SpankmonkeyFree Memberive seen 3 gps at the same practice, im at the end of my tether and 4 weeks of bad pain is becoming a nightmare…. I have been on diclofenac and diazapan no help, yesterday they said give it another 3-4 weeks….. its getting worse not better!
SpankmonkeyFree MemberFTW – For the win
OMG – Oh My God
OMFG – you know what the f stands for!!WRT the OP TBH WTF, AFAICT and FWIW STFW for more abreviations, OTOH NP FWIW this thread had me ROFL. TY and BFN
SpankmonkeyFree Memberno the money is not yours now, in fact forget money, you use a credit card to get a nice HD tv worth a grand… you owe a bank for it, then using a loop hole is immoral to avoid paying it back. You technically then have a free tv which the bank have paid for… that is wrong! Dont get me wrong I hate banks, but at the end of the day they are a business and you are borrowing their money, you borrow, you pay it back it really is that simple, if you borrow beyond your means then you only have yourself to blame. Im not holyer than, I have done this in my teens, borrowed far too much and spent 6 years paying it back, but I did, my stuff up, my greed buying what I did not have the cash for. I have never borrowed or used a Credit card since. Would I expect to have got the debt wiped… not in a million years, 100% my responsibility
SpankmonkeyFree Membercome on a credit card it not the same as a large loan. A credit card you sign up to and the T&C’s. you spend when you walk into a shop, time and time again, its about bad planning and being greedy buying what you cannot afford, when you get a credit card the balance is £0.. only you spend and add to it. You cannot blame a bank for that. I have 2 credit Cards both on 0% interest when they start hitting interest after 1 year I switch the balance to a new 0% card and so on (even though I have a zero balance) . Some people just spend what they dont have due to greed and then moan after, if you aint got the dosh dont spend what you dont have, the best leason my dad ever taught me. Credit cards are ideal for short term small purchases to tie you over and pay it off after a month, not shoving £1000’s on and then getting into trouble.
Sorry no sympathy here, people dont think before spending what they dont have! then moan that they pay interest, a bank is a business, you borrowed their cash.. your responsibility
SpankmonkeyFree Memberbeing mis sold something is different thats bad advice, taking a credit card is choice and you know what your spending on it!
SpankmonkeyFree MemberI agree but lets face it, people spend spend spend on a credit card then moan they cannot pay it back…. then try to find a loop hole so they dont have to…. good as theft in my book! they have brought goods with the cash then get away with not paying back……….. perhaps just me but I dont like it, why should anyone get away with free goods. Now if you dont like the credit % change cards every year to keep the interest at 0%…
SpankmonkeyFree MemberI have run a few
Older Hope Mono mini’s and M4’s, great but pistons can stick and cause drag, easy to bleed
New silver and black Mono Mini’s…. cant fault them, nice lever feel and bite, easy to bleed
Hope tech range, if you have the cash go for them, the new levers and adjustment are just great
Fomulao Oro K18’s – very nice and light, great bite point, again cannot fault them, not as easy to bleed though
Hayes – Errrrm im not going to comment, I have had HFX-9’s and strokers, HFX-9’s are all or nothing, the stokers broke and coroded although they have a great lever feel
New Saints, mate has them and they are just nice, could be OTT if you want them for XC as they are powerful, cant comment on bleeding them
For me hope quality shines through, lots of spares available and hope support is great. For your want I would have a good look at the K18’s
SpankmonkeyFree MemberAnd we wonder why we are in credit crunch, people trying to wipe debt they built up, and who pays in the end.. yep the rest of us one way or another. cheers for that :)
SpankmonkeyFree MemberI had the new tech V2’s… perfect adjustment (same lever as the new tech M4) daft amount of power. I think Hope have got it spot on with the new tech’s the new tech v2’s are far better than the older moto’s.
SpankmonkeyFree MemberNow has matching white goodridge hoses and floating rotors.
SpankmonkeyFree MemberI have had this issue before and messed about / wasted cash on new pads, rotors etc, changing the brakes worked a treat to a whole new set. Also depends on the age of your brakes, new designs are somewhat better than a few years back. And braided hoses, changed mine a lot, as they dont expand like normal hose… set of goodridge / HEL etc should help a lot with power.
SpankmonkeyFree Memberyes thank you, saved over 2 million this year and won procurement awards (national)I have set up more contracts then I have had hot dinners! but thats what i get paid for….
if the shop sold it at the new prices it would be un ethical as they are making additional profit over what they paid for it (as they brought it based on old prices). But hey if you want to buy an old stock bike at full rrp go ahead…. I will guarantee there are bargains out there below rrp, its a buyers market atm! how many people really pay full rrp?
Ho hum your choice,
And yes I do with my suppliers, it called open book partnership to benefit all parties… works a treat!
SpankmonkeyFree Memberthe comment on xc, I just meant I dont like flat long slogs, I like techy, rocky flat is fine if its fast and narrow trails, im just not into the open space no brain slogging…. I like to be thinking and adapting to the terrain all the time….. if you get my drift!
SpankmonkeyFree Memberno he’s obviously a shop trying to flog a bike… at full rrp and trying to make it sound like its a deal even though they got it at pre increased prices. Paying full rrp (based on what the shop got it for) is not a deal! Now offering 10% off or whatever would be… I wont however mention that shops are not supposed to flog on here…… ah
Its kind of like me buying some brakes at £100, 2 months later they get hiked up to £120 rrp then I sell them for £100 (what I paid) and say its a bargain and saving of £20…..
chip on our shoulder andy? im 34 so not youth, just pointing out the obvious.
SpankmonkeyFree Membererrrm still rrp then
Now drop £400 off the new prices or £200 off the old prices now that would be worth shouting about! as it is old stock = old rrp
Sorry im in procurement :)
SpankmonkeyFree MemberS-T so basically your selling at the rrp at the time you got it…. mmmm not really a saving is it, more the correct price at time of stock.
SpankmonkeyFree MemberWell despite having a 4 year old a 3 month old, broken wrist, ribs, 4 operations, one child in hospital for 3 months I have finally got my mojo back! biking took a serious back seat for a long time, priorites change and time gets limited, part of it is having the energy to ride… kids take major effort… it will come back!!
SpankmonkeyFree MemberHope he is ok, when I had my crash the ambulance and hospital were great, very under valued service…. hope all goes ok!
SpankmonkeyFree Memberthey have the 9 in my lbs… very nice indeed! I went through this debate for a long time,. looking for the best compromise between xc, all day rides and somthing you can still push hard but still pedal up a hill……..
I am damn happy with this, everything is just spot on….
SpankmonkeyFree Member£3600 for a Marin attack trail …. Sorry I just could not do it! I cannot see on the spec what warrants that price tag and it aint that light, for that money you could get a custom built and made bike
SpankmonkeyFree Membercube fritzz?
Intense 5.5 (or whatever the new version is called)
Nomad
Lapierre, spicy / zesty
Titus x racer
Ransom Ltd Carbon
All very very nice, I have the 5.5 and it just feels right, my mate just got a nomad and cannot stop smiling… I also have friends on Lapierre and titus so all very happy again. I think the remedy will be too heavy / slack to race or use for enduro. personally I would say the 5.5, nomad and lapierre’s are great for most things but if you want to go lighter and race then a titus
SpankmonkeyFree Membererrrm no, how much do you have to cut off the sheath? thats fine for the lever end as the goodridge cover will go over that, but on the caliper end wont I have a length of braided hose showing instead of the colour hose?
SpankmonkeyFree Memberah I have the banjo etc etc etc I have the complete hope mono mini’s I am just changing the hose from hope to goodridge but the goodridge hose is 1mm larger, so can I just by the larger shroud / collar and will the existing fittings (straigh line and banjos) fit the larger shroud?
SpankmonkeyFree MemberIt is the EVP… if it can handle cwm carn DH thats great :) I live not far away from there and thats prob as “gnar” as I will get with it, I want to get more into the long epic all day rides but still have a good ragging session..
SpankmonkeyFree MemberYea the bearings Im not worried about, if they need replacing then so be it, I brought as I am moving from Downhill and wanted something that could take me anywhere on epic rides, xc but if I do hit some bigger stuff I wat to know what the limmit of the bike is.. im not a heavy rider style wise so bikes normally have an easy life we me.. Same with the headangles, it just feels right as im running a bit more sag, I guess its more how the actual frame / forks will hold up, im very happy with the feel and geometry of the bike, it does look and feel a bit slacker than others I have seen
SpankmonkeyFree Memberits a bad photo the clearance is good! so much I could go up from 2.1’s to 2.4’s. I know I have gone for a lighter wheelset but I dont normally have an issue with buckling wheels and tbh as they were cheap I am not too bothered about doing so…. I am more on about the frame and forks
SpankmonkeyFree MemberActually if you get down to still woods it is fun sliding in the mud fest, as its like clay you can have great fun doing the lines and drifting the whole way down, certainly keep you on your game!
SpankmonkeyFree MemberOk… you can easily answer this… NO
We used to ride rigid bikes anywhere, I used to race in the early 90’s on one so its possible as there was nothing else, I remember when getting a tioga t bone stem was the biggest upgrade you could make! :) need…. not at all, I still remember doing the 3 peakswith my mates on old rigid bikes.. best riding I ever did
Ah and remember the original clunkers…. down the side of a mountain flat out one brake,
Want, yes
SpankmonkeyFree MemberIm 34 and got my 1st proper mtb at 14 ish so 20 years ago…. I have fond memories of biking 5 times a week and a few epic 4 day long rides, I ode it everywhere, would I want my Muddy fox courier comp or cannondale M500 back…………………….. NO, would I want a robin reliant to replace my MPV………. No, sorry times moved on, dont get me wrong I miss the old bikes for their simplicity, little maintenace needed, just get on and ride it, now its all about fettling and adjusting things as soon as a bit of mud hits… a small trade off imho
SpankmonkeyFree MemberYou will get 100 answers from 100 people all different. IMHO the fritzz is spot on but a LOT of cash (the new 09) other than that I dont think you could go wrong with
Orange 5
Fritzz
New Remedy
Zesty 514
Intense 5.5
NomadNow my friend is currently bikeless and cannot make his mind up between all of them, all great all around the 2.5k mark, all will do the job very very well. All will pedal up and hammer back down again and all are light. I guess for me that list is the top line All Mountain bike list. I just built up a 5.5, personally the only one I would plump for is the fritzz above that, but just my opinion. 5.5’s are not common to find, not many reviews about but that said the ones you find rave about it! you could add a IBIS mojo to the list but again not easy to get and cost a lot + they are carbon if your happy with that. Oh and yes cannondale do the moto but they are new and still overpriced imho. The list I put there they will weigh on average from about 26-31 lbs depending on finishing kit, ideally about 28lbs is great for 5″ travel, there is not much you wont be able to do with any of them!
SpankmonkeyFree MemberMBUK, they used to be shoddy and just in the dark ages with cr@p like riders other halves nude.. and other tosh, but now the forward look on new products the test rides and technical are all pretty good, they also test a wide range i.e £500 hardtails, £2k hardtails, xc racing sussers, DH bikes, All Mountain etc there have been a few surprise ones i would not have expected them to do i.e Duster Ti, Intense 5.5, few from Bionicon, etc All in all I quite like it now, and some reports i.e From the meaga were very god as they looked at it from 3 riders experiences. there is nothing missing and every month is a change. Im quite surprised, sadly a lot of people slate it but have not read it since the editor changed a while back!!
SpankmonkeyFree Memberno rain in Filton and not likley to looking at the clouds
SpankmonkeyFree Membersorry to hear about the s-works…. only problem with a recon is you cannot do that on epic all day rides otherwise you would ride in circles all day!
SpankmonkeyFree MemberYou need tighter lycra to be aerodynamic in the air, of course shaving your legs will help as well…………
but seriously yes learn to jump, you can then hit any trail and jump and hit it 1st time without doing a recon!
SpankmonkeyFree MemberI think it was the bike rack that caused the crash… remove the offending item :) jobs a goodun!
SpankmonkeyFree Membertails you say you cannot knock her honesty.. what she says oh yea when she is challenged, the prices are on the board and she cannot argue with that, of course she will act all oh sorry.. but anyone with any nouce working in a cafe should know the cost of a breakfast it’s prob their main selling dish. over charging by £2.50 for a breakfast is not a mistake, its either skimming into the pocket and the till is level at the end of the day or she is plain thick.. customers knowing what a breakfast costs but not the staff, I think not. Either way not good business. Better off taking a risk with BK
SpankmonkeyFree MemberJust take it easy and dont rush it.. I broke my wrist over a year and a half ago in 8 places and shattered the lot, the specialist surgeon has my xray for training new surgeons it was such a mess, 1 plate, 8 rods and 16 screws….. 1 week in hospital and 3 operations later and I am still feked with loss of movement and feeling! now and then my hand opens for no reason! not great when your holding a baby :? or a pint :P that said I have my hand so im happy!
rushing it will damage you and your long term outlook, just follow exactly what a physio or the surgeon tells you.. or you can choose the stw collective advice from jon and go for 6ft drops … you choose!
