might work… but they are designed around the P7 LED’s which i think are bigger in size than an XPG so it might not work…?

they have Reginas in stock at farnells in the UK ive just seen if anyone needs any..! Farnell link to Regina optics

gunna sort an order from cutter soon i think and get a few things to tinker with from there but the optic choice is a bit bewildering!

ordered a few things from there and had excellent service..

very helpful on the phone too, even going so far as to point me in the direction of another shop to get the item i was after that they didnt have! :)

managed to get my new driver fitted last night (cheers blackcattech :D)

and took the triple for a spin.. only down an unlit country road but pretty impressed with the output..!! seems slightly more light than my old 20Watt philips Masterline halogen light.. but with a much colder bluer colour..

slightly ‘spotty’ beam though and am thinking of using a different optic on the middle LED to give a bit more flood close to the bike.. (and keeping a regina either side to keep the spot)

what optic would anyone reccomend for this purpose?

annoys me not being immensly not being able to test the washer jets without the wipers making the whole salty mess ten times worse when they are frozen..

the reason they do this i would guess would be so that you cant obscure your vision with water/screenwash and then crash and sue the car manufacturer…

managed to trace my problem to a faulty cell in my battery.. it gave 15 volts with no load but with any sort of load it reduced to around 8…! took it apart and found the offending cell looking a bit sorry for itself with a little scorch mark..

i think i shorted the battery during the original testing phase and popped it!

working fine now.. :P

or at least it was till i tried to rewire everything more neatly and managed to knock one of the solder pads off the driver.. :roll: hey ho.. new driver it is then!

this post makes me sound like a real disaster area! 8)

hmmmm.. now the dim mode isn’t working at all… even with a fully charged battery..

worked the first time i turned it on after the recharge but now it just stays on full power.. in either switch poition

:( the wiring looks fine and ive even tried it with the other resistor with no joy..

has the driver board died? :/

built myself a triple..

and using a 14.4v battery i built from 12 AA batteries.. gives about 15 volts when fully charged.. did a run test and it ran perfectly for about an hour and 20 minutes..

then dimmed significantly… and the dim mode switch didnt make any difference to the light output.. checked the battery and it was giving about 13.2 volts… im guessing this is too low for three LED’s ?

it kept running for another hour or so though..

would i be better off running with 2 LED’s with this battery?

or would the nimh batteries smudge supplies keep their voltages high enough to give decent run times with three LED’s?

thought he was great on mock the week..

but that was utterly dire.. worst thing i’ve ever seen on TV.

I take it you’ve tried extreme then? Lol

Inbred 456 needs gear cables and gears setting up… will sort them out tonight though with some help from iplayered radcliffe and maconie.. :)

singlespeed is halfway through getting gears put on it for the first time in about 5 years.. for a trans penine trail epic next week.. and has no fork either as we are trialing a higher front end on my G/F's bike this weekend..

commencal meta 5 has no wheels / rear derailleur cos theyve gone on the singlespeed..!

oh and the RTS frame is sitting on a shelf feeling unloved after being stripped down and built into the 456… :wink:

i marinade mine in coca cola (yes it really does work!) for 20 mins or so the coke softens and tenderises the meat and adds a little bit of sweetness to the flavour..

and then cook in butter in a VERY VERY hot griddle pan until its done to my liking..! then leave it to rest for about the same amount of time..

bung some butter with some mixed herbs and garlic in the microwave till its melted.. mix up.. pour on.. nom nom nom!

serve with big fat chips and and ratatouille made from veg from the garden :D

just got myself a vango tempest 200 too.. not camped in it yet.. its getting its first outing next weekend! very impressed so far tho..!

whereabouts does anyone go on their weekend adventures? do you use campsites or wild camp?

also.. anyone got any route reccomendations…? i fancy an adventure!
