You should have got your Lift Pass before December 12th that way you could have got a 20% discount!

Just got back from there, I would cross your fingers for more snow, as its a bit thin on the ground at the minute, High up its ok, and over in Les Crossets its alright.

The frame and bearings are hard as nails with no issues whatsoever
The shock has taken 3 years of abuse up here (inc a few weeks in Canada and a trip to Spain recently) but all the damping is shot now so it will be away to Mojo in the new year.

As far as bits go I have it built fairly tough – the drive train wears out at normal rates (Rear mechs over the last 18 months have fallen to bits?? but have seem ok more recently)

3 years of hard abuse and the frame is going strong and will continue to last longer than anything I hang on to it.

I like the hub, ok its expensive but so are most cafes in the hills these days.
On the odd occasion I visit Glentress every year I will continue using the hub while it is open, and once it passes I will probably use the new one for a post ride coffee and cake – I will however go in there covered head to foot in mud, just to remind them of why this place is popular.

I have been like that in the Hub and have never been moaned at.

It is sad, those ladies have done so much for the trail centre, that they did not get the tender.

Mayrhofen(Zillertal valley and Hintertux Galcier) or the Ski Welt (Soll, Hopfgarten, Ellmau, Westerdorf)

Both in Austria.. the food and beer price is not ridiculus similar to the UK.

alternate is Niederau, 5 min taxi ride from Ski Welt do 2 days in Niederau/Auffach) then catch a taxi(20euros for 5 of us) to Hopfgarten for rest of week (If you go with Inghams do a bus on Thursday/Friday)
Niederau is steep on the reds and blacks.. but it is small. Auffach bigger and fun.. but average.
Ski Welt area is MASSIVE. I love boarding over there.

    While people are at it

Ok this looks a lot different now. many different parts are on there now, and she has a grimier quality to her. But still rides great.

My pal tried this and a Blur LT back to back.. and prefered the 5.. and he really wanted a Blur LT.

    I bought mine in 2000
it was brilliant then at the end of 2007 one drop too many (of ok it was a silly bog drop where I over cooked it and landed flat rather than on the slope) killed her.(crack across the frame where the shock mount is attached)

Shucks.. Orange were great they had a look at it and said I could have a new frame with discount – it was well outside warranty and well abused.
Thank you Orange ( I have pictures somewhere…. if only I could be bothered to find them!)

    its about Personal Freedom,

in the same way as I do not have to vote, I can roam this nation without ID of any kind. If the authorities want to prove who I am its down to them.

I use nickwax Tech wash… (its a cleaner not a waterproofer)

then follow the instructions on my PACE jacket and warm iron it to reactivate the water proofing..

seems to have worked so far.. still water proof still breathable.

how have you got it built up? lightweight XC or burly Trail monster?

Mostly because, as Cougar mentioned, mentioned
people have Wifi search turned on, Bluetooth turned on, GPS turned on when they are at their destination, probably played some silly game at lunch or in the loo.

the Wifi and Bluetooth are real battery killers as they are constantly searching for a connection (well Wifi is until you get a connection then its fine, unless you leave it searching for other connections)

I should really say the Raleigh Activator that my grandma bought for my, God Rest her soul,
I was 17 years old, it was too big for me, the forks were a pogo stick doubled up, the tyres were awful..

but I loved it and ragged it into the ground. that is 18 years ago… now I feel old.
my bike before that was the Raleigh Maverick, but that had a slack head angle a stubby stem and riser bars (circa 1987) now that was an awesome Hi-tensile steel bike.
and it had worse than awful tyres on it.

    Orange 5 ’08
    Lyrik Coil (u-turn) up front
wheels hope Pro II with mavic EN321 rims high roller tyres
componentry Shimano XT/SLX with a Race Face Crankset 2 ring setup 36/22
rest of components are tough and as light as I think I can get away with when riding it hard.

its a great bike, and a feww minor changes (lighter 140mm air forks and light wheels/tyres turns it into an XC race bike)

in burly guise she has been to Canada and Spain and more importantly been ridden really hard all over Scotland.

I kept passing Marie through the night, she was just plugging on..

and while the rest of us were wrapped up warm in base layers and windproffs she was in a lycra SHORT Sleeved cycle jersey.
    Big Respect to the lady.

My pal has the Desire (not the HD) and uses it running and biking

for running he has an arm bag/strap thingy that seems to work well

for biking he has a clear and robust waterproof case for it. then wraps a jacket round it in his bag.

he uses http://www.endomondo.com/ to track all his activities
(I use it as well, but on my old nokia)
I am planning to get a Desire in a couple of months and use it for bike/running.

Dont go earlier than 08, thats when they went from a good bike to a great bike.

I have an 08 and like P-Jazz am running 160mm Lyriks up front and love it!

though I just raced Relentless on it, I put some 140mm Rev Airs up front and some light wheels/tyres and averaged quicker than both my team mates on their lightweight XC hardtails (we are all about the same fitness level)
I set it up the same for the Tour De Ben last month and it was a great XC bike, that can still cope with it rough and techy

however the best set up is AM wheels and big forks .. its a mini DH bike that will climb back up.

My mum’s is knackered as well (underactive) she pushed on through for a couple of years – eventually went to docs..
for 10 or so years has been fine on the drugs..
some issue or other we (rest of family) noticed something wrong – ie mum being sluggish – and that is not her.
Straight to the docs.. they worked out the issue, drugs not working – doubled the dose – mum is fine again.
am not a medical or pharmaceutical expert so cant comment on how good or bad for her doubling the thyroxine dose is but she drinks and smokes and mainly enjoys life, and feels far better with this new dose!

I am glad that this discuccion has finally woken up.
I will be honest, I hadnt realised that it was going to cost £45 I should have really looked at all the details.
I was there at the last one and it was interesting, however what has been said above there wasnt a lot that seemed to come out of the whole thing.

From what I understand chatting to a few people the FC are looking to use this as a way to reduce their involvement in MTBing whereever possible.

They are currently looking for other partners to take on the care and maintenance of the trails, in addition to all the liability, even though it is their land.

I do like ditch jockey’s critical mass idea- I wonder how that would go down with the establishments.
