Just wondering for a minute: has today’s generation missed out the underground thang? ‘We’ seemed to have it on a plate back in the 80s/90s. Doesn’t seem to be that sort of ‘movement’ going on these days?

Some TV comic was saying the other day how the funny thing about Ecstasy, is the tiny little bubble of it that stays in your brain forever, ready to give you a rush any time the correct hypnotic trigger gets played on a retrospective music show..

Maybe … runs deeper than that though. You don’t need that sh1t to go ‘back in time’.

One of the most emotive aspects of music IMO is the way it evokes feelings as opposed to just memories. Puts you right back in the moment.

I assume you will get an email explaining why the other thread got pulled. Be a bit harsh otherwise.

Nah.

Anyways, tis certainly a trip back in time 😯

Why pull the other thread mods? Are we no longer allowed more than one discussion on the same topic?

A mate has lent me the whole series of The Wire but I haven’t got past the first series…It seems dated to me.

I believe in rehab all the way, but there are limits and a whole load of variables to consider. No way should that man be allowed to set foot outside of a jail for even one second.

Yup, their CS is awesome IME. I’ve had 4-5 of their bikes/frames as a result.

Check the ticket for details of who to contact re making an appeal. I did the same a few weeks ago after receiving a fine because my ticket wasn’t displayed correctly. Turns out the wind had blown it over on the dash (windows slightly down due to dog in the back + very windy day + parked at the front of the multi-storey).

Emailed my appeal along with pic of the ticket, received a response within 24 hr saying they were waiving the fine but let this be a lesson, i.e. make sure the ticket remains in proper view.

Sorted.

If the story is accurately portraying what happened them I’m with the OP – the rider will himself feel the impact of a very fast moving bike and get shunted 25ft through the air.

My mate’s daughter is in the GB swim team:

She won 1 silver and 3 bronze in Beijing (aged 16). Her medal/trophy collection so far is mahoosive like you wouldn’t believe.

Doubt I’ll watch as many events as I did recently, but will look out for her and a few cyclists and track athletes mainly.

I thought you were going to say something enlightening about the trail on Leith Hill … oh well, I’ll just have to think about beer for a while instead.

I’ve trialled loads of PM apps over the last couple of years. Best one for my/our purpose is TeamworkPM.

Other notable considerations include Smartsheet and Liquid Planner.

I’ve never taken the trailer on a road yet, and really don’t want to be playing with heavy traffic.

I felt the same when picking up our trailer a few weeks ago. But soon realised that you’re not gonna travel very far in these parts (Surrey Hills) unless you 1) use the roads/pavements or 2) buy that top end German £1100 trailer with better suspension for harder off-road use.

No issues with pavements so far – only drop down to using the roads where “absolutely necessary”. Won’t touch really busy stretches of any A roads though.

That was a great little watch. Cracking views to begin with followed by rocky forest action 😀

Did you capture that with an HD 1 or 2? Only asking because I’m looking at camera options right now.

+1 wait for iP5 release. Supposedly Sept (from tech media) even though carriers won’t admit this. I’m out of contract with an iP4 and ticking over on a cheap monthly tariff whilst waiting to see. Can’t see it being much of a leap forward mind. Will also most likely cost up front IRO of £100-£300 depending on storage/mins etc.

The missus has read these over the last couple of years:

– Redbreast
– Nemesis
– Devil’s Star

She digs them. Didn’t realise there were 2 earlier books though.

CF was very different to STW – certainly more “in yer face” like Cookeaa described. Can’t say I miss it though. I reckon it’s like Hora says, some of us have ‘grown up’ and are no longer just dicking about and kind of seek/embrace the broader spectrum that STW offers.

Used to ride with a few of the CF crew – a good crowd for sure. But that was then and this is now. Times change …

Once again a brilliant bit of business by Wenger . Gets a the best years out of a player then sells them for a huge profit when they are past their peak . Same story as Henry , Vierra , Anelka etc .

+ Nasri,Fabrigas

Sure, he might be great at turning a profit but what has he helped Arsenal win since 2005?

spacemonkey
Full Member

Yep, he is being bought on the back of just one season and sod’s law says he’ll spend X months out injured in his first season. But that’s the gamble. Probably even more likely given the number of ‘innocuous’ training injuries we have compared to most other clubs.

Remember, Vidic is back, Kagawa is quality (well, in the Bundesliga anyway) and DDG has another year under his belt. Sure, we’re still missing a DM but I think SAF is entrusting Carrick/Cleverley to handle that side of things, with Kagawa/Scholes playing further up.

But the fee is allegedly based on £15m up front plus performance-related add-ons. So if he does average say 20 goals a season and we win 2 PLs then IMO his purchase will have made a significant contribution. It won’t matter if the total fee ramps up along with mega wages. Job done as far as on-field performance is concerned.

All hypothetical of course …

spacemonkey
Full Member

Yeah, but if we get 20 goals a season out of him for 3 years then it’ll be decent enough business IMO. None of us are expecting another 30+ seasong.

That’s a pretty good strike force: Rooney, RVP, Hernandez, Welbeck and Berbatov*.

Plus the new Chilean fella who’ll probably end up out on loan.

Rooney and RVP may well be first choice in most games (fitness prevailing) but Welbs and Hernandez will still have a role to play. Berbatoss et al probably won’t get much of a look-in outside of the CC.
