Just went through a very similar dilemma, opted for the Revs as they were lighter and had the maxle

Snaps – I have been looking at them and really tempted but buying from across the pond does put me off a lot. If they go wrong I suspect Rock Shox won’t do anything on warranty and I have been stung in the past paying import tax on stuff when bought from abroad.

If anyone else has any experience with buying from the states which is any different to this let me know!

£500 for some Lyriks is over my budget and slightly heavier than I would like.

Sektors are an option but haven’t tried or even seen any yet.

I would prefer to move to bolt through rather than QR.

There were a few good deals around a month ago but they seem to have dried up!

Never buy on a recommendation always go and try them on. I personally prefer 5:10's but I only really like one pair as other designs don't suit my feet.

I went into a Go Outdoor's and tried around 10 pairs before buying my last pair. They leave all the stock they have on the shelf so you can be left in peace to find whatever works best for you.

I think you will be fine.

I'm not a dog owner but I would be pretty embarrassed if my dogs attacked someone else and I was unable to control them

I'm running some Supersonic MK 2.4's at the mo and have been really pleased with them other than the lack of protection they offer. Moving over to RQ's next as no one really has a bad word to say about them so must be worth a look!

Right I think it's working well! Proof will be on Sat's ride. Should be a dry one so small amounts of dust should be the only thing interfering with my changing.

Not holding my breath but seems to have done the trick*

*Used the no chain method above made life a lot easier thanks chaps!

Based in Bristol so if anyone nearby can take me through it and I supply the beers that works for me!

I know the logic just can seem to put it into practice! Other things are fine like stripping my forks and swapping out all the internals but gears argh!!!

Using Sram X9 which I am sure is easy its just become my nemesis!

He is moving from Edinburgh having lived there for the past 20 years. He may only live in Swindon itself for around 6 months but having never lived in England nevermind Swindon he wants to get a feel for the area but doesn't want to live in a shithole for those 6 months.

A few people have suggested the Old District but is there anywhere else worth looking at?

Tiboy – I am based in Bristol so may take you up on that offer as it would be great to try one out before taking the plunge!

I like the sound of the coil and if I can try and get a Ti spring the weight penalty won't be huge and like you say it's not meant to be a light weight bike.

Currently running the Hi shuttle as I was getting fed-up with clattering pedals every few mins!

CCDB would be lovely but my budget won't go that far and I am planning on getting a new frame early next year anyway.

Thanks for all the suggestions, really fancy trying a coil on it What does running a steep shuffle mean tho? I am assuming there is an issue with the piggy back on the shock hitting the frame somewhere if you get the wrong one?
