Ok now that’s all cleared up….
What bars are you fellow Stoogilists running or have tried out?

I used On-One OG’s from the start and felt they really suited the bike, very comfortable and they handled way better than expected due to the old mandlebar shape of them. Almost perfect except for in certain situations elbows felt a little tucked in and felt unnatural when “power wheelieing ” out of a corner for instance.

I’ve now fitted a set of more conventional wide mtb bars 780 trimmed to 740 initial feeling is good, putting me in the attack position but noticed the lack of comfort offered by the OG’s immediately but that’ll prob just need a bit of getting used to….
Was hoping to get out for a better ride today but it seems my riding buddy is being a fair weather pussy and I’ve got a bit of a hangover still so maybe later.
Aaanyway regardless of performance I’m liking the look of these,

    proppa sick n ting ennit

The correct numbers are 740 and 50.

Need to change to an XD free hub and also you will need a specific axle end cap as standard ones foul the lockring. Or you can just file down the regular one.

An end cap is supplied with the Driver body but worth noting should you need to switch axles

    A couple full bike shots.

The ring is a 32 Hardcoat and the Uno spiderless version as you can see.
I too think it suits the frame perfectly. The fit n finish on them is second to none and the lockring preload adjuster makes setup a breeze.

I love the sound of the bars. Please can they be shiny silver?

Yep +1 for those bars and polished please Mr Stooge.

I’m liking my On One OG’s but they need to be wider…. And polished yeah deffo polished. Polished would be good..

    +1 for Bahco.

I have found their Allen Keys, Wrenches and Screwdrivers to be of excellent quality both for performance and longevity.

Yes this year’s one is stupidly long! being 5’11” last year’s medium was a good size for me and felt great. this year I’d be pushed to using a small! Longer lower blah blah I think the Alpine has lost its shit this for 2015.

You’d have still listened to them no matter where you were shopping.
You can dress it up in whatever lardy da words you want. Its still listening to music.

Oh dear. When I tested out that bike the other week I was really just riding it!
Or that new pint they had on at the bush I asked to try…… What a poncey **** I sounded…. I was just going to drink it.

    I’m currently running On-One OG’s

On-One“Dimensions are a 25degree bend, 685mm end to end, which mean they feel like a 720mm wide conventional riser bar.”

I feel these suit the bike rather well but i’d like to try something with slightly less back sweep .

An out of work pianist with Tourettes Syndrome is strolling around the
streets and bars of Dublin one unemployed afternoon. Walking down Dawson
Street he sees a lounge bar with a sign in the window ‘Pianist wanted for
    evening performances’.

‘F*cking get in there you c*nt!’ he says to himself and goes to the bar.
‘Get the f*cking manager of this pigs sh*t middle class w*nk hole please
you c*nt’, he says to a somewhat startled barman. The barman however
obliges and his manager comes upstairs. ‘Can I help you sir?’ he says

‘Yes you can you fat piece of sh*t, I saw your poxy advert in the c*nting
window and I’m here to audition…..w*nker.’

The manager is naturally put off by the man’s abrasive manner but his dire
need for a top class pianist forces him to agree to an audition. The
first tune the Pianist plays is an uplifting jazzy number, not too
involving, yet utterly melodic. At the end the thrilled barman cries,
‘Wonderful, wonderful. What was that called?’

‘That song, you big nosed tw*t, was called “Excuse me prime minister but I
just jizzed in your daughter’s eye, and now the c*nts blind…’

‘Oh’ says the manager ‘err, can you play me another. Something a little
    less “lively”.’

‘W*nker..’ interjects the pianist before launching into a powerful ballad
which leaves the manager in tears. The manager through his salty teardrops
    asks him the title.

‘That little number was called “Sometimes when you do a bird up the sh*t
box you get crap on your bell end.’

‘I see’ says the manager, ‘Have you got any songs with less offensive
    titles?’

‘Well there’s my jazz number “Do you want me to split your ringpiece”, or
there’s the epic “I don’t care if you’re older my dear, you’ve still got
    nice jugs”.

‘Look’ says the manager interrupting, ‘I think you’re a superb pianist but
the title of your songs are a little “racy”. I will hire you on the
condition that you do not introduce your songs or speak to the audience.’

‘f*ck it’ says the pianist ‘Why not’.

On his first night everything is going superbly the crowd are lapping up
his repertoire and his silence is being received as modesty. The only
thing putting off the pianist is that in the front row there is a gorgeous
blonde in a black evening dress with a split up the side revealing the
tops of her stockings, and a plunging neckline which boasts a proud and
inviting cleavage. During the interval the pianist has got such a stonking
hard on that he decides to go to the bog and knock one out.

Just as he has shot his muck he hears himself being re-introduced over the
tannoy, so he rushes back to the stage and finishes his act. After the
show he is at the bar relaxing when the blonde approaches him.’Hi’ she
says. ‘Hello’ he winces, struggling to hold in the expletives.

She leans over and whispers in his ear, ‘Do you know your cock is hanging
out of your trousers, and spunk is dribbling onto your shoes?’

    ‘Know it?’

says the pianist putting his beer on the bar confidently,

    ‘I f*cking wrote it !!!’

    I’m 5’11” 31″ inside leg.
Rode an 18″ Piglet2 50mm stem 740mm bars straight post. for general xcountry it felt about right although more technical trails I found myself wishing I’d built a 16″

If you’re not into his hobby and knowledge of it is limited don’t go trying to buy related gifts your probably looking at tat.

Think about being bought puncture repair kits, clip on led lights bells and reflectors by non cycling relatives.

If you really want to keep it car related maybe if you have a nice picture of his car get a canvas printed for his office/man cave

Or simply take it out for a spin and have a beer.

We have rabbits sometimes they are left out over night hutch accidentally left open and the things are still around in the morning… Our garden is secure and familiar to them so not sure escape is on their minds.

Anyway I’d check for possible escape routes into neighbours gardens etc if there are plenty of ways out you’ll be lucky to see it again (although I did catch one of ours nonchalantly sitting on the grass across the close once)

Chuck some food down and wait if it appears then block off the exit route and run round like a dick trying to catch the bugger they can really quick! a landing net has helped me in the past…
Failing that consult the book of armaments.

Nice – first SS I’ve seen
    You prefer a straight seatpost?
    How does she ride?

Straight post yeah I’m 5’11” thought the reach with a 50mm stem and old man bars would be about right, found this Thompson post and thought I’d give it a go.
After the first ride I’m happy with my position on the bike.. Saddle is right back on the rails mind.

It rides really well I love it infact I know NBS n all that but it’s a proper grinner for sure. surprisingly comfortable and great handling too its no regular 29er, 29ers really ain’t my thing at all but this thing is something else really nimble feels so much lighter than it is, effortlessly bunny hopping fallen logs n shit (literally) yet still retaining the usual wagon wheeler feel of straight line barrelling through ruts etc.
Performed well through the country lanes too, tyres weren’t as draggy as expected and was keeping up with the (leisurely) roadies as we passed I heard mutterings of “mumble….a Jones or something or other ”

Yep great bike suits me to a T and looks sweet as too.

Ghost are basically the German Specialized/Trek.
They are generally pretty good only let down by some of the finishing kit dated long stems/narrowish bars. Over than that spec is usually good.

The SE series is the budget range and the 8000 being near the top of that range. The next step up are the HTX series and my advice would be going for a lower end HTX over a top end SE… It’s a much nicer and lighter frame.

Why are we suggesting old cars.
Ever driven any of these old cars… Ive driven quite a few…fun in their own way…would i daily drive them….poke that.

Same reason there are threads on here about rigid steel singlespeeds aswell as carbon fibre full suss with electronic suspension… Less is more to some.. Ent it.

I think a picture of a Skoda yeti towing a caravan and taking up 3 parking spaces captioned ‘practical and fun’ may just be the most depressing thing I’ve ever seen!

    Bang on
