Been meaning to get an ad together. I’ve got Dialled Alpine gathering dust in the shed that I want rid of, 18″, orange, meets the other specs you mention.

Going back to the screw on 9 speed. I did this on my lads 24″ and managed to get a decent range which has worked perfectly. Think it was like this

This came up yesterday and is related, also there are links in there that expand on the point and some potential fixes

Shimano brake calliper seals – can they be fixed?

Nice one steve, I thought that would be the case but that’s reassuring.

I’ve got the SLX m675 too and think the seals are on the way out (they’ve had plenty of use). My question is would the 675 levers be compatible with a newer generation M6000 caliper? Anyone done this? I just hate chucking working components in land fill if it isn’t necessary!

I like the sound of filling in doubles to make table tops, asking for trouble at the moment. Glad this is all getting some use, hopefully with a spade and snippers!

This should show you the water park area and kenworthy woods stuff.

Count: I might head down with a shovel later and work on some berms.

Great effort, really enjoyed that last night, thanks for your work. I’ll head down there again later.

If you’ve only got one day then head for Ladybower, takes a lot of beating.

There are a couple of lines in Kenworthy Woods, head up the main hill from the river and explore to the left, couple of drops and gaps. It’s not much but the best I can find right now. There is also a line to the right – towards the substation. We cleared some bits the other day and I reckon more traffic would help on it. The Ees are too full of walkers to do anything much fun. I’d be happy to do some digging.

Struggled with the Barking album, just not techno enough for me.

Have really enjoyed the drift series but there is just so much to go at

I don’t think the Manchester Climbing Centre one is entirely fair. They had some zero hours staff but it certainly wasn’t/isnt’ all.

Withington cycles used to have some nice Ibis in there, could be worth a chat with them if it’s local to you, they’re always dead helpful.

Similar experience with Andrew Weatherall Fabric live that I got from Vinyl Exchange. Can’t leave it alone at the moment!

I can see that it might be a tough one to get if you just hear individual tracks on the radio. As an album or a live performance she is really powerful. I would recommend getting Let them eat chaos or book of traps, sitting down and listening to them from start to finish.

There’s a Bird facebook group that these come up for sale on pretty regularly, sure there was one one that went for about £300 not so long ago. Worth a look, great bikes.

I’d definitely stick with it if you have the insides set up as you like it. They are good vans with well known issues that are easily resolved. Look after it and you can easily double your current mileage. I drove down from Manchester to get my box done in Wolverhampton and driving home it felt the best it ever has done. Time and cash well spent.

I had similar trouble and there is a gearbox specialist called Ian Peck in Wolverhampton that refurbs these, his work is top quality. Basically you need new bearing in the gearbox and he will open it up and replace what is needed, much better than a second hand box, will cost you £600 upwards and he’ll do it in a day. I got his details via a Trafic/Vivaro group on facebook which is full of common problems and fixes and the standard reply to anything gearbox related is go and see Ian Peck. It reminds me of the “go and see jedi” mantra that always comes up on here when anyone mentions bike skills! Ah that is more annoying, apologies I misunderstood. I’m really tempted by one of these or a big dog but all the ordering woes do put me off.

Didn’t they all sell out really quickly, so if they haven’t got any XLs in stock they wouldn’t be able to exchange. Looks great in the pics!

Love a good update, great job with the dehumidifier – so you just bung wet stuff in those wire baskets do you and let it do its work?

Drilling the roof is horrible isn’t it! Don’t get me wrong, you’ve done a lovely job. I just hate that moment when you’re going to put a hole in the solid roof and bring in potential leaks. That is a hefty bit of solar, top job.

Those Jerba things look awesome but they are £4300, wow, I spent half that on ours and it works great. Although only the kids sleep in ours, it seems odd to convert a van and then sleep in the roof. The interior of the van is nicely insulated from sound and cold, ours is just a lovely place to sleep whereas the canvas bit above rattles like a tent. BUT you get the interior space to carry kit, so I can see the benefit. Not sure that I’ve helped much!

Love the map work on the step, might have to do that on mine somewhere, maybe cupboard doors. The awning is always a compromise, I glued and screwed a rail on to ours which a tarp can slide on to or the awning (but this only happens once a year at most) – hate the faff of drying wet tent.

I’ve got an exAA Trafic and love it. You read some horror stories about them but my logic was they are regularly serviced and lots of motorway miles, ok they do lug a lot of kit while doing it. Had mine 4 years and no major problems, it’s been to Italy, Spain and the Alps, I converted it to a camper. I found mine on autotrader, just filter for yellow vans and you’ll find some.

Looks like you’re set for another great trip, the ceiling and new step look smart. Any down sides to the bigger van yet? In terms of manoeuvrability on alpine passes or tight campsites? We have a Trafic at the moment and love how it will go anywhere but always lust after these bigger vans for my next build.

I think if you were chucking it down the sort of stuff that Cy is eluding to there then you might well bring even the Bird lifetime warranty into question. Bikes do crack every now and again. If I’d bought a Cotic and it cracked then I would be confident that they would be helpful and reasonable in sorting out the problem. That is the message that has always come out of these sorts of discussions. Let’s not try and find problems in a great UK company, doesn’t seem fair to me.

Been a lot of rain since two weeks ago, this was from keeper of the peak on Sunday (doesn’t sound too bad to be fair)……

thought id risk it for a biscuit and try cutgate today. First section is running water up to mickledon edge which is 👌🏻 choose your path carefully around the “bog of doom” some puddles are deeper than they look.

From what I’ve heard it is still pretty boggy across the top and there is rain forecast for today, I’d been planning to avoid it til we get another dry spell.

It’s on sky isn’t it? So you need the sky go app on the tablet, find someone happy to share their login details and away you go! I can’t get it to stream to a chromecast though, sky seem to have locked that facility. To get around this I have the app on the laptop and hdmi cable to TV.
