Good point Nig E5. I guess that downhill section won’t be restricted. Plus there are easy ways to get there by bike (b/ways etc).

IMO what sets England apart at the moment is their ability to step up to the plate when it matters. They win a lot of sessions; grab wickets, gets runs, apply pressure, take catches, occupy the crease, out-think the opposition captain, etc.

And they’ve been doing this a lot for 2 years or so having lost the plot after winning the Ashes in 05.

We did win the ashes recently?

But that was one series (against a distinctly average side) after previously being white-washed over there.

How well have we performed against the other ‘big’ nations on the own patch? Not so well.

or are England really just that good??

Only time will tell, but right now they are. IMO you have to consistently beat the better sides and that means winning away in place like the WI, Oz, SA and the sub-continent. Winning at home is one thing – repeating it on a 2-4 month tour is something else.

We bought a 2-3yr old Focus last year from a local dealer. Was a one-owner mobility car but nothing at all had been ‘done’ to it. The woman had simply bought it on that scheme.

Car was absolutely mint and subsequently faultless throughout our one year of ownership.

By all means dig around, but at the same time don’t expect to find something ‘bad’ etc.

These kids have no respect for anything so treating them like animals IMO is ok.

If you believe you have nothing to lose (from everyday life) then you’re more likely to not give a shit about things. i.e you have no fear of the consequences. And we all know how useless the justice system is, so it’s just going to continue full circle.

As others have said already, TZ really is shit. I mean, who’d give the name Daniel to a dog FFS?

The other one that does my head in is that pile of annoying crap set in Scotland. Tis aired around 6:00 or 6:30am and features granny ‘something’ and some really irritating singing/’performing’ types that go about their daily working lives in some kind of town that’s made virtual at certain points.

    Pitifully hilarious stuff from ilovemygears.

You must be that cockwart who recently went on about buying an Audi TT that ended up being your dad’s.

You give humans a bad name.

2 x S-Works Enduros and a carbon Stumpy here – doing just fine without a brain between them.

    Holy cow, that’s some extension!!!!

They flattened the original country pad and replaced it with a somewhat more substantial pad (complete with multi-level underground carpark with lifts, lake + waterfall and loads more). It’s a bit bonkers.

Our neighbour’s house is costing him £25m to redevelop (nearly 3 yrs and still ongoing) so I’d say there are a fair few builders/tradesmen who are doing quite well out of that. Quite a few other developments in the area too.

I’ve been trying to get some sense out of the local council but to no avail so far. There seem to be brownie points available to those that want to help make foreigners welcome and put up 4 giant screens.

Will likely be checking out the test run on 14th Aug.

IMO there are so few vantage points around that section that it’s no surprise places are limited. Tis a shame. And even though I know the place like the back of my hand, I reckon it’ll be difficult to smuggle oneself in for any length of time without being evicted.

If he’d done that to an old biddy in the street he’d have been given a caution. Yet more proof that our JS is shit.

If you would give the stuff away to a deserving couple why not this undeserving couple -makes no difference to you – you have still given the stuff away.

Nope. Makes a fair amount of difference to me.

Hmm, the idea of giving the basic essentials sounds good. Maybe stuff that covers the first couple of months or so.

Although it’s none of my business, I’d like to think the bf can be ‘encouraged’ to behave responsibly. In my book that includes providing for your family. So get a job and you can have the rest of the stuff. But don’t want to cause friction in their household, especially seeing as the cousin takes everything on because nobody else under her roof give a shit about anything.

TJ, I’d look at your example on its own merit. If they were pulling their weight (where necessary) then maybe I’d agree to give them more for free or at least cut a deal somewhere. But the fact they’re more ‘deserving’ would swing greatly in their favour.

    +1 Chrome.

FF was great until 3.5 then started messing up while becoming slow and bloated. Shame cos it’s very plugin-friendly.

    IE I can’t stand.

Damn, El-bent beat me to it!

Seriously though, I’d stick with AT. If you don’t sell by the end of the advertised period then they’ll offer you a discount on a similar or better package.

    Also try Pistonheads (tis free).

IME AT will give you the more seriously minded buyer, and IME the ‘no canvassers etc’ has actually meant I’ve not had any canvassers.

Do keep an eye on prices though. I sold our Focus on there a fortnight ago and prices went up and down literally 20% over a single month. Was a bit weird, but got a good price in the end.

So, as a lifelong Windows user, what am I likely to find most difficult

Contextual menus in things like Finder are IMO shockingly limited.

Having to learn a whole load of keyboard shortcuts.

    and what will I like?

    Everything looks pretty and shiny.

IMO, if I was a gadget, I’d shack up with W7 and start a family but I’d like a bit of foxy OSX on the side once in a while.

1 in 4 food purchases during the games is expected to be a McDonalds. A great lesson to all those kids.

fast food and sports should no go together as a model for young people which this ad as well as the whole sponsorship is directly aimed at.

    Shame on the marketing men

I take it you don’t approve of the McDonalds Olympic park ‘restaurant’ 😀

Keep at it. It will pay dividends in the end. We are going to watch the tour in a camper van for 2013. Couple of mountain stages and hopefully either time trial or the final in Paris.

Nice one. The missus even said herself that “it would be awesome to watch that … we’ll have to do it one day …” So we’ll be looking at something similar in a year or two.

Speaking of which, the ‘hilly’ section (it is after all just a zig-zaggy hill, not a mountain) of next year’s Olympic race passes 5 mins from home. Am on the volunteer shortlist but can’t get any commitment or ideas out of the organisers – so if I don’t get confirmation then we’ll just grab a spot up in the trees 🙂

To be honest I was just proud she knew all this as it has took many years of explaining and cajoling to get the wife interested in the tour.

+1 because on Sat night my missus said something like “… So one of them has won it today?”
    Me: “Kind of.”
    Her: “Which one?”
Me: “Oh, you wouldn’t know him.”
    Her: “Is it that Australian?”
    Me: “Yes.”
Her: “Evans? What’s his first name … Cairo? The one they were chasing for an interview yesterday?”
    Me: “I’m impressed … BTW it’s Cadel …”

I did the same with an Win XP laptop a while back. Check out Tech Support Forum because there’s a thread on there about downloading a certain piece of s/w that pulls out your password. Really easy to run. Should work on Vista too.

Like I said TJ, you just don’t get it. Can’t be bothered anymore. Sounds to me like you think cyclists have a right of way regardless. That’s just bollocks.
