I’d definitely go for another STW ride to Swinley as well.

I would suggest the best one you can afford. You also want to check out the difference between the ATi and NVidia graphics cards, as Adobe Premiere (for example) can use CUDA acceleration on NVidia cards but as yet I haven’t come across an ATi equivalent.

Actually, I’d love a recommendation for West/Central London as well if anyone knows anywhere that’s not just a Cycle Surgery or Evans that can be trusted with my pride and joy(s).

I’ve got Hopes (Tech X2s) on the commuter and the MTB, and since changing the pads on the commuter (and doing the brake pull trick) they’ve been squealing like a bastard. I’ll break out the allen keys and do it by eye.

On the other hand, I’ve never had a problem with power, and they feel so much nicer than the Juicy 5s that they replaced on the mtb.

im guessing you did the old – squeeze the lever , tighten the bolts to fit the caliper am i right ?

Serious question, how should I be aligning them then?

Our tenancy agreement specifically forbids pets (Housing Association Shared Ownership flat in West London), so you might well find it limits your rental options. I also personally think that it would be unfair on the dog, and wouldn’t consider getting one until I’ve moved out of London.

i just do my tyres to 140psi and let them deflate over a few weeks.

I do the same with my GP 4 seasons, except I start at 120 (the max stated on the tyre). I’m also even more slack about pumping them up over winter for more grip.

Hmm, shelves are something I hadn’t considered, but actually really like the idea of.

The two LEDs on the logic board marked ‘CPU A Fail’ and ‘CPU B Fail’ now light up when I turn it on. Also the fans go full blast, and it doesn’t even get as far as the chime.

It’s 2006 vintage so I don’t really think it owes me anything.

I don’t really need another computer, and I fear the fish tank idea is about as practical as my first thought of using it as a space helmet.

Could get some glass to put on top of it and use it as a coffee table…

If you want something that could stand a chance of not looking stupid near your tv then maybe something like a Shuttle PC?

I had a great time, though I doubt I could find my way back to all those awesome trails. Maybe I’ll get better at it next year.

Cheers everyone for the company, guiding, organisation and biscuits.

Excellent. This will be an awesome opportunity to actually find some of those trails at Swinley I’ve heard so much about yet never managed to ride…

Red Dead Redemption is easily the best story I’ve played on the Xbox 360, and I might go so far as to say best single player game full stop. Batman Arkham City is fantastic as well.

For shooters, Battlefield 3 floats my boat in so many ways. If you’ve got friends to play with, Borderlands 2 is also pretty ace.

Now Disney owns Star Wars the chances of seeing Muppets in VIIGeorge being allowed to muck it up have vastly increaseddecreased.

Disney are the people who put Joss Whedon in charge of The Avengers (which was brilliant) so I’m actually vaguely hopeful that the new Star Wars movies won’t suck horribly.

On my mac, it’s mostly a frustration with iphoto, but also just in general how it deals with files (e.g. right click, send to – this only appeared recently).

From my experience with iPhoto, it just absorbs all your photos into some hidden folder within the app itself, and doesn’t tell you where they are or how to get at them. I hated it. Lightroom is much better I think. The rest of the file management I find pretty straightforward though (obviously IMHO YMMV etc.)…

I use all Windows, OS X and Linux at work and the thing I miss most about OS X on the other systems is the column finder view.

Just as a matter of interest, what about the file management do you dislike?

I use Domain Monster for my domains, and they’ve been great for me. So good I can safely ignore them etc.

Personally I’d avoid GoDaddy as well.

I’m typing this from memory so I apologise if it’s not 100% accurate, and I’ve used it to convert file formats inside iTunes to something actually useful before. Somewhere in the iTunes settings there’s the option to set the file format that you wish to import CDs as. Change that to AIFF/MP3/not AAC. Then try right clicking on the audiobook in question and select ‘convert to AIFF’.

    I think.

I’ve got a print subscription, though it normally takes me a couple of weeks to get through it all once it drops through the letterbox, unless I’ve got a massive train journey up north to survive or something.

I like the writing and I especially like the photography. MBR/MBUK photos just wind me up, with all their flash photography of riders shredding the gnar off everything in sight. That’s just not how I ride, and it’s not what mountain biking means to me. ST is a lot closer for me.

The forum is also great when I’m bored, I do tend to lurk a lot.

I really enjoyed it actually. I like the way they’ve set up the new M with the ‘old’ style office with Moneypenny outside etc., so now a couple of films after the reboot they’ve kind of come full circle.

I also thought the enquiry shootout was glorious.

Yeah you know what, I really liked it. When Bond gets mad after they blow up the Aston, I thought it was awesome.

Absolutely. I have zero interest in motorbikes, or the racing thereof, but I was glued to my seat when I watched that.

Definitely breaking out the 4oD when I get home tonight…

Forgotten the name of the company but it was on Shaftsbury Ave central London, one of the well known names like optical express…

It is Optical Express I think, my girlfriend had her eyes done there. The difference was like night and day apparently, no complications either. It was a few hours of not really being able to keep her eyes open, but the next day she was fine. 20/20 vision now.

My housemates and I watched The Descent when we were at uni. Once the film was done one of them went down into the basement (where we kept the bikes) for some reason, so obviously we turned the lights off and did our best impression of that noise the creepy underground creatures made. He came flying up the stairs and out of the door like a rocket.

6 miles each way in London, from Acton/Chiswick area to Soho. Been doing it on the mtb for the past couple of months, which feels like very hard work but finally today I get to pick up my commuter machine from having its hub gear serviced (insert rant about SRAM’s servicing ability here).

Takes me about 25 minutes generally, traffic dependent.

    Cheers guys :)

No Soul for me I’m afraid, I’ve just spent my spare bike money on some shiny new Hope brakes for the P7 (CRC blatantly clearing out their 2012 stock, but saved me near £100 for the pair!). Supposed to be saving up for a wedding…
