This is probably why its showing as unavailable..
British Downhill series round 5
not sure what, if any of the trails will be open if there is a race on!
spacehopperFull Membermy Float X did this..
sent it back to Mojo and they replaced a few internal parts, it was done under warranty and its been fine ever since..
I think it took a couple of days to turn around, same as a normal shock service.. I Phoned them first though before sending it in.
spacehopperFull MemberIts got Alivio Cranks….
ah well.. no bid from me then! 8)
spacehopperFull Memberid rather put a stick of celery in the cpu socket than a celeron.
they’re bottom of the line processors and rubbish.
do yourself a favour and buy something a bit better.. it’ll run much faster and two years down the line you are much less likely to throw it out of the window as it slowly, haplessly, chugs along at a snails pace.
spacehopperFull Memberthat was a brilliant proper stage of the tour…!! :D
crazy seeing the Tour big boys battling on their way up Jenkin hill like a proper Alpine Climb..
spacehopperFull Memberhad the same issue with one of my XT levers..
you can actually buy the plastic parts that sit on top of the rubber membrane.. its called the separator unit
but replacing that didnt solve my issue.. and cost the best part of £10 including shipping!
i think the membrane itself must have developed a tiny leak somewhere i couldnt see. Unfortunatley i didn’t find the actual membrane anywhere for sale as its not listed as a separate part on the brake lever diagram..
you could try a bit of liquid gasket or similar around the edge of the membrane..
or do what i and most other people end up doing due to the lack of spares and just buy a new lever.. they’re only £23.49 from CRC
spacehopperFull Memberhad a weird noise in my missus’s saxo.. thought it was the gearbox..
turned out the rear exhaust mount just under the engine had sheared thru and as a result it made odd noises when lifting off etc.. took ages to find.. but removed the broken mount and its been fine ever since..
also.. the ‘rubber ball’ part of the gear linkages can wear meaning much sloppiness in the gear selection..
number 5 in this diagram..
the ball and socket joints in the linkages labelled 2 and 3 also wear and cause issues..
another thing to look at could be the gearbox roll pin (google it) that causes loads of sloppiness in the linkage.. (and is less than a quid to replace)
as said above drain and check if its got gearbox oil in… and if theres any metal floating about in it when you drain it..
spacehopperFull Memberdeore brake..
make an adjuster out of a bit of cut off aluminium and the right size allen key.. epoxy onto the adjuster.. job done :)
I think they’re pretty much as powerful as the XT on my other bike.. They just don’t feel quite as well made.. and the split pin is a bit more fiddly to use than the allen bolt on the XT caliper. there isnt much in it though.. :)
spacehopperFull MemberIve got a barely used Weber Q200 for sale including a gas bottle if anyone’s interested?
Based in Leeds..
spacehopperFull MemberCafe Del Mar + MoJito + Sunset
not a fan of anything else in San Antonio..!
Ibiza town.. head up into the old town late on.. we have eaten at La Oliva and El Ventana and really enjoyed both..
as above Cala D’Hort.. the fish restaurant on the cliffs is called es boldado.. and is good!
Our Fave place to eat on the island though so far is La Paloma in San Lorenzo.. its a bit out of the way but well worth a visit..
the Jockey club on the Salines beach is also good food..
spacehopperFull Memberi’ve also done the same with a set of XT cranks.. (m760)
they where correctly torqued..
I rode them off a maybe 3 foot drop to a transition.. and on landing the pedal was at a 30 degree angle and the thread’s had stripped!
ive always been a bit of a crank breaker for some reason despite not being that crazy a rider..
but i replaced them with some SLX and they have been utterly faultless for a good few years now..
i also have some raceface Evolve XC on two other bikes which have also been faultless!
spacehopperFull Memberit does look good though! :)
its just me and the missus going over for a few days of bimbling and pintxos..
(I BasqueMTB’d last year and want to show her how amazing San Sebastien is!)
spacehopperFull Memberregistering interest too!
i’m also going to bilbao / san sebastien in september… pintxos pintxos pintxos!
does anyone have any hotel recommendations (that wont break the bank) in san sebastien?
spacehopperFull MemberAvid discs working fine for me in both Deore and XT brakes..
North Shore Billet make/made a post to post 185mm adapter..
spacehopperFull Memberthat was brilliant :)
I wanna go bikepacking even more now!
spacehopperFull MemberDont think so Hora…!!
i was hopped up on painkiller though so who knows..!
i was hobbling about with a leki walking pole wearing a blue t-shirt (i think) after having an operation on my feet a few weeks ago…
spacehopperFull Membertools + dropper post?
i use one of these..
its got all my tools.. some park patches, a c02 cartridge and a micro pump in it..
and it doesn’t clamp to the seat post so no issues with the dropper and it doesnt flap about either!
spacehopperFull Memberyup.. i wouldn’t buy a frame that didn’t have them!
bottle in bottle cage.. tools in under seat pouch..
only wear a rucksack on long day rides where i need to take food and more/spare layers of clothing
spacehopperFull Memberyeah the spacing for the shifters is for shimano stuff at least.. Ive never had any issues running 8 speed shifters with 7 speed cassette.
for the change to 7 to 8 speed they just widened the freehub and popped an extra cog in..
everything since has just made everything thinner in the same space as an 8 speed cassette.
spacehopperFull Memberamazing place is Skye..
things to add to the list..
Macleods maidens..
we walked and wild camped at the end near the maidens.. but it looked like a fun ride too and i was highly jealous of all the bikers we saw!Angus Macaskill giant museum..
Coral Beaches near Dunvegan..
old school restaurant in Dunvegan..
Sea Eagle watching from Portree..spacehopperFull Memberfor the airport and walk down to cathedral cove i just held the camera in my hand and held it close to my chest..
didnt want to look stoopid and airport security alerting wearing a chesty strap setup..
it was set to take a photo every second.. and in the film that ran at 12 or 15 FPS (i forget which..)
doing it again.. id probably use a photo every 0.5 seconds.. and then 24 or 30 FPS in the editor so it ran a bit smoother in the finished video.. though that would use loads more space on the memory card..
spacehopperFull MemberIt was mostly shot using a GoPro 3+ at 1080p and 50 frames per second..
the ‘onboard’ paragliding stuff was shot using the instructors Hero 3 Silver edition… and to be honest i cant actually see that much difference between the two cameras..!
Last time we visited for my partners brothers wedding in 2009 we even tripled up on the luging! at the now closed Auckland luge site.. she is a bit addicted to Luge!
we where there for three weeks and i didnt actually shoot that much stuff to be honest.. looking back there was quite a lot of more incidental family stuff i wish i had filmed that i didnt..
the beauty of the small camera is most of the time you can just either attach it to yourself or your equipment and forget about it.. its also easy to just stash in a pocket (or an understanding partners handbag!) with a gorillapod tripod attached and then whip out when needed..
the main thing I learnt was you probably only need to shoot a couple of minutes at the very most of anything you do, with maybe a couple of angles and that will then translate into a decent ten seconds or so in the final edit.. which is more than enough.
And to just try and shoot from the hip so to speak as you do stuff, rather than set it all up as it just looks more natural and also takes less time and doesnt get in the way of actually enjoying what you are doing!
and then in the final edit keep everything short and snappy to keep people interested.. looking at other examples of similar videos though this first attempt is probably too long at 9 minutes.
spacehopperFull Memberim loving the playlister too..
so cool being able to go back to a show and be able to listen to the little previews of songs in the track listings..
not fully explored the adding to playlister bit yet though..
spacehopperFull Memberthank you all for the nice comments :)
skills improvements come via Great Rock and BasqueMTB…
Tunes in order of play..
Santogold – Lights out
The War on Drugs – Red eyes
Junip (Jose Gonzalez’s band) – Far Away
The Raveonettes – Heart of StonespacehopperFull Membernone.. :(
and the weather has been lovely these past few days..!
stuck off the bike until the 12th of may with metal pins in my little toes..
im probably going to miss all of the bluebells this year!
spacehopperFull Memberi used b and q paint stripper on the rear end of old heckler, which had some god awful and really hard to remove plastikote type stuff on it..
I had the rest of the frame sodablasted.. but it was going to take too long and thus cost megabucks to remove the plastikote stuff..
Ive since used the BnQstripper on quite a few other things too. It just takes longer to be effective.. i left it on for about 24 hours and kept reapplying / agitating it where needed and it came off just as well as the old nitromors eventually.
and as a bonus.. didnt stink and destroy anything else it touched like the old style stuff..
spacehopperFull Memberi used a similar method to the above..
keeping all the biggest numbers on the bottom row.. and the biggest number always in the bottom left corner and adding towards that..
so if you have a 1024 tile in the bottom left.. the next along will aim to be a 512.. then aim to build another 512 next to that by building 2 256’s it really helps keep free space to keep it sequential like that..
and then never pressing the up key.. press the up key even once and its game over pretty much. (though i did use it right at the end)
in my system it also helps majorly to keep the bottom row full at ALL times.. this helps keep the big number in the bottom left..
its especially tricky to get rid of a number when you’ve got say a 512 or 1024 tile in there as it uses up a valuable free space from the rest of the board And it makes the row above essentially become your ‘bottom adding row’ losing you even more space.
and if all that made any sense… :D 8O
spacehopperFull Memberfinally managed it earlier on…! :D
its reasonably easy (yet still highly frustrating and easy to make mistakes…) once you get the trick to doing it..
my brain is now a mush.
spacehopperFull MemberIts the fuel.
I’ve dropped back to the normal fuel a couple of times to test and the results always the same..
i always fill up with a full tank from running on completley empty.. and then did three tanks full in a row of the normal shell.
normal shell 42 mpg ish
V-Power 46mpg ishspacehopperFull Membernot diesel.. but i use shell V-Power unleaded in my car.. 1.6 Citroen Saxo..
noticed absolutely no difference in performance..
but the average MPG jumped from 42 to 46..! this is compared to normal shell petrol.. supermarket stuff was lower than 42..
It worked out at quite a bit of a saving in total fuel costs over the year :)
spacehopperFull Memberusually a mankini as above…
but when its cold.. i usually wear some just above the knee length shorts i got from gap… and whatever tshirt is at the top of the drawer..
just wear whatever you want.. normal gym clothing is fine.. just make sure you can move around in it very easily..
I’ve seen people in full on tracksuits.. down to.. (i kid you not) a bloke that turns up occasionally doing it in what appears to be his hot pant style pants and vest..
