Having had to get up early today to speak to HR on this they’ve informed me that they are at a loss what to do.

They’ve had doctors reports on his mental health (apparently he is fine) and have even had a priest in to conduct an exorcism on the site but to no avail.

I’ve only recently started working nights but apparently this chap regularly has to leave early because of a ghost that floats around the DC.

Thats right, a man in his 50’s swears blind that a ghost of a signalman throws equipment at him and sometimes sneaks up behind him when he is picking and asks him to “help meeeeeee…” in a ghostly howl.

Well ‘he’ is in his 50’s and works in a distribution centre.

‘He’ is also apparently quite into spiritualism.

Well Smee was in the right area due to aliens being something that folk may believe exist too.

None close so far, though Smee is sort of in the right area.

    ….Then she became a famous racist….

Racist? She’d probably struggle to spell the word let alone be one.

She is a simple bivalve, a manner with which to produce CO2 from otherwise perfectly good air.

Racist? Yes I’m sure you are right. Its how the Nazis started you know, calling people ‘popadom’.

    Indeed.
For some its not about performance, its about what is written on it.

…..if you want a part NOW, go to your LBS…..

And be told “we haven’t got any of those, there isn’t much call for them, but I can order one but we only place orders every second Thursday and you’ve just missed our order day so if the importer has the part we won’t be able to get it for a fortnight”?

There’s some people who can’t resist the opportunity to grandstand, or never let a bandwagon pass by without trying to jump on it.

No less than those who like to jump on the “I’m ethical but don’t like to talk about it” bandwagon.

How is that horse? Comfortable? Its certainly high.

Well at least Howies make some of their stuff in nice Chinese factories.

Perhaps SSS, or perhaps I’m just laying some groundwork for what may follow.

Thats just such a niche way of selling a bike. Perhaps it’ll be this years trend.

The reviews I’ve seen in 2 mags give SS BB bearings a poor rating. Very short life.

Thats odd as they always seem to get very good reviews from actual users on here.

    Why bother with fitting bearings.

Get some replacement cups from Superstar Components, I’ve heard loads of great things about them.

    £19.95, cheap as chips.

…i guess i meant that those who see the ethical stance as being purely a marketing tool…

Even if Howies was set up to be an ethical company the fact that they make a great deal of effort to advertise the fact they are ‘ethical'(including sending out large catalogues of a dubious ethical nature when the information they contain is freely available via the internet) means that their ethics is primarily being used for marketing.

A bit like folk who give to charity and advertise the fact to show what great people they are.

….and the ethics (or the marketing….

If a company that is in business to make money tries to portray itself as being ‘ethical’ then ethics/marketing are one and the same thing.

Some people buy stuff from Howies based purely on their ethics, therefore their ‘ethics’ have worked as a marketing tool.

There is nothing cynical about thinking this at all, its fact.

I work for M&S. ‘Plan A’ is a marketing tool, pure and simple.

If Thatcher made mistakes then why did Tone carry on in a similar vein?

Because New Labour had no useable policies of their own when elected, just a manifesto full of sound bites.

As it was the work of the John Major government had put in place the groundwork for an economic boom which if left to come to fruition with little interference would have provided a large amount of income for the UK. Unfortunately newly elected governments have to ‘do’ something, which in this instance meant f@ck up years of careful financial planning nearly overnight by tinkering with forces their years in the political wilderness didn’t prepare them for, throw good money after bad in the public sector creating non-jobs and targets to meet and generally pour money down the drain.

And if our economy had still been built on the pre-thatcher model what sort of state do you think the country would be in?

We’d have been dead in the water long ago.

Probably as much a poor man of Europe as Eire was back in the 80’s.

IWH – Perhaps the QR manufacturer doesn’t have as deep pockets as Fox or as large a market share and image to protect. Even though I believe user error was the cause Fox couldn’t really have risked a wrongful judgement and therefore an out of court settlement was always on the cards and no doubt Pinder was counting on this.

You mean the Keith Vaz who accused the British Army of planting the IRA bomb that blew up Leicester Army Careers Office?

If you were any good a riding a bike you’d have hopped up on to the bonnet, pulled a super sweet manual across the top of the car then pulled a slick as 180 nose tap drop off, roll-back reversal then rolled away.

You’ve got to ask if they were taking unnecessary risks with air experience cadets. Two instructors with two teenage girls? One is left wondering just what they were trying to prove. Why couldn’t they just fly a bit further apart? There has to be some serious investigation of this one.

I see the public board of enquiry has already sat, my that evidence must have been easy to collect so quick.

Oh sorry, you mean you’re just commenting based on what you’ve read in the meeja? Then why don’t you STFU and allow the real board of enquiry to come to the decision on the accidents cause and any possible fault, based on actual evidence rather than conjecture and public opinion, eh?

Most of the stuff implemented during his tenure, was organised under Ken, anyway, and Boris is merely committed to seeing those things through. Anything else has been sorted out by the rest of the GLA, with Boris playing only a nominal role, it seems.

Weird, I’m sure I’ve seen something like that before.

Any dodginess Boris may have pales into insignificance beside the likes of Keith Vaz.

Is that a 747 I spot there? Probably Quantas playing silly buggers again?

No I believe its the ex-Air Atlanta 747 that was retired a little early after an RAF muppet (Mover) decided that its forward pressure bulkhead would really look better with a nice vehicle shaped hole in it.

It was retried as the cost of repairing the damage was uneconomical.

Pick up a copy of ‘White Peak Mountain Biking’ by Jon Barton. There is a nice little route to the east of Buxton (Cheedale Wye Valley) which is not uber technical but has some good singletrack and brief forays onto tarmac to enable you to catch a breath.

    Nope.

At RAF Manston, although it had a whacking great big runway built for accepting emergency diversions we often took off and landed from the grass strip alongside it.

When did they phase out the chipmonks?

1995ish, although 2 are still in service with the BBMF.

I learnt to fly in the Chippy with 1AEF. A lovely aircraft to do aeros in above the rolling fields of Kent and RAF Manston must have the easiest runway in the UK to spot and land on, seeing as its bloody huge.

My first Chippy instructor was a former Vulcan Display Flight pilot.

    – “Jump, jump Johnny.”

    – “Jump, jumping Sir.”

Its not a t-tail, its the tail of the Gorb Tutor upside down, as I believe might happen in an aircraft crash.

Why sully the tragic deaths of two air cadets and two RAF instructors with some tin foil conspiracy theory twaddle?

My nephew Chris was murdered outside his house in Dearborn, Mi last year by one of his best friends.

It has hit my family pretty hard, obviously especially my brother and sister-in-law.

    News Report

    RIP Chris.
