The hub has been part of Glentress trails from very early on.. Emma and Tracey did so much to promote the trails yet they have now been pushed aside

here in the North the FC is trying to close trails
I am not asking for them for free.. I have no issues with parking – but it seems the FC mindset and attitude toward biking has drastically changed in the last few years.

I wont use the Peel centre full stop.
I feel the FC are making dreadful decisions with reagard MTBing at the moment following 10 years of being MTB proactive and looking to the right people – I now feel they are after the buck.. and would rather we all rode the fireroads and no more.

    had a number of em..
    and they worked..

these days mechs are supposed to have better tension (if you believe all the bollox adverting) so they are not needed..

    personally am not convinced

I have a DH bike, its brilliant
I only ‘race’ it at the No Fuss Enduro DH
The rest of the time it sits in the shed – well thats a lie it comes out about 10-12 times a year over to Fort Bill or on the DH tracks around me – its a total riot..

well worth having in the shed for a day out playing with your mates.
something I havent done enough of this year.

DH Racing – in the North of England I felt it went serious in 2000 then totally up its own arse a few years afterwards..
Last DH race I did was ’01 I couldnt be bothered after that.
as far as XC racing goes I found it mellowed somewhat in 2k… not really XC raced since just Enduros (10/12/24 hr races) which are more fun (IMHO)

if you look at the web address on the bbc sports page, cycling is listed under ‘other sports’

    Not on mine it’s not.
    [/quote]

it does appear as a sport in the side bar.
but click on your own link and as the above poster said – read the web address 😉

I can ride an MTB pretty quick (not as quick as some)
and I beat all my mates on sprints on the road bike..

and I have never ridden with a pro ..
therefore I am totally qualified to talk b****x

I am RAF aircrew, I have spent a couple of years of my life living in Dusty shitholes.. breaking down at inopportune times..
its a pain in the arse..

I’d rather be flying than sat living it up – in my tent in Basra or the Tenco blocks in Cyprus.. or a hotel (this has only happened once in Lajes, the Azores – and there was no Mil accom available)

the lad with the back injury I saw happen!

it was a proper acrobatic flip over the bars.. am glad he is ok..
he had the stuffing knocked right out of him, with some serious whimpering going on.
I knew he was hurt and just shouted for the medics!

had a great time – first solo attempt – 8 laps – inexperience was telling – I should have managed 9 really. but spent too long in the pits, and also eased off too much laps 3 to 6…
    there is always next year!

Endo comes in 2 levels the standard Free has most things you need.
the pay version is about £2.50 and has a few fancy extras
both on your phone and online.

I dont know whether its actually the best – but for ease of use and letting mates see your routes or challenging your mates to different things
Endomondo stands head and shoulders above the others.

Jumping in crosswinds I learnt/ed that lesson about 20 year ago…

then did it again on a BMX track(with MTB) about 5 years later just to remind myself how stupid an idea it was – with serious bleeding consequences

Thanks for the Info on the Hautes area..
Am hoping there will be a decent Touriste info place with maps/routes etc.
Showing some huge and horrible climbs with lovely sweet decents to follow!

It was my Lady’s first big MTB race and she loved it
4 laps solo before she ran out of dry clothes to change into
The lower section of mud she found easy to ride through

she is now looking forward to Kirro or Llandegla

    Loved the event..

wish I had checked the bike more thoroughly..
Replaced the chain and casette and took the bike for a wee spin the day before seemed ok.

found once I got hard on the pedals that the chainring was worn and it jumped about a lot.

still overtook people on their DH bikes on the steeper stuff on my 5.. just wish I could have pedalled

once I had decrypted what you meant – £430 is a lot of bluddy money when most others are around £300 or under

is it really worth the extra £130??

with a helmet strapped correctly and the retention system tight there is damn near no movement

    even swinging on it..

    Jezza

legend the helmet will rotate around your head until the chinbar hits your face given a seizable impact.

You head will be moving away from the rest of the helmet so it offersno support

    That is utter Pish
Giro, Met, Specialized and many others have been building full facers and the switchblade type for many years.. the head is locked into the upper helmet.by retention systems.
it all works as a package.. the chin guard is designed to deflect mainly and partly transfer force into the main helmet.

Cycle Wild is excellent, Jules used to work at Glenmore Lodge National outdoor sports centre.
And I did my TCL/MBL with him a few years ago.

Devs and a few other mates have been on a course with him this weekend.
So you may get a more updated view on Cycle Wild.

He did come local to the Moray area for the course. so he isnt tied exclusively to the Aviemore area, though I am not sure how far he is willing to travel.

You do switch the Pro pedal on dont you?

for roads I have it on 3 ..
    fireroads and in general 2..
    uppy downy singletrack 1..

    blasting down – off..

I run Maxxis High Roller 2.35 60a Folding.. not fastest rolling tyre but they do alright. I have Lyrics (coil) up front (with wind down)
for racing it I have a light set of wheels and Conti Race King Black Chili plus some 140mm Rev airs..
turns it into a pretty damn quick XC bike that can still cope with really rough stuff.
Did me proud on the Tour de Ben Nevis last year.
