I bought some Maxxis car tyres which were cheap and are good.

For £300 i got an mot, new front brake pads, new 17″ alloys, new gear box oil and my T4 lowered by 55mm. Bargain!

If installed properly with the right size pipes/falls etc then you should have no problems.
Never put ANYTHING down them apart from wee, poo and paper.
