurno and visit the telegraph museum by the beach, take a walk over Pedn Vounder cove to Logan Rock grab a beer at the Logan Rock Inn then maybe take in a play at the open air cliffside Minack theatre on the evening. Also check out Sennen Cove before moving on.

I have a Rega p3, the “new model” linked above – released in 2016 IIRC

My sources are Flac/Wav or Vinyl, some of my digital releases sound better than the vinyl then also some of my vinyl sounds better than some digital.
I listen to a lot of vintage reggae and it just sounds so right on vinyl. The latest Aphex album sounds fantastic on vinyl too but I think the digital does have the edge.

Setup is P3/Ortofon Blue > Graham Slee Gram Amp 2SE > Cyrus 8 > Tannoy Revolution XT

Originally I had a cheap Little Bear phono stage but the Slee brought a fair bit more out of the TT.
