Basically, it should be the same as at the funfair: If you can't get down this section without braking like a little girl, you shouldn't attempt the rest. One of the trails in that video has nice, loamy corners with natural loose and shallow berms, built by people who want to ride it fast. What will happen when the masses find it (not hard now that it's been named in this thread) and start skidding down it because they can't ride corners or steep stuff? It'll be trashed. End of trail.

Thats terrible. You build a trail on someone else's land, it gets found and ridden by what you obviously regard as lesser riders and eventually gets trashed, of course nothing to do with it not being built properly in the first place. If you don't want other riders riding your trails, buy your own land.

I didn't hear hardly any skidding going on in that vid, sounded more like the back wheel gripping the surface fractionally as it traverses the roots.

I wonder if Flav & Ecclestone will still sit together in the director's box at QPR?

Of course they will, it's business. I wonder however if Flav will fall foul of the Football league regulation stating that a Chairman of a football club has to be "fit and proper" to perform that role.

It might get that egomaniac shifted from QPR.

You're not quite getting the point Sonor. In winter how do you get to ride very much if you only ride in daylight – that would mean no riding mid week and no more 20 mile commutes across the moor, and that's just not on.

Here's the point you missed. I wasn't saying don't go nightriding, I was saying having lights this powerful…what's the point of going nightriding if you are going to turn the trail ahead of you into daylight?

Flat=lots and lots of pedaling, coupled with the trails being quite "undulating".

    Quite impressive.

I tell you something though, Those who want to buy this light and others like it could save yourselves some money by riding in the daytime.

I have found that the retro-fit led bulbs to be poor when compared to the lights they are replacing, So when it comes to downlighters fitted into ceilings, I would fit fire rated led fittngs from the likes of Collingwood and Robus. The energy consumption of these are 9-10Watts, anything less and you won't get 50Watt equivalent at the moment. The fittings are expensive when compared to halogens and the like, but the energy savings and life expectancy more than makes up for it.

Not keen on Megaman at the moment as there are a few rumbles about their reliability.

NT only have certain sections of land on Leith hill. The area where the jumps are being built I do believe belongs to the Wotton estate. The nearest NT land is the open land around the tower.

As for Holmbury, you may request to build trails, but the answer will be no. It has been clearly stated that any new unsanctioned trails will be put beyond use.

seems the Ranger was using it has a reason to demolish what
    was not causing a problem.

That is a typical response from someone who doesn't understand the potential liabilities involved, not to mention that there is the wildlife to consider and of course shockingly it's not just a playground for mountainbikers other users use the land as well.

Would I be able to lengthen these forks or is it just a case of stripping them down if I want to and seeing if there's a spacer to remove?

How far did you strip them down? Some managed to get the air spring out of the top of the upper without removing the lowers but I couldn't so I removed the lowers completely and removed the air spring from the bottom of the stanchion.

This is the way to do it. I wasn't aware there were OEM forks around without the 120mm option?

Serviced mine (2005 forks)earlier this year and just popped the black plastic spacer out to convert the forks to 115mm.

I think it is good that they have split though and avoided doing a U2.

What, continue to sell millions of albums and tour worldwide thirty years after they formed? You're right, that dead horse was well and truly flogged so it was a good thing that they split.

And they started off so well…

I haven't ridden on Exmoor/Quantocks since 2001, I camped at Sparkhayes farm in Porlock.

My parents are thinking of retiring to the Minehead area, I'm "encouraging" them to do so. They would certainly see me more often than they do now!

A stationery crash on a railway station platform. Wanted to check the sag on my rear shock, got on the bike, leaned up against the wall, it was then my spd clipped in and as I went to pull it out I keeled over onto the platform.

There were a lot of people amused people on the platform opposite. 😳

Also, I only seem to get permanent scars from the most silliest of crashes I have, in this case nice chainring tooth marks on my calf.

So what they are saying that consuming too much or too little of something may harm you either way? Sounds like a balanced diet is the way forward afterall. 🙄

Chocolate can kill as well, but I believe you would have to consume about 22lbs of the stuff in one sitting to achieve lethal dosage.

I have relatives who live near Toronto(born in Canada), One of them keeps asking me "when am I going to emigrate", as I have sought after skills. I haven't the heart to tell him never, as I spoke to his daughter when she was in the UK few weeks ago and she would rather be living on this side of the pond.

Chapaking, take the Reign, you don’t want to be lugging a DH bike around the PPDS IMHO, and the reign is perfectly adequate for most of the DH around there unless you are planning to do airtime bigtime.

Myself & a mate are both starting from Morzine on Saturday. Unluckily our friend is staying with us in Morzine, but has an Avoiraz start. Anyone know how long it wll take him to get up there before the kick-off?

Our start was supposed to be Avoriaz, but we were staying in Morzine, we managed to blag our way onto the lifts from Morzine.

I rode a Giant Trance just beefed it up a little (alot of fun on Le Plenney, Lets gets 1 & 2), I had a full face, elbow and Knee/shin armour, I only used 2.25″ tyres but with downhill tubes.

The larger the group, the more mechanicals, the less time you have to complete the route and you’ve got to make time for the stunning scenery (especially Switzerland).

Don’t try and run anyone over on the downhills like one of my gang did. Fortunately he ran over another one of my gang who had a comedy crash on the trail a few seconds earlier.

    I wish I was doing it this year… 😥

You’re looking for Mayday meadow, Fire road 10, which is on the road opposite to Mayday farm. I think there is parking opposite as well.Map Link.

Oldgit, I agree, I work in the gas industry, and the amount of people who tell me with pride, that they don’t mess with gas or water suprises me, they’ll happily have a go at doing electrical work in there houses, but the risk of a flood or leaving an escape scares them. Whereas the risk of killing themselves in an instant seems worth saving £50 over

In all my years as an electrician it never ceases to amaze me that people have such a casual attitude towards doing their own electrics.

    The things I’ve seen.
    The horror….the horror.

I’ve seen some “shocking” stuff in my time.

Think the fact that they account for over 30% of all grocery spending in this country – it just doesn’t seem like a healthy thing to me.

Hope it doesn’t kill off the local shops.

People choosing to shop there will kill off the local shops.

I hear that “last minute.com” is Chelsea’s new shirt sponsor.

Can anyone recommend a good satnav? I think mine is buggered. I just typed in Chelsea and it said it was only 2 minutes from Rome!

In all seriousness though, its not the first time that the Spanish have helped out the Italians by preventing the mongol hordes from sacking Rome.

I’ve done a complete service on my Reba’s, They are three years old, but the O-rings were in good condition so I left them in.

I think you can remove the air then the top cap for the compression damper side and let the oil drain out, but I would pull the compression damper assembly out so you can freely extract the oil.
