I think Luke Rowe switched Cav off to secure the win for himself.

I’ve recently dug out my old bike that I used to race on in the mid 80’s.
    It’s a smasher.

More bikes on the roads, less on the trails is good for me.

The problem with pine is the nasty orange colour it goes. I would use a paint stripper rather than sanding it to preserve any natural colour the table has aquired over time.

The orange colour comes mainly from the lacquer and tends to be worse with spirit based varnishes. Clear water based lacquered would be less orange. Wax doesn’t really change the colour but offers sod all protection.

I’d probably recomend a water based lacquer but even this will orange over time.

Have you thought about painting it?

Imo oil is not a suitable finish for pine.

Edit:Unless it’s Victorian or something in which case wax and do regular maintenance.

What a brilliant race. Excellent ride from Lizzie but Vos deserved it in the end. Good ride from Emma Pooley as well. I think Armistead could have jumped a bit further out as Vos was always going to win in a sprint. Silver is a good result though and first GB medal.

I’m gonna have to find something to do for the next couple of hours. I’ve been a gibbering wreck for 3 days now. If Cav wins today I don’t think I will be able to blame dust.

Yeah. And why when there is someone only feet away who will give you a ball would you run around with one in your pocket anyway?

I tipped some water out of my Heckler the other day. Nowhere near a pint though.

I witnessed this once when surfing. A bloke was swimming further out then us but his style just looked odd and slow. By the time we had decided that he may be drowning there was a life gaued to him. A bit of a chill up my spine realising he could have drowned while we looked on in so little time. Thanks for posting.

I would check the oil in the lowers. I’ve had two sets with very little oil in when new. I think it should have about 15ml in each leg.

Also the negative chamber is small making it harder to fine tune.

I run my Revs 20psi lower in the negative chamber. The more pressure you have in the negative chamber the easier it is to initiate travel. It’s a fine balancing act.

Sowerby Bridge is clearly your place. Train station, loads of good beer, close to M62 and when the hills are full of snow there is never any in Sowerby Bridge.

Loads of really good riding and is just under Norland Moor where Davey boy wonders photo is taken. Brand new swimming pool too.

^wot he says. Strengthening and stretching of your feet and calfs.

I,ve been trying some Merrell trail gloves over the last few weeks. They make you very aware of how your foot strikes the floor. You’ve got to strike with the forefoot obviously so it’s incredibly hard work for your lower calves at first. I do like them but I won’t be running in them all the time, but it has made me think about getting shoes with less cushioning and less drop.

They are probably not for anyone who needs support though as Jeb says.

The 5 fingers look a bit weird though but i’ve seen them in real life.

Jeb, can you explain further your comment about natural fat and achilles heel?(Not the chips on the couch thing. I know all about that.)

I was called last year. I’m self employed and filled in the form as such so didn’t have to do it. Shame as I would have liked to but 2 weeks is way to long to be away from my business.

Some of the first 6 day races where brutal. For example *in 1897 Charlie Miller rode 2093 miles in a six at Madison Square Garden. In the whole 6 days he only stopped for 10 hours. Amazing.
The 2011 tour de france was 2130 miles covered in 21 stages. Soft gets.

*nicked from Robert Penn – It’s all about the bike. Good book with lots of other historical titbits.
