Bear, now I know what you’re on about!!!
Mine is a bike mount and it’s made by Biologic. It seems pretty hardcore, but I’ve only used it on the bike. I’m sure it would be OK for work, if a little bulky…

I’d do the driving myself and then ask them if there is any manoeuvre or performance test that they would like me to carry out…
If they crash it, you’re screwed!

My brother-in-laws Russell could nick darts out of the treble 20 on a dart board. However if it takes a liking to the chickens it could always dig under the fence too!!!

Bear, haven’t you just had a week off work with a runny nose?
Singletrackmind – I’ve got a feeling, (a bad one) that I may be in your situation… I can’t touch my little finger, or bend it 90 degrees… The end of my thumb is also numb and tingly. I’ve already had it x-rayed and it’s not broken, but I think I might go back tomorrow to see what the quacks have got to say…

    +1 for Bear
Contact ACTiV and see if they’ll arrange the Sunday ride for “The Wye Loop”. It’s near Ashfird and is a nice 2-2 1/2 hr singletrack ride with an amusing selection of people! You can find them on Facebook. Debbie led Singletrack magazine round this loop a couple of years ago…
If you want to go fast and not chat, then Kent Trails will be for you and their rides are longer too at around 4 hours.
Bedgebury is OK, but if you park at the site it’s £7!!! Also if you go there at the weekend and it’s a lovely day, you might be asking to overtake quite a lot…

I bought a Tag Kirium F1 about 5 years ago and I wear it everyday. The stainless bracelet is obviously worn, (scratched, but can be buffed), but the sapphire crystal face is still in A1 condition. I had bought a cheaper watch to wear for when I was doing other things like working under the car, chain sawing, laying concrete etc but the faces all got scratched and straps broke. Either get a Casio G-Force or go the whole hog. Don’t forget if you buy an expensive watch it will ‘need’ to be serviced every 4 years at anywhere between £200 – £400…

    Odlo long sleeve base layer.
Works over a huge temperature range, washes well, stays in shape. 4 years old and still awesome…

I have chickens, various 12G shotguns, an air rifle and rats. I poison the rats away from the chickens, normally by filling in all the holes after popping some poison (wheat covered poison that smells like aniseed). I set up traps where the kids can’t get to and lose their fingers.
The best way is to get a “humane” trap whereby the rat goes into a cage that is baited and the exit door drops down when they get to the bait. You can then dispose of the rats as you see fit. Seems to work well and avoids any problems with being a poor shot / poisoning chickens / losing the kids fingers.

Double rib joint. Let the joint get to room temperature. Preheat the oven up to 220C, with the baking tray in it. Pull out the tray, roll the meat in the tray to seal it a bit, lob it in the oven. Turn down to 180C after 10 minutes. Remove after an hur and a half, stick in a skewer, let the juices run out. If the juices run red, and that’s how you like it, cover in foil and let it rest for 15 minutes. Carve, eat and drink.
    Job done.

The wife’s got ‘Herman’ on the kitchen top… It’s been taking up room for about 5 days, although apparently its going to get cooked tomorrow…
We had it when I was a kid, I’m hoping this one tastes as good!

Insurers will no doubt pay out something, probably less than £1000 to her because it’s simply cheaper to do that than to have a lawyer go to court and incur the court costs when they undoubtedly lose as whiplash is very hard to detect and very easy to fake.
You’ll lose your no-claims bonus unless it’s protected and she’ll be using the works computer to book her next holiday while you do overtime to pay for your increased premium.
“Come the revolution” the no win scumbags and those who ambulance chase all the police reports will be lined up against the wall and I’ll be there, waiting, with an itchy trigger finger…

My only gripe is hassle I’m having with Memory Map at the moment but should have that sorted soon.

I have ordered some XXL from Cycle Surgery but the race version (Assos T Fi.13 S5 Men’s Bib Shorts), that normally retail at £225 and they were knocking them out for £135.99!!!

I have been right royally shafted sensless with an open bottle extra hot chilli sauce by NFU in the past when I tried to make a claim… I wouldn’t go as far as hunting down and torturing the individual policy writers, but I know where they live…
Still, you might find them really nice people and get things sorted straight away.

Oakley Jawbones for me. I find I can see things in bright light at distance that you just can’t pick up with the naked eye (I’m a pilot). Clear vented lenses work a treat for night ridesalthough they still steam up when stopped, but normally clear when you get going again.
If you have problme s with steaming up, treat your lenses to some ‘Gloop’. It’s made to stop motorbike visors steaming up (especially at this time of year) and works a bit on my Oakley lenses…

    What are your favourite positions?

    Most used are;
    Memory Map

    Tune in Radio
    Facebook (unfortunately)
    Uni-light (torch facility)
    SKY+

I quite like Shazam (which listens to music and then tells you what it is and who it’s by).

I had a pair of Sid World Cup (Blackbox tech with carbon steerer). They flexed a LOT!!! However they came with the bike I bought (Top Fuel) and I didn’t really have the funds to change the to Reba’s, but I wished I could have.
The suggested air pressures on the fork leg only go up to a rider weight of 180lbs and I’m 200lbs. As I said, they did flex a lot, but after 4 years of year round abuse, here and abroad, (including a service once a year), they are now stuffed and it wouldn’t be worth servicing them again for the cost.
I never noticed the flex issue while riding (I had no direct comparison), apart from when appling the front brake and looking down, when the front wheel would seemingly dissapear underneath the down-tube!! OK, so that’s an exaggeration, but it did move a LOT!
The main reasons for wanting REBA’s was the recommended rider weight issue and the longing for a bigger front rotor. The SIDs are limited to a 160mm rotor and in the Alps I cooked the brake fluid all the time.
If you’re fat and need a big rotor, go for the REBA’s. IF your ickle and a weight-weenie, go for the SID’s.

If the chain is managing to jump off the jockey wheel surely there’s not enough tension on the chain?
Is the the chain too long or the return spring in the mech knackered?

ACTiV of Folkestone will let you test the Trek Range and I’m sure they’ve got a couple of Ally Ex’s, and also a Rumblefish (Gary Fisher 29er). 01303 240110.
If they haven’t got the bike you want they’ll let you borrow their own bike if it helps.
My EX9.9 rocks!!! 50% of the bikes round here are EX’s of various grades and ages – they just work!

My sister hoesed my neice in a cold shower the first time she peed her pants while potty training. My neice never did it again, although she does rock herself to sleep…
We just waited until my kids were ready and encouraged them in a positive manner. Once you’ve started though, you’ve got to stick with it no matter where you are…

    Best 120mm ish XC/Trail bike?
My EX9.9. I love it. The ABP really works and stops the back wheel locking up on sketchy (rooty/rocky) descents. I thought my last bike was fast but this thing is amazing!!!

I got a similar sort of thing from flea-bay. I used it for both my kids, and we could load up for the day, including all the crap you need for a 3 and 4 year old. They loved it, I got abike ride and the wife was happy. Win, Win, Win!!!

Depends on how much light you’re after! I run (at night) with my Joystick in a USE manufactured specific headband. It’s all the light you could ever need, small and reasonably comfortable. I’ve tried the little LED lights but found them wanting when I was orienteering and needed to see a little further to find checkpoints.

Trailrakers are de rigeur round here in the winter, as it’s mostly slop. Mud X’s roll better, are better cornering (thanks to more of a rounded profile) and are a close second for grip.
Bonty’s are tubeless ready so are a bit more of a faff to seat on the rim.
Personally I prefer the Trailrakers for where I ride.

5 years – Top Fuel 110 (all XTR), called Sheryl. Ridden all year round through mud and waste deep water! Now retired as an occasional winter bike and I’m slowly nicking bits to put on my new bike.
Poor Sheryl… She was a bit like ‘Triggers Broom’, the only original bits are the main frame, stem and forks – EVERYTHING else has been replaced at some point (even the Chris King headset!).
Love that bike, but you’ve got to move on…
