    THIS

I've seen the chainstays on an Enduro snap as a result of seizure (caused by lack of correct maintenance). Definitely check everything moves as it should.

Is it Waterloo for the train?

Waterloo should take you to Dorking, then it's approx 5-7 miles to Holmbury. Although you can change down there and go to Effingham or Gomshall.

If I can make it, I might be able to pick you up …

I think we have family staying 20th to 24th so I'll have to see how easy it is to disappear. Perhaps if I'm a good boy Thu and Fri I'll be allowed out Sat or Sun :D

anything up to a 40 mile route

That's a fair old distance to go round at bimbling speed – a good 5-6 hours or so. Perhaps the group could split at some point for those that want to carry on?

My carbon Stumpy FSR feels very nimble and intuitive (to me anyway) – not sure about the unforgiving-ness though …

just stopped the bike and sat on the floor

Yep, that's exactly what it was like for me when it first kicked in. **** horrible.

Pretty much as everyone has explained already.

Can only remember bonking twice, by far the worst of which was in Cornwall during the 2003 heatwave. Hit the wall about 10 miles from the B&B and felt so bad I had to push the bike for a bit. Thankfully found a garage where I refuelled but I only felt marginally better. Felt absolutely horrible; dizzy, nauseus, hot/cold, weak, feverish, unable to think properly, etc. Spent the rest of the day recovering. May well have had some kind of heatstroke/exhaustion as well. Either way, it's not something you want to experience.

What made it worse was I dropped my Oakleys in a field (during the walking phase) and had to retrace my steps the next morning. Found them in the end.

Sounds a whole lot simpler than Windows. I know what to look for now.

    Thanks all

BTW, it's going to be an Intel even though I just want to use it to experiement with. Naturally I want to be sure I'm covered by the right license, and don't mind buying the relevant discs.

E.g. if I buy the aforementioned machine, I don't mind buying the SL discs, but will I have to buy the upgrade as well? I guess they have the right as seller to keep the license for themselves if they have a replacement running SL?

dont need one for mac os's. Just install from the disc, no serial required

Ok. So let's say one person has upgraded Tiger to SL (under family pack license), but cannot pass the SL license on because it belongs to their household, but is still looking to sell it with SL installed because they've lost the Tiger discs. How does that work out for me in terms of licenses/discs i need to buy?

    Cheers

If they agree to have at least 500 litres in there then you can always time it so your last purchase (of say 500 litres) will leave you with what you started with when you up sticks.

Is there any way of re-configuring those two keys?

Somehow managed to watch the final frame and then the '85 special. Well played Robertson (even though you're an Aussie) – Dott looked absolutely knackered. At least the '85 program made up for it – I normally can't stand Colin Murray but I think he did it justice on this occasion.

Am looking forward to seeing the '85 highlights (for a slice of nostalgia), although at this rate that's not gonna start until the early morning. Guess it's a case of attrition.

IME all very ridable unless it gets torrential for a few days or so. Drainage in most parts is pretty sound. Wolverns Lane (heading back to the Rookery) is amongst the worst when bad – all that sand and mud and water makes a right horrible mix. Apart from that, the wacky stuff at Ranmore/Abinger can be a bit hairy, and that's about it.

exploring the area from Coldharbour/Leith Hill which I only just found ….. nice to have found good riding half an hour from home !

How did I miss this for the past 10 years 'doh' !

You live 30 mins away and you've not clocked all the trailmongery that's been going on?

I've recently been suffering with some mechanical karma that's really challenging my patience. Headed out this afternoon for a 3hr ride only for my new chain to snap for the third time in two weeks. This time, I had only one spare pin/link, but even that wouldn't sit properly, so ended up walking home and going for a 3hr run instead.

Really pi55ed off with this chain and going ask for a replacement.

    I'm thinking sony viao

Having spent several years selling IT into the NHS I can categorically say I would avoid Sony at all costs – great machines when they're working, but shocking customer service when they're not. Others will probably say the opposite, but IMO they're up there with Dell in terms of obnoxious w4nkerdom.

'Is it wrong to eat while I'm taking a sh*t?'

When I shared a house with some mates at Uni, one of them used to get up before everyone else and lock himself in the bathroom. He'd then sit on the sh1tter eating a Pot Noodle and wait for it to come out the other side. Usually this would take 45 mins. Not a pleasant start to the mornings …

I've had 3 replacement frames from Spesh so far, and that includes the first being second hand.

Fantastic service all round – they're always just a (helpful) phone call away, and you can even drop in to their warehouse/HQ.

Have only bought a couple of things in there and they've been friendly enough. Haven't asked them to do any "work" though because Nirvana do a grand job 9 times out of 10.

My trick for my rats which come each year is Lace it with poisen as it goes in the hole ,that way they get a dual purpose meal , fills em n nukes Em .

So when the rat disappears off and dies (probably in agony), his body is eaten by other members of the wildlife fraternity who in turn get secondary poisoning … some of which die as a result and provide more poison for the food chain. Clever

Ok, wire wool and foam it is then.

    Warfarin

AFAIK rather a nasty way to die. Also creates a poisonous food chain.

I don't want to kill the little feckers, I just want to stop them breaking in.

    Err – use mortar?

Err, they eat through that too, hence trying to find something different.

pack the gap with wire mesh/brillo pads and expand the foam into/around that.

Excellent – hadn't thought of that. We've got loads of wire fencing so I'll roll some up and plug it with foam.

I haven't the full thread, so part of your expense is going to be determined by insulation, etc. We have pretty much none, plus olde worlde windows, etc. But the house somehow retains a lot of warmth (no real fire either) and we rarely have to use the stat above 20deg.

3 bed 16-17th century cottage here – we probably get through about 800-1100 litres/year (80% during winter). But this is for heating only because we use an the immersion for water all year round.

Check out Boilerjuice for typical costs, but also look at other regional providers because the former will sometimes be undercut by 2-3%.

37yrs old and can still drink for 10-12hrs (slight more pace dependent than 10 yrs ago though).

Can also go weeks without booze and still pretty much pick up where I left off. Not sure if that's a good thing, but at least I don't turn into an obnoxious chavvy tw4t like some people.

i am only days into the android experience but have been digging around on google maps. can anyone tell me how much data it uses up when using it? i am on vodafone, so there is a monthly usage of 500mb- i don't wanna be using it all up on google maps navigation.

I'm on voda with the same 500mb – not sure how much Google Maps uses but I never get anyway near my allowance. Judging by the cache it can be a few mb here and there, but not much.

I heard the proper version wasn't going to be released in the UK …

Either way, still waiting for 2.1 to come out on the Hero (the official version, not rooted).

Until then, will have to stick with 1.5.
