Sorry, I’ve just read your original post again. Probably a little over budget but if you can find a fender pro junior second hand they are great sounding amps (just a volume and tone control, no endless twiddling!).

I’ve had the Orange crush 12 which I thought was great, even more so given the price, there is a Crush 20 too with a slightly bigger speaker and built in reverb/tuner. I know it won’t match the versatility of a digital modeller amp but if you want a good sounding amp with nice cleans and great overdrive then they are well worth a look.

What’s equally as surprising is the price of his new signature firebird, £769 for an epiphone!😲

Wow, cheers for such a indepth reply mate. They sound like what I’m after, I know what you mean about price but luckily I’ve found some in the sales and they have them in clown sizes too! I’m gonna go and try a pair this week, probably against a pair of shimano ones as they were my next choice(mw81’s).
    Thanks again for your help.

This is a cool thread! I’m liking fiction or truth? By Castles at the moment. That Elder album is great, they remind me of Baroness a bit…which is a very good thing:)

I asked this in Merlin the other day and was quoted around £170, dependant on spokes and rims obviously( I was after mavic 719’s).

    Hi,
Healey Nab is OK, I tag it into a longer ride usually though. Healey Nab/Rivington/Tockholes is my usual loop from home. You would probably have to drive over from Charnock Richard though as it is the other side of Chorley to the hills.

I’ve recently bought a pair of Funkier 17 panel bibs from Merlin and they are very comfy…for me. Saying that they are my first pair of bibs. Nice and cheap though 😀

I don’t think so as the post was a cheap second hand pick up off here and is pretty worn at the contact points. I’ve used tape in the past but of late its slipping like mad. The saddle is pretty new and the rails are in good nick.

Ah, should have said in my post, it’s the clinch bolt that is worn. The saddle slips back but the post stays put.

thanks for that, I live down the road from Merlin so I could get a reverb for a good price. Are they easy enough to fit?

Been smoke free for two years and can’t understand why I ever smoked. To be honest it was prompted by a death in the family but I’m glad that It managed to make me see sense( just have to try hard not to be “that arsehole reformed smoker” when out with friends). Give em away as said above, you’ll never struggle to find someone who wants them.

Another vote for guild, I bought one of the newer Chinese ones and it sounds beautiful. I think I paid £500 for it but I have compared it against guitars my friends own( Baden, lowden,Taylor etc.) and I don’t think I could ever justify paying the difference.

I like mine, nice fit(had to go up a size though). They are my first pair of spd shoes mind so I’m no expert. Got mine from Merlin too, great shop.

There is a nice walk around stocks reservoir, I can’t remember how long it is but it should give you plenty of time for a good loop of the trails.

The solo on I could have lied by the RHCP is a belter too. Oh and mean streets by Van Halen:)

I know you said best of the best but clapton’s solo on crossroads is awesome. Also maggot brain by funkadelic, only for the first two or three minutes mind.

Thanks Iain, that’s what I was thinking. I know that anything I do upgrade will go onto my next bike (already fancy a steel frame but that’s a different story!), so it’s just a case of working out what upgrades to make. Any ideas wheelset/fork wise? I’m local to Merlin cycles and I’ve already started to have mooch on the website but first hand experience is always a bonus.
