ive attached mine to the side near a leg like yours is positioned..

Ive used big bolts through the work surface and a reinforced plank with some big washers underneath the vice area..

ive also used big wingnuts on the bolts so its dead easy and quick to remove the vice if i need it out of the way for any reason!

find some decent condition second hand 100mm travel bombers z1 / z2 / xfly etc from around 2000 2001… not quite as light or quite as sensitive on small stuff as modern forks.. but they are utterly bullet proof and so easy to work on!

make sure they’re the older type with the thin metal bushings that just slide in..

youll get a set on ebay or retrobike for £60 – £70 tops if you shop around..

new seals.. oil and bushings… £50 tops for the lot.. and itll last for yeeeeeeeears!

I wear Ordinary Vans Rowley currently.. with looseish laces and some brasher 4 season merino walking socks.. keeps my cold feet warmer than most stuff..

I cover the vans in nikwax shoe water proofing stuff now and again which does quite a good job at keeping most of the water out but it obviously comes in a little through vent holes and stuff in the worst conditions..

nott really a fan of enduro fork seals..

I used them on my vanilla fork for about 6 months.. ive heard the stories about needing to let them bed in so gave them a chance longterm..

i’ve no doubt they are better at sealing the fork from dirt ingress than fox seals..

but the added friction was awful.. i found the forks where much less sensitive to small bumps and the added friction compression damping didnt feel too great either.. the fork felt dead and lifeless..

have got the new SKF fox seals fitted now and the fork feels much nicer :)

last couple of times we have been we stayed in

    the grupotel Cala San Vicente..

its in the north of the island in a really nice quiet little cove so youll have to hire a car if you stay there..

nice hotel thats mainly full of germans on package holidays.. the germans are sticklers for quality so everything is spot on! the food is a little german oriented but is still muchly nice..

and the on the beach bar / restaurant at the end of the beach does the most amazing burgers ever!

    room view..

another vote for visiting formentera.. hire a scooter and raz about the place.. its lovely!

    restaurant recomendations..

La Paloma in San Lorenzo is truly AMAZING…

and La Oliva in Eivissa town is pretty damn good too..

i used a tub of b+q value cheapy stripper to do the rear end of my heckler which has been resprayed with some AWFUL plastikote type stuff..

I had taken it to a sodablaster who did the front end that had been previously stripped and painted, but he said it would take him ages and thus cost me loads to remove the plastikote..

it was the new stuff without dichloromethane..

I had to leave it for 12 hours+ with a couple of recoats but it worked just as well as the older stuff eventually.. and was a lot nicer to use as it doesnt attack your skin as aggresively like the old stuff did!

My OH had a WTB Speed She.. and hated it..

we did the memory foam pillow / bit of foil trick and measured her sit bones and ended up ordering a charge ladle..

    which she says is brilliant!

managed to pick up a rockshox suspension seatpost pretty cheap too which has helped as well..

That’s the rye one, isn’t it? A lot of people rave about rye whiskey; personally, I thought it was absolutely grim. YMMV, might be worth a try.

no Jim Beam Rye is the yellow label…

green label is ‘jim beam choice’ bourbon thats 5 years old and charcoal filtered..

    Sazerac Rye

Jim Beam Small Batch (if you can find it!)

    jim Beam Green Label

and im a big fan of Bulleit bourbon which can be found in most supermarkets..

    the list is endless really!

cant understand people killing headsets either..

the tioga headset on my singlespeed cost a tenner.. has very little in the way of sealing.. and just uses bearings in a cage.. not even sealed cartridges..!!

bike cleaned with a hose after every muddy ride..

i clean and grease the bearings twice a year..

its 7 years old.. and still running sweet!

you cant use a vga to hdmi cable without a convertor..
    vga=analgoue
    hdmi=digital

    convertor boxes are about £70

you could try a vga to dvi cable/convertor.. but it depends if your TV will accept the VGA input through the DVI socket.

a conventional swing mech works fine on my 456..

both conventional swing (which i have) and top swing (which kieran has) will work on a 456.. but they have to be top pull..

maybe you have got a dual pull (cable can be routed to pull from above or below) mech and have routed the cable wrongly? or a bottom pull mech..?

im 13 stone and run 30 PSI in all my single ply tyres.. very rarely get punctures..

40 PSI feels like im riding with rock instead of rubber tyres..

easy way to find out is to try it! if you start getting more punctures or squiggly handling on corners…. put a few more PSI back in :)

straight after a ride.. hosepipe and water… dry it off with a rag to pick of anything i missed..

or if the muds had chance to dry i use halfords car wash in a bucket with a brush.. then hosepipe and water..

or just wait and use a toothbrush to get rid of all the dry mud (though its not had a chance to dry this year!!) then a quick going over with wd40 on a rag..

did a skydive in NZ a couple of years ago.. heres how it went for me..
flight up… nerves nerves nerves.. takes forever..

sitting on the edge.. even more nerves..

jumping out and seeing the plane fall away above..?? you… WEIRD and scary..

first few seconds of freefall.. exhilarating scream scream scream..

rest of the freefall.. windy and boring.. doesnt feel like you are falling at all i found..

    parachuts opens.. OOOFFF!!

parachuting about.. (even got to have a go at controlling it a bit!) was AMAZING!! best bit about it i think! so calm and peaceful with some quite stunning views.. floating thru the air!

    Landing.. no drama..!
