Our impossibly wealthy neighbours had to have one of those ‘distributor’ types installed on their grounds purely to server their new build. Mind you, that’s £25m of new (3 years and counting) build 😯

That’d do fine, nice one nammynake.

Am looking for turbo trainer reviews and I hear the Kinetic Rock and Roll comes out on top. Is that correct? If so, not sure how many trainers are tested, so any decent res photos of whatever’s included would be appreciated. Email in profile.

    Cheers again

Ah, Immobilise – how did I forget that seeing as that’s where mine is?

    Will try BS too.

The next weekend I snapped my upper arm clean through, shoulder and knocked myself silly. The muscle on my left shoulder is still partly atrophied.

Was that not on the infamous roll-in just off Park Life? Subsequently named Hora’s Elbow by various locals.

    Fooking hot.

Split with the missus and had 3-4 months back at my place.

Did a wicked 5-6 day MTB tour of Cornwall in scorchio conditions. Got heat-stroke/dehydrated on day 3 or 4 and felt proper grim.

Did loads of other riding including Scotchland.

    Got back with the missus.

Meanwhile in other news, lots of people sadly died due to heat-related issues.

Sue, have a think about what you want to achieve from this. Get it down on paper, even if it’s just a basic list of bullet points. Elaborate where you want to.

This can give you focus on what you want to ‘move toward’ instead of ‘away from’. Can often provide better (and more positive) clarity in your thoughts AND actions.

It might also give you some pointers for what to include in your statement.

Can’t see me spending that kind of dough mudshark. Won’t be long before we have ‘proper’ smooth Streetview on TT and running machines. That would be cool.

I read some negatives about the Satori last night – reliability IIRC.

the elite you linked doesn;t have adjustable resistance (i think) if that is important to you.

Don’t know yet. I guess a MTB can make it too easy therefore higher resistance is required? Also need to figure out what’s best: magnetic or fluid.

Cheers guys. Some good comments in there.

My fear was the the resistance would be too light on a MTB, so maybe going for a higher-spec Elite (SuperCrono etc) is the best option. But a lot more money. Still, no point having something that doesn’t offer a challenge.

Had a look at I-Magic last night – the Real World vids look great, but I can’t justify that sort of expense.

    Hmm.

EDIT: maybe not so expensive if this SuperCrono does the job instead of this one.

I’ve used quite a noisy one whilst there was a sleeping baby in the next room. It’s just background noise to them I guess, they ignore it and go to sleep.

Good to know. Happy to give it a whirl.

Tunes not a problem – will download some of those samples though. Ta

IMO it’s going to remain like this for another generation before we (as a nation) see the light. Haven’t hit the worst of the spiral yet. Give it a year or two.

Am seriously concerned about raising little monkey in the society we have today. If we can’t find what we feel is ‘right’ then I’d happily up sticks abroad should the combination of work/education be appropriate.

Watched it last night. Decent enough article. Will be interesting to see how much the authorities dumb down the course when making it available to the public. Will the rocks stay? Too much H&S red tape going to have them replaced with a smoothie?

There was word that Benn was hypnotized by Paul MacKenna

Maybe. Can’t remember. Plenty of stories about Steve Collins being hypnotised before taking on Eubank. Remember the pictures of him pre-fight?

Hmm. Odd. We have a second freezer in he shed – it’s been there 4-5 years by now. Also have a wall heater but that only kicks in around 5deg. Has worked perfectly.

Yep, I remember that fight all too well too. Mclelland was well up for it as soon as the fight was announced and looked like he was going to do some real damage. Thought it was all over early doors when Benn was virtually knocked out of the ring. But he somehow got up and together the pair produced one of the most brutal scraps in recent years.

The ending was tragic though. Remember staying up til the middle of the night watching the updates on Sky News.

    Warriors to the end.

Had a play with EaseUS[/url] over the weekend and it looks mighty good; full disk image, incremental backup, recovery etc – and that’s just the free version. Solid reviews too. Have decided to stick with a local solution and keep with DropBox only for my day to day stuff.

with that RAM and procesor you cant touch it.

That’s like saying you’re gonna buy X car because it has the most BHP and torque for the money.

There’s more to it than that.

I recently recommended a Lenovo like this to my FIL. There was a slightly lower spec for about £360 IIRC – all the way up to £550 or so.

Had v good reviews on various PC/laptop sites etc.

EDIT: also not a fan of Acer here (personal experience plus I worked for an IT VAR where the likes of Acer and Dell were four-letter words).

I’ve been there too mate. Not a nice place to be, especially after all those years together. But it does get easier with the passing of time.

You’ve made the right decision. Just as I had to last year with Bert.

Remember they are with you wherever you go.

Having just skimmed over the way I’m currently organising my data, methinks I’m going start by restructuring it. There’s so much stuff but it has to be done.

Also had a play with SyncToy 2.1. If it’s proven to be stable then this could be ideal for one-touch synchronising of (specified) folders. Then the apps stuff can be looked after by regular images. Hmm …

Bloody hell, this is getting more intense that I expected 🙂

Dropbox – have been using that for 2-3 years for a mix of stuff that I access on the fly. So that’s covered.

VMWare – will check it out.

    Clonezilla – same.

CrashPlan – a bit like Dropbox’s bigger brother but with onsite options too?

    Interesting. Cheers guys.

You need to get away from this. You can’t backup “just apps” in any sort of meaningful sense (and there’d be little point even if you could).

Agreed … I’m talking about making an image on a regular basis so to cover apps. Maybe my use of the word ‘backup’ is too generalised.

    spacemonkey
    Full Member

Yeah, would like to recover the whole PC (or maybe just apps) if it gets trashed. Hence creating a full image once a month might be wise. Can imagine this might cause registry conflicts etc though?

Incremental backup of everyday data (work files and personal stuff) is key because of the amount of data I go through. Daily or weekly I guess. Haven’t the time to faff through stuff.

Maybe this is the way forward?

Time Machine equivalent? Might be something here …

Anyone have any stats on the the number (proportionally or whatever) of people that ride regularly in these countries? Similar stats for kids/teens/young adults?

Just wondering how much impact a proactive cycling culture/environment might have on ‘real world’ health etc.

#5 in Steve Erikson’s Malazan books.

A monstrous series steeped in all kinds of colourfully weird shit. IMO you don’t ‘have the time’ to figure everything that’s happening – you just go with the flow. Cracking read in parts.

Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding here. Strangely not nearly as ‘clever’ as the first book, so may give it a miss if it doesn’t pick up.

Sounds like a lot for the lad to be going through IMO. Is he exposed to a loads of kids/families, thus contracting ‘more’ stuff than ‘usual’?

Our 15 month old is on his third cough, and so far it’s lasted 4 weeks. Been to the quack 3 times; once for meds and then for 2 checkups. Cough still very apparent, and IMO more chesty than previously. But the doc still says it’s in his head/nose blah blah and all kids suffer like that. Yet a friend in the same position had to have her girl put on Ventolin at the same stage. What’s a parent supposed to do, eh?

Very sadly its now being reported elsewhere that certain papers where lining up an exclusive on him, and he possibly couldnt cope with the news.

That was the rumour on Twitter etc yesterday. Others thought it might be speculation, so for now, let’s leave that part alone.
