    How old is/are yours Hora?

You know what I mean though MF.

is he a chatty ( as much as a one year old can be)?

Does he like spinning wheels or other mechanical things a lot?

Does he get upset when you change from one activity to another?

I’d say he’s a pretty chatty chap. Very sociable; sometimes like to observe (and smile a lot) and other times like to get stuck in.

Loves his trike and other wheely cool stuff. So yes, I’m hoping he gets the bike thang.

Sometimes gets upset when changing things. I guess that’s usual?

EDIT: all friends and family who’ve spent time with him say he’s perfectly normal. A really happy, playful little chap that has his grumbly moments like most children do.

    Sorry mate.

Similar thing happened here last year. Time does heal.

Just beware these threads sometimes bring out the insensitive nature in certain people. I only hope that particular breed **** off and keep their thoughts to themselves.

TurnerGuy, any of us could argue the toss on the psychology behind this sort of thing. Our aim is to encourage him to realise ‘unnecessary’ tantrums are exactly that. He doesn’t always go off and suddenly brighten up and get made a fuss of. Sometimes he just pipes down and wanders off in a more peaceful mode – which he doesn’t receive acknowledgement for.

maxray, yep, I’m with you on that. I was’t trying to be clever – just highlighting the way I try to deal with certain things.

You are naturally going to be defensive of your kid, all parents are.

Not entirely. I like to think I’m objective (coaching/sales background) enough to look at things from the other person’s perspective. Hence if he did step out of line and the evidence substantiated it then we’d have to address it.

Yep, a faulty CM is our consensus too. Pretty much what we wanted to hear.

    Cheers guys.

wwaswas, the nurseries we visited months ago were shocking (IOHO). Hence opting for what we believed to be a fantastic CM.

Have had to cast our net wider this time, but the one we found yesterday really is cool. Loads of big, light, airy open-plan spaces, plus a funky garden and lovely carers/manager. We also agree that multiple carers = more chance of resolving anything that kicks off.

I’ve somehow remained unemotional throughout this episode and just got on with getting it sorted. It’s his mum who’s taken it personally.

Warranty ran out 6 weeks ago. Have to keep him now.

This all blew up earlier this week and we’ve already found a really sorted nursery. More expensive and longer commute, but defo worth it IOO. It’s just that this whole episode has really upset the missus. Not impressed with the CM’s attitude, seeing as we all appeared to be getting on great. Bit out of the blue too.

The most polite Nirvana have been described is as a ‘marmite’ shop.

    Yep.

If that was Simons wife, Jackie, that is very odd – she seems a really nice person – also a very good wheelbuilder.

Never knew that. Maybe it was she that built my 317s back in 03, one of which is still going strong.

The flyer mentions Ranmore rather than Leith, etc.

Have just come back from an afternoon ride up on t’Downs inc some stuff at Ranmore. Wasn’t really looking but didn’t see anything obvious. Paid a visit to what we used to call Waterfall (just off the NDW) for the first time in years and it’s all tree’d up now. That was a bonkers bit of DH.

Gram wraps are a POP to make, and pretty nom nom when you get them right.

Indian: throw in some cumin seeds, caraway seeds, mustard seeds etc.
Med: throw in things like tarragon, thyme, marjoram, sage etc.

I thought mayo was frowned upon for some reason (going back to the original thread last year)? That’s what I was using then. Will happily revert back to it.

    According to “Rachel’s”:

Here at Rachel’s we are dedicated to creating gorgeously pure tastes – and our recipes don’t come much purer that this. Our natural bio-live yogurts are made simply and with care using the very best locally sourced organic milk with yogurt cultures and nothing added. Available in wholemilk, Greek style or low fat, our range of natural yogurts taste just great as they come. They also make an ideal accompaniment to your favourite fruits and cereals as well as being a deliciously versatile ingredient in both sweet and savoury recipes. All of our natural yogurts contain health-giving probiotic cultures Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium to help improve and maintain a healthy digestive system. Click on the pictures below for more product details, including where to buy.

I guess that makes it dairy …

Not sure. Ingredients are natural yogurt and biogarde cultures.

Have been making coleslaw with natural yoghurt (and wholegrain mustard) instead of mayo. Is nat yog allowed? Methinks not.

Either way, pork chop with coleslaw and a couple of fried eggs for breakfast rocks.

does any one find that if they fall off the wagon later in the day (breakfast /lunch on plan but grab some chips for dinner) they are completley wiped out for a day or two. sat here feeling like i’ve been run over. no energy levels etc.

Nope, not me. Too much booze tends to be the one thing that gets me the next morning.

Like Max says but fill with chilli instead. Healthier and less carby than relying on rice.

Sorry to hear that mate – sounds tough.

Have you or your wife checked out forums that deal with stuff like PND? Healthy Pages[/url] has some pretty helpful folk that might just be able to shed some helpful light somewhere …

Can’t help with the ‘out n about in Devon stuff’ because I’m miles away. But what I can advocate is what Joe said about going off on little outdoor adventures. Out little monkey (12 months) loves them.

I’ve also started building a secure outdoor play area so he can do his own thing in the garden, without either of us having to watch where he’s going and manoeuvre him out the way etc. We can also get on with other stuff knowing he’s safe. Has all his outdoor toys (trike/tractor/car etc) and some indoor stuff, tunnels, balls, bricks and so on. Will be creating a UV windbreak-type shelter too. He loves it. Plus it’s surprising how easy and fun it is to pass the time in there myself.

I know the feeling. This is impossibly good tennis though.

Murray must be watching, thinking “No way can I play at that level.”

Agree entirely. I know Djokovic has improved in the last couple of years but the angles/depth/power he’s generating these days is immense. Nadal on the back foot probably more than I’ve seen him. But if anyone can come back from this stage it’s him.

Do you already have a mortgage?

If not, then I’d say it’ll be pretty damn hard unless you have the deposit and (credit) history to back it up etc. A job offer IMO is worth jack shit, even more so in today’s climate.

If you do, then are you up for renewal?

Remember the internet pretty much coming to a standstill as a bunch of us updated each other mainly through texts and calls. Was very surreal. Spent much of the afternoon in a pub garden (forget the name, but near Canary Wharf) with some workmates. Remember hearing about flights being diverted away from the tower and half-expected one to just fly into it. Eventually went home to the missus who was surprisingly emotional about the whole episode and decided we should spend the evening in the local.

The car park at Swinley is an interesting place,

IMO most larger car-parks in popular biking areas are like that. Illustrates the variety of choice etc. Often the same on 15-20 people group rides where we all have different bikes/frames/forks/wheels/saddles/posts/pedals etc.

4″ carbon FS my usual choice though.

No way would I go on a road ride without a helmet. Tis your call though. But I’m taking sides with el club.

Nice one. Bikes can so easily bring out the kid (and grin factor) in all of us, especially when we learn something new.

Tis one of my goals to have a session with the man himself. Just need to get some shizzle sorted.

Lycra and baggies for me. Always has been (on the MTB anyway).

Used to be lycra only in my road days years ago, but I’ll go with L&B when I pick it back up one day too.

Anyone in the SE who wasn’t on the property ladder 10 years ago is f***ed as far as I can see. Me and my missus dream of a 3 bed!

    spacemonkey

What I don’t understand is how anyone can afford a decent sized house in the South East. £800k anyone?

There was a 3 bed terraced in our road that was recently up for £545k! There’s a shocking amount of anti-value in property these days.

I agree with Kryton – many models of BMW (and Audi and Merc) are IMO incredibly driver-oriented. Sure, not everyone’s gonna like them, but each of the ones I’ve owned or driven are considerably better ‘on the road’ than cheaper or comparative marques. Not being snobbish, just being honest. And the customer care I’ve received from all (post-purchase) has been top notch with the exception of one warranty incident that went to HQ and got resolved within days. Having said that, I think a lot of main dealers – and indies – are upping their CS game. Still plenty of cowboys about though.
